I've been painting miniatures for years and using washes for almost as long, but this is the first I've learned about 'erasing' tide marks by reactivating the wash medium. This video is worth it just for that, to say nothing of the rest of the excellent work within.

pink primer for yellow does wonders
The quads in the beginning are bloody gorgeous. I absolutely love these two mechs and these are probably the best looking Scorpion and Goliath paintjobs i've seen.
I just hope the upcoming redesigns of these two mechs look good.
The Emperor looks great as well. Never liked that particular sculpt (the Primitive is much better) but your paintjob actually made it look very nice.

Army painter washes are good, recently I started using oil washes. They are very easy to use, cheap and can be mixed to any colour shade. They take a little longer to dry 30mins and 24hrs to cure, don't react with acrylics and can be painted over water base paint once dry.
I've started using oils as well and they are great. They're a bit more involved and advanced than the beginner/easy methods here aimed at new painters and some folks don't like the chemicals involved with thinning and cleaning up oils.
The tide marks I end up using, depending on where they are, as unit markers. Idea came from a friend who was asking how I IDed units etc...I paint over them, with in the shape, with different colors so I can some kind of unit mark for a lance etc...working with things more or less.
That's a clever idea and great way to make your units unique.
Also, using GW washes instead of AP, would Seraphim Sepia be the equivalent for AP Soft Tone?
I believe Seraphim is closest to the soft tone but I don't own any to say for sure. Definitely not as dark as Agrax.
Thin the paint with proper acrylic paint thinner and you don't get the bubbles.
