Anthony is such a good interviewer. He knows how to make the guests comfortable and doesn't interrupt like big time hosts. Super cool to see Tony Hawk on the show!
I saw Tony in Mammoth the day before Thanksgiving I think. It just snowed for the first time of the season. So my family & I went up there to check out the snow & how crowded the slopes were. I was walking around & passed this family getting their gear together. Thought to myself “that dad looked like Tony Hawk.” Looked back & he was being greeted by a few kids, asking for pictures. Tony was super sweet to everyone & then went snowboarding with his fam. I could tell, like he said in the interview, he makes his interactions special for the kids. Tony is a big part of my childhood! Always support & be a fan.
This has to be among the best of these interviews, immediately. I never got into skateboarding, didn't even play the games and just watched over people's shoulders and the neighbor kids' house.. But this man is truly legendary, and with that kind of genuine nature.. this is the type of person I like to see reach that status. His perspective is so incredibly valuable. So glad you could have him on!!
Tony's experiences of embracing hobby is really grounded, there is no doubt you will achieve the peak of your career, however you cannot stay on top for long, since aging is an unavoidable concept. And Tony learned to accepts the changes while he enjoy his hobby in every moment.
He’s so humble, saying the game hasn’t inspired people in the Olympics is too humble and not true. The game has definitely inspired future skaters and the tricks they are doing. Tony is the GOAT

Tony Hawk!!! One of the best guests!! Always love hearing him talk about the history and his life. Plus, he's so chill and humble. Growing up in the early 2000s. You knew the name Tony Hawk. Skateboarding was such a big part of the late 90s and 2000s. Even I got a skateboard and the deck was that old cingular logo from the phone carrier brand (I don't even think their around anymore) 😂 but yeah, coming from a mexican household. Yes! I came to say the same...thus, I was going to say climbing in general, as I have (almost) only climbed indoors. I was excited to get also skate boarding to Olympics...because of this similarity of vibes with climbing (and snowboarding). It is a community thing. You hang out with old and new friends (from toddler to middle aged people (sometimes, but rarely, some even in their 70s or 80s)), you go to do your thing and then again you hang as a group. @@emmi3785 Yep, for sure. I have only climbed indoors as well, Florida will do that to a man, and I feel really comfortable around climbers for the most part. As a beginner you are taken to the climbing community with open arms. You can ask betas from more experienced climbers and they are happy to help (even if you had never spoken earlier).
@@emmi3785 Yep, for sure. I have only climbed indoors as well, Florida will do that to a man, and I feel really comfortable around climbers for the most part. I feel like I can relax and talk to anyone. It is probably to only public place where I've felt ok leaving my things in an open cubby then going and climbing.
I don’t think I ever teared up from the wholesomeness of an interview
