- How did life begin? There can hardly be a bigger question. For much of human history, almost everyone believed some version of "the gods did it". Any other explanation was inconceivable.
That is no longer true. Over the last century, a few scientists have tried to figure out how the first life might have sprung up. They have even tried to recreate this Genesis moment in their labs: to create brand-new life from scratch.
So far nobody has managed it, but we have come a long way. Today, many of the scientists studying the origin of life are confident that they are on the right track - and they have the experiments to back up their confidence.
This is the story of the birth of life on Earth.

@Alex Bill Let's entertain the possibility of God somehow being the driving force behind evolution. Creationism still isn't compatible with evolution let me explain,
Evolution is often said to be "blind," because there's no outside force guiding natural selection. But changes in genetic material that occur at the molecular level are almost entirely random this means that the likelihood of a useful or a useless mutation occuring are identical.
Even if we were to accept the unsubstantiated assertion that God somehow guides the evolutionary process it still isn't compatible with the natural world. Ask yourself the simple question...why did god create the universe the way he did? We know that the universe is about 13.7 billion years old but modern humans did not emerge until about 200 thousand years ago. Why would god wait this long if his sole intention was to create us in the first place? Now you could argue that perhaps god is like an artist who creates to suit his aesthetic preferences but this very idea renders the hypothesis unscientific because it's unfalsifiable.
The only hypothesis that is compatible with the universe as we know it is, naturalism.

The principle is the change with the passage of time. He made first simple things and then made complexity out of that. Question Dr sahib what is the probability of formation of those catalysts. So my dear socialist bhai do not walk blindly in the wilderness and think about the possibility of a single atom from nothingness or no where ness in the first place.

Yes, the probability of life arising in this universe ( as we understand it) is extremely low, but that is exactly my point. Didn't god create this universe to create us? Why is that much of the universe is a chaotic mess? Isn't it also supposed to appear designed? Is god an incompetent creator? Or is he like an artist who creates for the sake of creating? If he is like an artist why is he like that? Why would he create this universe in a way that is virtually indistinguishable from a universe that can arise on it's own when his job is to convince us.
I can understand why you find the argument from sheer improbability convincing, but trust me it's not. First Its true that if you change the parameters of the early universe things would look a lot different, but to say that therefore life couldn't exist is certainly not true, I would only accept it if someone tells me the conditions under which life can exist. Secondly, by asserting that the likelihood of life appearing are very low therefore a god must have intended for us to exist, you're severely underestimating your God. In theism life isn't purely physical, it isn't simply a set of atoms doing things like it is in according to science. I would expect that no matter how the universe and atoms looked god could still create life because he can do anything. God doesn't create what earth's Gravity is he can do what he wants, ponder over it comrade.
* Do not blindly walk in the wilderness, umm what? Aren't you the one who believes in talking trees and flying donkeys?
