- In this IWE in 2 min, Jahaziel Osei Mensah explores Sustainable AI from an African perspective. He highlights Africa's pivotal role in AI development but notes the underrepresentation of African views in the sustainable AI debate. Jahaziel's research addresses the environmental cost of the life cycle development of AI in Africa, including ethical dumping by the Global North. He therefore proposes that African AI policy should incorporate indigenous African values which prioritize environmental sustainability and the well-being of members of the community.
