The last defense attorney is excellent! She advocated for her client in a most articulate and heartfelt manner. The defendant should be very grateful.
😂😂😂😂 hope the only people whose lives are destroyed when she's out of custody are your friends and family. She belongs locked up. She's not a victim, she's the problem.
Agreed. She was great.
@@mikesch7672 What a horrible thing to say. A scram tether and 30 day adjournment as well as Judge Simpsons admonishment seemed sufficient in this matter. You can disagree with that and it's fine, but instead you hope a commenter on youtubes friends or family's lives are destroyed for talking about her defense attorney. You are the problem with society with such hatred and vitriol.
@chada.bishop307 I hope the only people ever affected by people causing harm to society are those that support and act like those criminals are somehow the victims. I stand by that, and I couldn't care less what some bleeding heart D-bag thinks.
@@mikesch7672jeez that’s literally her job? Idk what people who make these kind of comments expect them to do or say like when the lawyers don’t work hard enough people get mad and you get mad when they do try 😂that was very harsh and a little dramatic since your directing that like it’s the lawyers fault for doing her job! I agree with you that that lady needs to get it together but really she’s advocating for her to get treatment so this stops! Rehab fails a lot yes but you know what fails more? Throwing people in jail bc they will immediately go out and re use most of the time to celebrate getting out and after having little to no help beyond just being in jail but at least there’s a chance the right people will get the tools to clean their life up and not destroy lives! What you say is more likely to happen if she gets locked up
I had a drinking problem earlier in my life. At one point, I determined I had to decide who was going to be in charge of my life, alcohol or me. I decided that I would be in charge and quit drinking cold turkey. That was in mid 1992. I haven't had a single drink since. I actually miss smoking more and I quit those in 1991.
Very scary.....A drunk who doesn't think they're a danger to anyone. The graveyards are full of innocents who were k!lled by drunks who didn't think they were a danger on the roads. We'll see her again in this court.
Long before I knew him, my husband went through rehab 7 times before it finally stuck. He's now been clean and sober for about 40 years. I've never had an addiction, but I watched family members struggle with them - it's so hard to see.
csh43166....PLEASE tell your husband congratulations from me ❤!! That is such a
Long time he has been sober it's GREAT!!! And you are really a love and obviously kept the faith. You must have such a wonderful beautiful heart ❤! It is so extremely h__L it's indescribable the pain. I went through a addiction it's been 7 years for me I feel so free and extremely happy, I have a wonderful husband who helped me through it every single day. I have chrons disease the pain was unbearable and I got addicted to the pain medication the Dr. Gave me. I did wrong and would take extra. I still go through pain from my disease but ohhhh my gosh I will take this pain ANY DAY before I would take even one pain pill I despise them Lol But God helped me. Take care ❤
I’m grateful that your husband’s struggles happened prior to the internet because if he, back then, had access to some of these comments he may not have had the perseverance for his 7th (and finally successful) attempt. I understand that addiction is a powerful thing to overcome but your husband’s story is proof that it’s possible. Too many comments in this thread are calling the woman in the video hopeless, or insinuating that she’ll never change. I thought she seemed genuine, and beyond that articulate, and she sounds determined. Honestly, I’m rooting for her.
Tell you hubby we all proud of him 💯
"let me stay free to drink and don't put me in jail where I cannot drink".
"I wont drive till i'm legal to do so!" Whoop whoop, how fantastic of you! 🤡🤡💩💩
That kool-aid won’t get me drunk
This last woman doesn't know how fantastic an attorney she has that is not just trying to help her with her legal issues but help her with her life. She knows the program, she has to get to her bottom in order to do her First Step, hopefully she sees the gift she's been given with this attorney representing her.
No she drove many times before, she only got caught two or three times, like almost drinkers and alcoholics. I'm sick of hearing cases and defenders painting it like it's always their first time doing anything like this.
She's been drinking fir numerous years, she definitely drove under the influence at some level every time she drove.
