    Interesting and competent set up, good idea to have the alternator high up, no chance of it being flooded, and use the vertical leg as a oil sump for the chain drive, the power cables seemed rather tight. Thank you for posting this 👍

    Fact: car alternators are tend to generate electricity so its not hard to use them as hydro electric generator

    That's great to see all the parts working together but I would suggest you to encapsulate the entire component to prevent it from corrosion in this moist environment

      @@Rony098963 that is s not applicable to a domestic water turbine. ESD is a problem in industrial processes such as refineries where intrinsic safety is required for combustible liquids and powders

    Any information on the output? I’ve done the math on a small stream like that and it wasn’t much. Less than a hundred watts and the drive eats a few percent as well.

    How many amps are you drawing off that? You could probably increase the current with a slightly different shaped bucket, able to hold more water, and add a few more gears to get the alternator spinning faster. Seems like a pretty steady flow of water

    So, how are you powering the exciter circuit to turn the alternator on so it will produce voltage? Or, is it a generator and not an alternator as a generator needs no coil excitation to produce voltage. Also, it seems like your rpms are to low to get much out of either device.

      I bet it was converted to a permanent magnet rotor, common with making generators for these applications.

      Yes rpm too low. that's why i changes the coil packs.

      no it's not coming for over. chain from the turbine to upper wheels have covered and also have water seals for bearing

      I would agree it's "bush engineering" since its not the most efficent way he could have utilized the available power. He could have made a gravitational vortex for more efficiency

    Nice work! Got all mmy patts together to build one very similar this spring. Mines gonna have to be a floater though because its a trout stream and i can alter it enough to focus the water like your. Smooth steady power! Thats cool.

      Having the water spill over the top of the wheel and down the front takes more advantage of the potential energy. This is only getting around 30% of what that wheel could make the other way. Also the spur gears on the alternator are begging for a chain drive.

      thats a 120amp alternator on there and puts out over a 1000 watts.....
