19:47 Interesting fact is if Niko calls Dimitri during the mission expressing doubts whether to go through with it, Dimitri will change his tune slightly and just go "do what you have to do" without ever mentioning who is Lenny. Which is a hint that he actually wanted Niko to do it, to give himself an excuse to get rid of Faustin.
If Dimitri wanted to save Mikhail from making bad mistakes he would have warned Niko that Petrovic had a very powerful mob boss as a father so that Niko doesn’t kill him. But he purposely never mentioned that to Niko, only after the hit was complete. That’s the proof that he searched for a way to get rid of Mikhail and saw Niko as a useful tool. He never cared about Mikhail but saw him as useful for some time until he saw and took the chance to take over the russian mafia.

Dimitri was my favorite character in GTAIV but, sadly, like my favorites from other GTAs he was a traitor too i wouldn't be surprised if his middle name was Lance too - and I never knew about 26:20!
Dimitri is probably the scariest primary antagonist out of the entire GTA universe, purely cause he is a master manipulator. Actually, even when he was putting up an act, being the reasonable foil to the erratic Faustin, there were already signs that Dimitri was already manipulating both Niko and Faustin for his gains. If you paid close attention to the words Dimitri used, it is very clear he is egging Faustin on while deceiving Niko at the same time. Dimitri is a classic case of a psychopath, displaying many traits on a checklist to define a psychopath. Lack of guilt or empathy, Dimitri literally fed his so-called best friend Faustin to the proverbial wolves, and forcing Faustin's widow and daughter into poverty after taking over Faustin's criminal empire for himself. Superficial charm, Dimitri is a master at playing this game, acting as the reasonable foil so Niko would side with him against the seemingly erratic Faustin. Callous and unemotional, very much so with all the victims he had betrayed. Narcissism, Dimitri clearly felt a need to posture over Niko to prove his superiority, such as sending a picture of Roman being brutalized, and in the Deal branch of the storyline, bragging about how he already backstabbed the buyers when Niko (and Phil Bell) were already in the buyers' territory. Rockstar did a fantastic work of writing Dimitri as an antagonist, and even before the big reveal, the hints were subtle enough to foreshadow Dimitri's true nature, even if most players do not immediately catch on. The scary thing is that Dimitri's character is not fake: psychopaths in real life are capable of playing the long game until they can drop the act. The way Dimitri earned Niko's trust initially, and then betraying him after seizing Faustin's criminal empire for himself is a textbook example of how a psychopath behaves.
I think TheProfessional nailed his personality down well, he is a sadistic psychopath. I appreciate your efforts with his video. But you didnt touch on the fact that Dimitri changed Faustin and continuously gaslit him. You also missed what he did to Faustins wife and daughter, leaving them homeless.
You make the most quality GTA content out of everyone on this site. If it's not too much, could I suggest Chinatown Wars next ? It was the first GTA game I've ever experienced and a deep dive on Hsin Jaoming, Kenny Wu Lee, Chan Jaoming, Wade Heston, or Zhou Ming would be very much appreciated. You already did a video on Huang Lee. Why not his traitorous uncle and his other employers ?
Dimitri is a very overrated villain to me. No offense to those who loved him, but Catalina and Big Smoke are better than Dimitri imo. Even if I play GTA IV, my opinion will still not change. Great video though.
@@Euro.Patriot. Dimitri uses these tactics very well which is bully, buy, reason, and negotiating to make people do his bidding. This is actually his bread and butter. I have to say Health Ledger's Joker is actually a worst case match up for someone like Dimitri. Because Dimitri cant use his usual tactics to deal with Joker as Joker dosen't have any levers to pull.