@eladfitz5678.....YOU ARE SOOOO RIGHT!!! It gets really old , I love what
Judge Boyd always says ...People with addictions tell the most believable
stories they can tell you the moon is made out of blue cheese because some
fell down to earth and it was delicious 😂😮 Lol I probably shouldn't laugh at that
but Judge Boyd tells that story because she said so many times she hears thier stories and she almost believes them because they are so good at it. Like this girl she is saying anything to get out of jail time.
Just because you face jail and prison doesn't mean you are done drinking or doing drugs.
True. There are programs in jail or prison IF you want to avail yourself of them. Bond and probation are alternatives to incarceration. If the person violates the conditions imposed, they have shown that they don't want to or don't believe they can change and so have opened themselves to punishment for the offense committed.
I love the way judge looks as he reads , my late father used to take his glasses to read :with that look on his face .
I hate when Simpson asks defendants a question but then allows their lawyer to give a sanitized answer, changing the topic, too.
This is to protect defendants, and attempting to show them in their best possible light. Presumed innocent, and I’m sure some of those responses have helped keep some innocent people from conviction. 😊
@Beefer-e4j
If it's pretrial, he NEVVVER asks them a question about the underlying case! He knows better.
ah, your lawyer is there to talk for you so you dont say anything to make your case worse for you
or
to advise you how to answer questions ie no comment
That is literally the defense attorney's job. The worst criminal ever is still entitled to a vigorous defense.
She isn't going to stop
Not yet it looks like. Hopefully she gets it together. 25yrs of drinking is a long time, she is physically and mentally addicted.
Jacob, not now. She just hasn't hit rock bottom. One of my Uncles did quit, the day he died.
They seldomly do.
I think she can do it.
Alcoholism, like all additions, is a terrible thing. She's got to get her sh** together.
People. You're on bond, so you aren't out of jail. You're provided some freedom until your court date because it hasn't been adjudicated completely. You understand the standards you must maintain while on bond, agree to keep them and agree that if you violate them, you will likely stay in jail until your court date. I get withdrawal symptoms, I get addiction. I've been there. This is why you better get into a good program while on bail so you get prescribed medication to assist you with them and keep your butt out of jail. YOU make the conscious decision to quit the program because you CHOOSE to get drunk/high/whatever. If you become unwilling to save your life by attending a program and sticking to it, then you are choosing to go the challenging route of coming off drugs/alcohol. I'd think knowing this, if you're a sane person, you definitely do not want to sober out your body and brain without assistance. This is 30 days of hell you do not want.
Something I have never understood maybe you or someone else can explain. Why do they refer to it as a "high"? It doesn't lift one up, from what's seen it puts one down. Maybe I just don't have the sort of mind that can perceive the terminology. Alcohol makes you stupid and drugs, so far as I can see, just make one blank.
Excuses excuses excuses! That's all I hear!✌🏼
Revoke her and it might save her life, excuses don't feed the bulldog
I knew he wasn't going to revoke, at least half way through. How? Because he didn't give Mr Allen "The Look" and he stayed by the bench.
As an 8 year recovering alcoholic, I can fully understand how easy it is to fall back into an old habit. I never did, thank goodness, but I know how easily I could have. Sometimes I feel bad for some of these people when they fall back and do dumb stuff, but man sometimes they just dig the hole bigger themselves.
Hope she makes it.
The defendant who drank once in the 135 days in the alcoholic sobriety program definitely deserved a second chance glad J.S. gave her a break..
Second Chance don't screw this up lady..
She's lying. What a joke. Not getting pulled over doesn't matter. She is absolutely a threat to everyone in society. Throw her in jail and make her pay her debts to society.
The last defendant & her attorney wanted a therapy session, not a bail hearing 😂
Another great one by Judge Simpson ❤
That last woman is not ready to be sober yet. Her lawyer tho is absolutely killing it tho.
I hate it when they say, "mistake". It was a conscious choice. Also, stop saying you missed something out of your control. Nothing is more important while on bond than your freedom. Better take it seriously. She doesn't want to quit, but she is very afraid of what she'll experience in jail. Really hard withdrawal symptoms, and nobody will be there to pity her. I would have given her 5 days in custody. Let her deal with the withdrawal. Give her time for her family, lawyer, and herself to find a program and an excellent complex taste of what she'll deal with for a month if she doesn't stay in it.
