I its like mine, the mounting bolts for the water pump consist of one bolt and one stud with a nut, and the stud is really long. Cut some of it off. Also, on the water pump, there is a little tang that sticks out that hits the harmonic balancer. grind that down some so it doesn't get in your way. Take the mounting bolts of the fuel/water separator/cooler and move it out of the way. Makes it a lot easier.

Would it have been easier if there was a quick disconnect fitting on both (inlet and outlet) red and black hoses? Since both of those hoses need to be removed from the back of the pump, to me that would be the game changer...

Greeting from NC! I could not agree more. The engineer that designed this... clearly never worked or plan to work on this. Our boat (a Monterey 270CR) has almost no space to work on (water tank, poop tank, water-heater, generator etc.)... making this work really difficult. No wonder marina's ask an arm, leg and a kidney to do it. Perhaps they employ midgets? (joke!) I wanted to thank you for this video! It confirmed my fear that you have to disconnect almost every bolt under the Sun just to replace a simple maintenance item. Absolute stupid design! Thanks again mate.

I have only to remove three bolts to remove the front of the sea water pump - so much easier and quick instead of removing the whole thing. It takes me like 5-10 minutes to remove, 15-20 minutes to replace the impeller and 5-10 minutes to put it back. I use a speed wrench.

The 'one simple trick' I started using battling any rubber hose on a nipple is to first take a pick tool and carefully shove it between the hose and nipple, then spray silicone spray into the gap. Then move the pick tool around gently 360° around the nipple, the lube will follow. After this the hose should fall right off.
