Really enjoy the professional, thorough nature of these reviews. No tacti-cool nonsense or silly shooting. Alan is terrific. By far my favorite channel for firearms. Now call OEO any time I’m interested in buying.
I dont even own a gun nor have I ever. I do plan on having one in the future , but this gentleman here is one great teacher. Im just learning new things from him . Sir If you ever read this you are a terrific teacher and I love your videos
I have seen people cut a small tire tube and put it over the opening at butt stock to keep more water out. You can carry 3 mags if you put one in the receiver
Two things he failed to say, the rear sight has 2 peep holes you just back out the screw and turn the plate and tighten the screw, and you can leave a mag in the action when disassembling and putting the action into the storage compartment so technically you can store 3 mags.
Awesome video and rifle, I own one of these myself and have been very impressed with it, it could truly be the most compact 22 Caliber rifle in the world, and it maintains incredible accuracy in the process. Easily my favorite 22 I own
Mine functions best with CCI ammo. Very handy little .22 LR carbine. Only thing it lacks is a sling, which is handy to have while running a trapline. You can make one with webbing and velcro.
Just an interesting find, many of the honeycomb openings surrounding the stored receiver, barrel, and magazines can be used for extra ammunition storage. Some are very slightly too narrow but a 7/32 drill bit is just enough to open them to accommodate a few more rounds. With an extra magazine for the receiver (24 rounds) and filling all the honeycombs I could, I found storage for an additional 30+ rounds. This essentially results in about 55 rounds total.
I`m the kind of guy who has to test my guns as best as I can. Utah made rimfire legal for turkey in 2018. The biggest animals I have got in the past with a 22 have been rabbits. Because the AR-7 is a survival gun I had to try it on a turkey. With the help of CCI stingers I got my turkey with one shot. The Henry AR-7 will do the job.
Huge fan of this channel. Always an interesting, thorough review. I owned a few of these, but never warmed up to them. I had constant jamming issues. Sent both back several times. Henry couldnt get them to run reliably either. Replaced one, still inconsistent. Again, wanted to love it but no luck. Henry did exchange the last one for a standard lever in 22 Perfect in every way .
I still have the Charter Arms version that I bought decades ago. Mine would fire once or twice and then jam. It's a novelty that I have buried in my closet.
First, i love this channel and your reviews. Thanks for a fun and educational review on the AR-7. I love mine and carry it in a ukulele case on trips. I find it very enjoyable and accurate to shoot.
If you’re not going to be going in water, the hollow spaces in the butstock can be filled with extra ammo. This does take away the float ability of the gun with the added weight.
Very nice review sir. I just ordered one a week ago. The price on these has gone up. I ordered mine in Timber Camo. One question. I wear bifocals. Any trouble with that peep sight been reported by others?
I came within a hair’s breath of an ND with mine because I didn’t know how the safety works. I thought the safety was on and it was uncocked, neither of those were true. The only thing that saved me was that at the last second I decided not to put my loaded magazine in it.
i have one of these. at 25 yards it will keep all shots inside of 2 inches with just the peep sight and my less than perfect eyes. 100% reliable with good high velocity ammo like CCI Minimag. But does NOT like hyper velocity stuff like Velociters.
it actually has 2 peep sights. just unscrew the flathead on the bar a bit and flip it around. a small hole and a slightly bigger hole. and you can store a third mag in the mag well when putting it away.
So, it floats well! Buttplate/cover floats above waterline. Butt if it goes down/submerged, then seal is as good as it was taken care of. So be careful when removing/replacing butt cover! LOL, I suppose you should always be careful with any butt cover🤠🤠
You should definitely get one. Spend the extra bucks and get one of the two camo versions though. They are really beautiful. I have the solid black one and I'm going to get one of the camel versions as well.
It can indeed take down a Grizzly if The Grizzly has been shot with a .44 magnum several times first. I would only use the same ammo that Sean Connery used in "From Russia With Love". One round made a helicopter explode.
I did not read all the comments so if anyone already mentioned this, I apologize for repeating it. All toy guns are required to have an orange cap over the tip of the barrel. This is to keep law enforcement personnel from making a mistake and possibly shooting a child playing with a toy rifle. In this case the officer would be in danger. He/she could see this gun and think that it is harmless and subsequently end up getting hurt. I wonder if Henry knew this when they made the front site orange.
I’ve had one since ‘11 I’m always surprised how accurate it is out to 50 yds or so. Everyone who sees it wants it. If they advertised they’d sell a million of them.
Bough one, barrel was bent/warped. Replacement wasn't any better, so got ride of it. I've since shot other people's AR-7s and have never been impressed, seems really junky.

We’re glad you enjoy our videos and thank you very much for the kind words.
I concur.

Best gun reviewer on TH-cam sir. 👍
I agree. I can't believe it took me so long to find this channel.