Withdrawal symptoms are no joke. You have to get to a point where your fear of this hell overcomes your desire to drink or get high. Then, you'll always choose to stay in the program.
"Im not a danger to anyone" then agrees with the judge when he immediately says "no you're not"
I wish her all the best
Judge Simpson is sooooo necessary. Especially with the lack of confidence in the judicial system at the highest level.
Bond violations are not hard to avoid
We Love You❤❤❤Judge Simpson
Creedence and Mikey, Bro, keep up the good work. Collab soon?
Judge Simpson was concerned about the woman well being
It breaks my heart that people fall through the cracks like this and get into this addictive and self-destructive spiral. I wish we were a more caring people and could step up and step in when someone needs it.
Alcoholics who wish to genuinely give up the alcohol, will tell you the lure of the hit is very strong. Colleagues have informed me that drug abusers have the same desire to get the high. Cold turkey does work but only when no goods can be passed over to those who allow themselves to be locked away. But it has to be a genuine want and need, not just hot air to get lighter sentences from judges. I have never taken on drug users although I've treated many alcohol users. From that experience I know the first month is the hardest followed by the rest of their lives, some old clients have informed me the lure never goes. It left down to them to say no as they know the damage it causes to the mind, body and people in their lives.
Recovering from Alcholism brings DT's & you may have seizures, because of it, so its recommended to get medical help to get off of it.
@@chriswendschlag1856 Most county jails deal with this regularly and have protocols that the nurse in booking can start. Usually it is starting with a high dose of Valium or Ativan right in booking with the dose reduced daily until the seventh day when the last dose is given. This usually prevents DTs and seizures from alcohol withdrawal. Obviously the long acting benzodiazepine is administered with a nurse watching, some jails may also use the liquid form so it can't be "cheeked" and taken back to the cell block for unauthorized "administration" to a different inmate. I know jail inmates lose all of their rights but it would be insane to take a known severe alcoholic into the jail and not start benzodiazepine therapy for withdrawal.
I just pray the next court date she will not be drunk. I bet if the check her bag she has a bottle in there
#1. Slammer Time! #2. Not holding our breath.
Very good court session!! Thanks.
I hope she doesn't let Judge Simpson down! That is a huge break in my opinion!
Sometimes I really believe that these defendants look at the Judge like it's their fault if
they miss day's at the "new job" They just got, or Thier grandma is dying and if they are not with her she won't take the medicine she's supposed to be taking but she will only take it if I'm there your honor 😮! If YOU put me in jail . How can you send me to
to prison? ?? Your honor I am bipolar my Dr. even said it was not my fault that I tried
to choke her . Please your honor my wife is going to have our 6th child I need to be home for THEM.!!
This is all I hear , But to seriously put that on the JUDGE is so manipulative I think they really believe it's the Judge's fault!!
It is never their fault.
@vmcougarintn5035 You got that right ❣️Lol...And they always have that look ...Like "what did 😳 I do your honor? 🤥 As thier nose grows like Pinocchio ^just like that Loooooong nose on that face I put
up there 😞!! Take care and stay safe ❣️
I enjoy a whiskey sometimes, but I will never understand liking alcohol so much that you will take a drink knowing it will get me locked up.
She'll be back, i'm afraid. Be good, girl. Stay home, stay safe!
The research on recovery demonstrates consistently that follow-up is the most significant variable for success following participation in a rehabilitation program. The despair that "alcoholics," i.e., those with an alcohol use disorder, experience is the result of inadequate internal structure & external support to sustain abstinence.
8:23 this attorney is really going the distance for her client. My hats off to her. Appreciate lawyers that will go that extra mile to the judge for their client like this. I wish I had a lawyer like her if I am ever in need of trouble with the courts.
Did that lawyer just point to the fact that this was the ONLY felony case PENDING as if THAT is in any way a GOOD thing lol
Sooo, defense attorneys always say something like this is their first felony, or their first offense. No telling how many times they have done it before and not got caught.
