  • In this lesson we are going to apply the following steps in our residential building project using Etabs .
    Define Load Patters
    we are going define the following load patterns:
    Dead Load ( self weight)
    Wall Load
    Parapet Wall Load
    Partition Wall Load
    Floor Finish Load
    Live Load
    Seismic Load
    Roof Live Load
    Wind Load
    Define Diaphragm
    we are going to define and assign diaphragms for each floors
    Define Mass Source
    we are going to define the mass source and get the percentage of live load from IS code to use in the mass source.

    Ctrl+All and apply D1 to all of the frame. This way sloping stairs will also come into diaphram. Kya aisa theak rahe ga?

    why you are not assigned the IS code for sesmic & wind load ?

    1. when and why do we need to assign different diaphragm for different floors?
    2.we don't have shell element on the ground floor except rising stair and yet you assigned diaphragm, can you elaborate me about please.
    3. while defining mass source, doesn't the program consider additional load if we check only "specified load pattern"

      dear Abdulzahir.
      to check the eccentricity we need the center of rigidity and that obtains when define diaphragm, that is why I have defined diaphragm in ground floor.

      No the program does not consider additional loads.

      @@ehsantutorials5020 what about the purpose or advantage of assigning different diaphragm for each floor rather than assigning a single D for all floors

      @@abdulzahiraliyi8675 Some designers just select all the frame members (Ctrl+All) of all the stories and apply single diaphram. But I don't know when method is correct.
