I agree 100%; A heated tent is meant for comfort when awake. You should never have to consistently have to wake up winter camping and light a stove to keep warm!!! You use a hot tent to enjoy some relief from winter camping. Let the stove go out while eating and preparing for bed. Then prep a easy light fire for the morning (whoever has to urinate first; gets up and lights the stove) all dress in warmth. If your sleeping system can't handle the temperature outside... don't go!!!

In my opinion setting up a Snowtrekker tent is very easy. What’s time consuming is gathering up the wood (depending on where you’re camping). Winter camping is great but it’s not for everyone. Lots of chores need to get done and having the proper equipment is crucial to enjoying yourself. And no bugs and no bears !!!

Always wanted to do this and someday I will. Great advice and glad you enjoyed yourself.

Well said in your conclusion of your experience winter camping. Try it first with someone knowledgeable , then purchase the equipment if you love it.

I would like to know more about the the sleds used to haul your gear in. I have the one most often seen in use by ice fishermen from C.T. but it spends a lot of its time on its side when bush whacking.

You should reach out and give Chris a call at Algonquin Basecamp. The sleds were his and we had a few options.