She's telling the judge what she thinks he wants to hear. Its not genuine and why he's not buying her BS🥸💩
1st its: "im owning it"... then she says "it wasn't a violent crime" then she goes onto say that she's "sorry"!! Best way to say "sorry" is to "own" cuz it may not have been "violent" but it was a "Crime"!!!
2nd case:
Your Honor, I know that I've been charged with committing a crime and have since been labeled as a criminal but I beg you Your Honor not to treat me like a criminal who deserves to be thrown in jail but rather I be sent to a local girl's scout campfire jamboree as there'd be no way I'd be served alcohol while under teenage supervision!
Judge Simpson is a rockstar
I completely agree with the judge
This is a clear example of someone who lacks insight into their situation/addiction. She may say the words suggesting she gets it but you can see just under the surface she is in denial.
What the big deal.. people like to drink. Setting people up to fail for the most part.
Addiction is a spiritual crisis.
I believe a person must start a relationship with a higher power. For me it's God. A deity that is larger and so divine in the universe. That's the only way I overcame my alcohol addiction of 34 years.
@@SeashelleBytheseashore Jesus Christ is my God. The Holy Trinity Father, Son, Holy Spirit.mCreator of all things.
Misdemeanor? I hardly knew her!
Jail is a nice structured system if she cant cope in the real world, revoke her. She can get her life sorted later.
Ms browns defense attorney is incredible
Well the ball is in her court. Hopefully she’ll get her shit together and move forward in a positive direction. The odds aren’t in her favor but I wish her the best in her recovery and maybe she can defy those odds.
She's desperate not to be held accountable and responsible for her actions after having been caught doing what she agreed not to do to stay out of jail.
...wait, you're NOT minimizing it? I hear a whole lot of minimization and rationalization in an attempt to avoid responsibility.
"I will not get behind the wheel until I am legal to do so"... and then you'll OVI? When you have your license and vehicle back?
His only felony case "pending.." *Yes say that as fast as you can.* 🤣
Simpson getting soft on us lol. Lock her up
She needs a structured environment? Jail is structured. Counseling, AA stuff, etc.? Pretty sure that's available in jail, too. She got lucky her lawyer was so good (as in persuasive).
Love Judge Simpson kind &tuff
Well you sure don't need to be free u til rehab is available! She needs jail u til she gets a spit in a rehab!!
Rehab didn't fail, the alcohol won. She's not ready to stop drinking period.
So he is here on a bond violation but is once again requesting bond again?
She got caught before... how many times not caught? Choices...not mistakes. So glad i have never been a drinker smoker or drug user. I love my dull boring but peacefully calm life
Get help while you still can. Your life as well as others are at risk. Grow up. Do the work and do better. You are worth the work to get and stay sober.
And she wore a sweatshirt to court
At least we didn't have belly buttons and boobs or butt cracks staring at us. I'll take the sweatshirt, thank you very much for covering your body.
It sounds like she can't afford anything. She is living in a hotel (probably a very basic hotel at $70-$100 a night) which is much more than any welfare assistance available and even if she is working it is likely at an entry-level job paying $600-$700 gross a week. Also, a SCRAM tether is at least $10 a day and if it isn't paid on time she would go to jail immediately. Frankly, if it weren't for the withdrawal issue (which the jail medical staff can treat) and possibly guards that "use" inmates for their "own purposes" she would probably be better off in jail right now.
My whole family had addiction issues. They all died due to illnesses related to their addictions. All 3 siblings were younger than me and all died young. And I'm a retired critical care nurse and saw so many severe injuries and deaths from people with addictions who didn't think they were a danger to others. Makes me sick that this isn't treated much more seriously and with mandatory jail.
I love this lawyer
I agree. She said all that. Let her prove herself now and if she doesn't then...revoke town
Rehab is necessary however because of the education. Most alcoholics and drug addicted have no clue about the disease. It's not always a failure. Alcohol is the hardest to stop because it is legal. I only know this because I myself have 28 years clean. I will say that I went to rehab once, relapse and went back to rehab from substances. The first time I went I learned much about the disease. The reason I went back is because of what I learned. It is always up to the individual whether they go to rehab or not. I learned about the trauma I experienced in my life. It's more than just using drugs or alcohol. I became a substance abuse counselor and mental health professional so that I can help fellow addicts and alcoholics change their life. No it's not always easy and the relapse rate can be high but it is most rewarding because if I can help one person stay clean it's a win.