@Texican Your welcome
also failed to mention the front sight ia a piece of plastic. Oh yea, these guns are junk !!
@@tzackaria7bought one yesterday. Mine has a steel sight. Not junk
I've had mine Henry for 15 years, great gun for an old school 007 fan.
Awesome video and rifle, I own one of these myself and have been very impressed with it, it could truly be the most compact 22 Caliber rifle in the world, and it maintains incredible accuracy in the process. Easily my favorite 22 I own
Good review. I like the self storage aspect of it. Didn't know about this one before the video. Thanks!👍

I purchased one of these last year, I highly recommended this
22. But you will need to use high velocity rounds with it.
That Henry is something that I really don’t need but would love to have. It’s just so interesting.
I`m the kind of guy who has to test my guns as best as I can. Utah made rimfire legal for turkey in 2018. The biggest animals I have got in the past with a 22 have been rabbits. During takedown/stowage, I place a third (purchased extra) magazine in the receiver, being very sure to remove the magazine before re-assembly.

Perfect in every way
.
Thank you very much. Also that’s a shame your AR-7 wasn’t running reliably, but glad Henry got you taken care of.
I still have the Charter Arms version that I bought decades ago. Mine would fire once or twice and then jam. It's a novelty that I have buried in my closet.
The only problems I have heard with the Henry AR-7 were from people using older (non Henry OEM) mags.
Great video! I actually bought one today. Got the delay so I gotta wait a few days. Can't wait to shoot it.
Watched your review with my sons. Thank you Sir.
First, i love this channel and your reviews.
Thanks for a fun and educational review on the AR-7. I love mine and carry it in a ukulele case on trips. I find it very enjoyable and accurate to shoot.
you can flip the peep sight around/upside down and it's got a larger peep on the other end of the rear sight.
If you’re not going to be going in water, the hollow spaces in the butstock can be filled with extra ammo. This does take away the float ability of the gun with the added weight.
Good review. Also you can store a mag in the action in the stock
Very nice review sir. I just ordered one a week ago. The price on these has gone up. I ordered mine in Timber Camo. One question. I wear bifocals. Any trouble with that peep sight been reported by others?
I had one for a long time until it got stolen. I really miss it because I could carry it in my backpacke
You should buy another one. Spend the extra bucks and get one of the camo ones. They look incredible.
Excellent video as usual! Thank you!
As always, Thank You, Allen.
I like mine and never had a problem using the recommended "hotter" 22LR. I did buy the extra magazine. I do wish the safety was more click positive.
I came within a hair’s breath of an ND with mine because I didn’t know how the safety works. I thought the safety was on and it was uncocked, neither of those were true. The only thing that saved me was that at the last second I decided not to put my loaded magazine in it.
Good work
The holes in the orange butt stock can hold individual rounds too and still close tight.
I always wondered if I added some spray foam in the stock if it would add buoyancy duration.
Hmmm. Don't mess with it. But if you do, let us know the results!
The one Bond gun I can afford. Although I believe his was the original 22 Hornet.
i have one of these. at 25 yards it will keep all shots inside of 2 inches with just the peep sight and my less than perfect eyes. 100% reliable with good high velocity ammo like CCI Minimag. But does NOT like hyper velocity stuff like Velociters.
How much does it weigh? Any other calibers available? Thanks
Only .22 LR. It weights about 3.2 lbs.
it actually has 2 peep sights. just unscrew the flathead on the bar a bit and flip it around. a small hole and a slightly bigger hole. and you can store a third mag in the mag well when putting it away.

Very good vid thank you. love my ar7 also
Nice review..thank you!!
good review
ar7 was used in James bond movie From Russia with Love
I want one now.

Great review 👏 👌 thank you so much.
is it possible to install my cz 24" barrel on this gun?
Love your video I am new to buying a rifle is this gun strong enough to take down a grizzly bear if so what ammo I can use?
It can indeed take down a Grizzly if The Grizzly has been shot with a .44 magnum several times first. I would only use the same ammo that Sean Connery used in "From Russia With Love". One round made a helicopter explode.

James Bond shot a helicopter down with one.
That's one of my favorite scenes. I think his rifle shot a bigger caliber, yes?
James Bond shot the villain with the grenade, the grenade explosion brought it 👇
Yes, sort of...
Still want to know why in From Russia With Love they said it was a 25 ACP. :)
I’ve had one since ‘11 I’m always surprised how accurate it is out to 50 yds or so. Everyone who sees it wants it. If they advertised they’d sell a million of them.
I’ll stick with my 10/22. The originals were a jamamatic! Nice review though.
I paid $79 for my Charter Arms version in 1982. Actually prefer it over the Henry.
Bough one, barrel was bent/warped. Replacement wasn't any better, so got ride of it. I've since shot other people's AR-7s and have never been impressed, seems really junky.
