Due to a health scare in 2017, we decided to start enjoying life more outside our business. We bought a Lodge on the east coast of England and started vlogging our daily adventures

You need to get T-shirts made "Hope theres a coffee shop" is Leigh's favourite saying. This will be a more relaxing part of the holiday when you were driving through that rain heading to Dallas was so glad when you managed to get a hotel

Smashing vlog. Southfork brought back memories. I thought the Poisoned Dwarf had been left out but she popped up with her own bedroom (no idea why Lucy was called that in our household). I remember them sitting round the pool and gales of wind blowing their hair everywhere - except Bobby’s. I had never seen Dealey Plaza from those angles especially from the tower. I was 7 years old and to this day remember where I was (Granny’s home in Glasgow) when the news of the assassination came on the TV.
Gillian it was Terry Wogan that nicknamed Lucy The poisoned dwarf.

So sad to see the trash on the beach. I have been lucky enough to do a lot of traveling over the years. I was on Lombok in 1992 and the beaches looked like nothing like that. So sad 😢
Really interesting video. I was so surprised to see Southfork was in such a built up area.
I met Larry Hagman at a book signing in Meadowhall. I was sad to see that not many people turned up as Dallas was huge back in the day.

You're bringing back memories to me. I remember I missed the show when JR got shot because I had moved to another state. It did look smaller than it looked on the show. Such a fun day with eating & drinking too. That bread pudding looked delicious.😋✌️👍

Oh Southfork Ranch, memories of watching Dallas came flooding back. Loved it. I thought you were very respectful when you visited the site of the Kennedy Assassination, must have felt very strange to be standing at the place where it occurred. How high was that tower, surprised you didnt get vertigo. Oh and that Scotch Egg looked amazing
Well this was a bast from the past. Dallas was huge back in the 80's here in Australia it was on either Tuesday or Wednesday night and it was a big deal. I would have 3 couples over for fondue and Dallas every week. We were all young newly married couples. Thanks for the memories. I was 4 when President Kennedy was assassinated but I definitely remember it. Very sad. Enjoy the rest of your trip. 💜

Hey Guys, loving the video of your USA road trip. I noticed that Nick is able to pay at pump for fuel, how do you get around the zip code requirement at the pump? Keep up the great vlogs!!
Everything’s bigger in Texas, that hotel certainly was 😮
I never was big on the primetime soap operas, of which “Dallas“ was one of the most popular. But I do remember the whole “Who shot JR?” business. Lots of TV shows use location exteriors and then shoot almost all the interiors on a sound stage, sometimes in a totally different part of the country. Even though I’ve been to Dallas a couple of times, I was never able to do anything really touristy because there just wasn’t time. But the last time, which was over 20 years ago, I did get to go to a Texas Rangers game in Arlington, which is basically in between Dallas and Fort Worth.

Wasn't there a few episodes where they did scenes of looking for oil on southfork not sure if it was the reboot series , but I remember a storyline of oil digging on southfork

The castle looking building is the 1892 Dallas County Courthouse.
it has been recently announced a significant part of southfork land has been sold to developers for private housing.
They have made a compromise and said they will not develop or touch the ranch house and pool but sad to see it change
I’ve been in Florida for 2 weeks and playing catch up, but your trip is brilliant, the bread pudding looks like mine but I bet it tasted better. You will have to make it Nick !

When I visited the place where carter was shot I went into the museum it’s very interesting. I nearly got run over having my photo taken on the cross 😂😂 there were people doing free sort of information tours showing the grassy noll and the bullet holes. It’s was such an interesting day. I was disappointed when I went to the Alamo it wasn’t what I expected.
It was Kristin, sue Ellen sister who shot Jr, but Elena shot JR 2nd time around, she was John Ross Mexian wife or lover, JR double crossed her family, but Barnes was set up, but it was Elena who shot JR

Fabulous vlog my Dad was a fifa referee and he spent many times in Dallas and visited Southfork Ranch he was a referee in the under 25s World Cup he loved it . Your hotel is huge think I’d get lost as well. Glad your friend got to join you both I’m loving the vlogs from this road trip what a fantastic time your having . Hope all’s well xx

Hi do you get to visit all the rooms? Because from the tours I’ve seen already and from what I can from the outside, I got the idea that there are parts of the house that aren’t opened to visits. For example those windows on the rooftop link to wich rooms? Is there only a bedroom upstairs?

I was 12 years old when Dallas first aired on the BBC. I used to watch it with my Mum, my Dad always used to moan as he couldn’t stand It. I tried to watch the reboot but it just wasn’t the same.

A certain British sci fi show started the day after Kennedy Assassination and the BBC repeated the first episode the following week before episode 2 because people were more interested with Kennedy Assassination

I never watched the Dallas series. I was enlisted in the Air Force back then and really didn't have time to watch tv, But I definitely heard about it all the time, and about the murder scene. Not sure if JR stayed killed or not. I joined the AF and got stationed at Cocoa Beach, Fla. The guy who played JR had been in the I Dream of Jeannie tv series, set in Cocoa Beach. So I was excited about that. Never found a house that belonged to them, but in my AF unit, we spent a lot of time out at the space center.
Still time to go back and watch ALL episodes of Dallas for you lol
if you think that lift is fast you need to go to dubai and go up the burj khalifa the tallest building in the world . that's a view you need to do in your life. i cannot recommend dubai enough .
Friday night was Dallas night, along with Magnum PI at 8pm, Dallas at 9pm, then Miami Vice at 10pm. Never failed, was the few times I was allowed to stay up that late when a kid. lol It amazes me how you call all pickles gherkins when a gherkin is a small looking dill pickle here and the ones for frying are the regular full size dill pickles.