That was a good call on the last case.
"Intentions" go out the window when dealing with addiction.
Judge Simpson
I think this was extremely difficult for Judge Simpson
Soft on crime judge doing soft on crime crap
The defense attorney for the second case was so full of it with excuses for her client in contrary as to humankind knows that she'll be hitting that bottle, when she gets home. People who are alcoholics have no self-control nor do they have the drive to impede form another drink at the early stage in life when it comes to drinking problems, especially when they have been released back into the public.
I was lucky and after many attempts got sober at 24. I'm coming up on 39 years of soberity and never a day doesn't go by that I didnt kill someone or myself.
😢
I HAVE ZERO PITY FOR ANYONE WHO REFUSES TO ADMIT THEY HAVE AN ISSUE WITH SUBSTANCES….
6:48 you don’t need to tell him it was a “non-violent act”. Does she not think he knows that? You don’t need to bring it up.
I think the biggest red flag is how she minimizes the violation by listing all of the things she didn't do while intoxicated. You rolled the dice and won, it doesn't mean you won't lose the next 3 dice rolls.
Judge? What about the innocent in public?
When somebody says "I made a mistake" instead of "I chose to do something wrong," they are not sincere about anything. They are in denial that they are the problem.
Guess what? A choice to do something wrong is a mistake. It has nothing to do with whether nor not the chooser thinks they are the problem.
@@Gwentheferret Nope. Adding up a bunch of numbers and getting the wrong answer is making a mistake. Nobody makes a mistake about what they choose to do. "Oh, I knew not to drink and drive, but I chose to drink and drive, so I made a mistake." Nope, not how reality works. That is you choosing to do something wrong.
You want to hear them say “I chose to do something wrong” but when do you think that they *chose* to be an addict?
The tether Might work, I am not sure what to think, some people REALLY CAN'T stop, I just hope she is able to get away from the Persons that are not able to help her
Could he not have locked her up until a bed opened at the rehab facility? She appears to be in a very vulnerable situation.
He already did that for her
They have AA Meetings in jails.
They don't work.
The second accountability for actions takes a back seat in the defendants narrative, the judge is on it and it drives his every opinion after that.
Don't BS a guy who gets bs-ed all day every day.
Miss Carver will live a miserable life...
Fair
The Judge has Gold accents on red like the US Flag.
Its yellow accents. He has a multicolored shirt and it's not even the same shade as the flag trim
He’s a University of Maryland graduate, red and gold are the schools colors.
@@chrisyoung4654 So he's about to jump off the bench, tear off the robe, and go full on marching band!
Sitting there saying it wouldnt be good sitting in jail and she needs rehab, maybe she should have thought about that. Honestly, seems worse that you know and acknowledge but dont seek yourself. Unless she’s lying, which we all know she is. Pointing out her license was taken so she cant drive as if, she didnt violate drinking. Lock her up. She is a danger
Should revoke!
Alcohol is insidious, and our culture condones and popularizes its appeal as sophisticated and fun. It certainly can be, but for some it's an abyss that has high walls covered in slime and grease.
I wished the JS gave her 90 in 90 like JB in addition to treatment. Sounds like the attorney might be a friend of Bill based on some of the lingo used. I hope the defendant is doing better.
Hey everyone, having a bad week had 2 strikes fteryesterdin hospital but I am alive
"entirely structured setting". It would be difficult, if not impossible to misbehave under such circumstances.
Really great defense attorney at the end!!!
Funny how all these perps seem to suddenly have a job and tons of family support and were really really sorry...........
She'll be back. I hope I'm wrong.
Yes
I imagine these people just disappear if they are successful. I know this is a bit different, but I'd be curious to see some success stories. There has to be some people who get their act together.
