    It is also worth mentioning that submarines do not launch missiles from the surface, this threatens to damage the skin. The launch is carried out from a certain depth of 50-100 meters, a large amount of gas is supplied to the cell containing the rocket and, due to the high pressure, the rocket flies out at high speed, flies out from under the water and flies up to a height of 40-50 meters, after which the engines will turn on. It is possible to launch from the surface position only from a certain type of submarine, and for this they are tipped a little on their side so that the rocket after departure does not damage the skin with a jet stream.
    Another silly point - the Russians used anti-ship missiles. Submarines are destroyed with the help of helicopters, which, thanks to special devices, find submarines and launch torpedoes or with the help of special ships. The missiles fired by the Russians are capable of destroying a ship, but not a submarine.
    And the last point - rockets don't explode like that. If they are conventional-fuel rockets, they will catch fire, explode slightly due to the ignition of the fuel, and fall into the water. There is also another type of rockets that fly due to their aerodynamics rather than fuel, and are more difficult to shoot down. Missiles do not explode instantly and completely, this is impossible.

    There are a few mistakes here.
    One, submarines are difficult to fire missiles while floating, the surface of the submarine is able to withstand water pressure and cold temperatures but not the high heat from the rocket engine.
    Two, Tomahawk cruise missiles are not used to intercept other flying targets.
    Third, the Russian destroyer does not have that type of missile launcher, it uses small circular launchers on a large circle.

      The submarine was forced to emerge before that scene, else they would have been destroyed. They kind of gave up and made clear, that they are not the enemy but that they got that old captain on board (who had trained most of the Russian sailors on the warship) and the Russian president - who also made clear that any attack on the US submarine would be seen as high treason. The only question was, if the Russian warship would believe that AND not be on the side of the general who had planed this whole thing to take over.
      Well, they were not, so they not only didn't follow the order to destroy the US submarine, but defended it against the attack ordered by the general (and yes, of course the CIWS scene was made for tension, they would have fired anti air missiles and shoot at the incoming missiles much earlier).
      The Tomahawks were an order of the US defense minister, to take out the Russian command center with the general, but the captain of the submarine of course saw this as an insane risk to start WW3. The Tomahawks were not meant to defend them against the incoming missiles (in that case it would be just stupid to wait). He didn't fire to make clear, that they are not the aggressor.

      @@allent.g560 while it does seem odd at first glance, it's not entirely without merit. Many modern anti-ship missiles(such as the US's Harpoon are infact multi-purpose. They can either break apart to reveal the torpedo to attack a submarine, or remain intact and strike a surface ship. Im not entirely sure if Russia has a similar multi-purpose missile. But hey, its Hollywood, since when do they ever get anything historically accurate

    • @aliboy357
      @aliboy357 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@нацияинтернационал Except the publicly available results of the investigation into why she sank revealed that there was a fuel leak in one of the torpedos. When the crew went to fire the training torpedoes at the battlecruiser in the exercise the spark used to turn on the torpedo ignited the leaking fuel. The resulting blast traveled through the forward torpedo room, through the open hatch into the bridge killing the command crew. That hatch was supposed to be closed as the boat was meant to be at alert. The remaining crew were forced to try and escape, it was noted in the investigation that in some compartments the blast had knocked oxygen producing tiles off the walls which upon touching water on the deck caught fire. The tiles converted CO2 to oxygen but produced a lot of heat, it wound up performing the same reaction on the water and the resulting heat made the tiles catch fire. The only good thing about the accident was that the reactor technician followed his training and scrammed the reactor, sealing himself in with it.
