Reading & Northern 4-8-4 #2102 returned to the mainline for one final test run before next weekend's first Iron Horse Ramble. The last test would be the most spectacular as the Reading T-1 hauled a 100 car empty hopper train from Port Clinton to Tamaqua unassisted. The locomotive again performed excellently marching the large train north with ease. Enjoy!

This is easily one of the greatest events in 21st Century steam preservation history.
Absolutely and we're lucky enough to have it here in the Northeast.
Schuylkill Shifter 2022: Same as 1991. Same locomotive. Same man behind the throttle. It's amazing what Andy Muller has done with his railroad. It should be an inspiration to all rail enthusiasts.
This video is an excellent example of the sheer difference in volume between a steam locomotive putting on stack for a show, and a steam locomotive putting on stack because it's working hard.
Sure you can open the throttle up and make a lot of noise.
But nothing can really replicate the deafening roar of a steam locomotive truly using all of it's power.
History repeating itself nearly twenty years later.
Mark 1 video productions caught an identical move this engine made in 1991
Thirty one years ago, actually.
Nice. Decided to kick the can on seeing this move since I saw the previous run. Looking forward to the ramble next week though
Interesting locations and camera positions!
Well done! Thank you so much
I am enjoying all the film's of this loco, but does anybody have film of a full coal train hauled by her? Brilliantly filmed. I live in Newcastle Australia.👌👍✅
Really great video! Great job filming, great job on your write up. Thanks for sharing!
Outstanding!! What a treat to watch!
Fantastic!!!!!
Awesome video friend!!
Great video once again! I especially liked the first shot, never saw that before. Is that just outside of Port Clinton on one of the long straightaways?
Notice the booster engine cut in.
The whistle does sound the same as in 1991.
MY GOD 844 take notice
It's extremely ironic how 2102 can pull 100 hoppers completely unassisted, yet 4014 can't even pull 10 passenger cars without a diesel pushing him.
@@BenBensonStudios the diesel is supposed to shop with brakes, positive train control, and assisting 4014 incase of emergency
I'm sure the 4014 can handle it no problem.
However, UP and it's operations won't let 4014 use it's full potential. They even said they won't let it pull freight.
@@BenBensonStudios I'd like to see 4014 in revenue freight service as they did with 3985.
@@vena.sera4237 Oh well, there goes that idea.
Steam engine pulled a freight cars today.
What causes the occasional short puffs of white condensed steam in the exhaust starting at c. 2:20?
