    There is a very important difference - the non-Pro runs the 32-bit version of the OS whereas the Pro runs the 64-bit version. Certain apps, like HBO Max, freeze and stutter on the 32-bit OS when running in 4k

    I often find myself when searching useful content from channels is that I have to set the playback speed to 1.5x the normal speed to hurry things up as I find there is a lot of wasted airtime either talking slowly or just the person not getting to the point quickly enough. I noticed you speak efficiently and at a pace which covers all grounds in an easy to understand manner. You took the time to share useful informative information in a clearly laid out presentation, and for that you have a new subscriber. Thought I would offer my comment as a job well done and to point out some of your strengths I see your channel brining to the table. Well done sir!

      Imagine if they if Nvidia ever decided to make an m1 Apple CPU for this thing and then it was also made for smart TVs if a&d ever decided to make one for a phone could it actually do native AK video? And also run games like a low end laptop could do in Windows right now? At 1080P or 4K at low resolution settings cuz the Apple m1 CPU can do that almost at PlayStation 3 like quality right now? Heck if they could do that and the iPad pro could even use an igpu we could even see these little shield TVs devices use egpu boxes not that makes you wonder if Chromebook could do it and even Android if Apple can do that with their m1 CPU in 2023 for iPad pro if they fix it for the Mac mini with thunderbolt 4 because it's going to have the same proprietary port on all their mobile devices and even on Android and Chromebook and these going forward and of course even smart televisions!

    1. Atmos and DTSX metadata work through HDMI 2.1, this tool gets 2.0b, so how does it allow that surround formats?

      doesn't the 2015 support bitstream audio out? Atmos should work fine "on it" as a pass-through to a receiver or tv, or the software on it, like kodi, should be able to decode and downmix it on that hardware, the chip hasn't changed much internally.

    I purchased Nvidia TV PRO in April to use on my 2014 UN55HU6950 Samsung TV HD 4K.
    I have used the built in apps to watch Netflix, HULU, Amazon, You Tube, etc and also my Amazon + Firestick. No issues with Audio or Video on either.
    I have now used my Nvidia TV Shield PRO and I have a glitch with the video. The quality of video is fantastic, as well as the speed of operation, and no buffering issues. My problem is that randomly, no usage or time pattern I can note, the programing is running, suddenly the video goes dark screen but the audio continues, lasts for a few seconds, then normal again. It can happen with longer or shorter occurrences between fails, but always lasts about the same length of time.
    I've used the TV set up control function to match the HDMI HUB to identify the Nvidia and to not ID. I've also tried restarts and resets to factory setting and restart from the beginning.
    I always end up with the same fail symptom.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated?
    I've tried all four HDMI Ports, same? I don't know if I have an Nvidia or TV HUB problem?
    Thank you for your time.
    Tom

      It is hard for me to say, chances are there would be a noticeable difference between your televisions upscaling and the Shield. Typically the apps won't perform as well on a TV as they will on a Shield. The Shield runs super smooth and fast with full versions of the apps. You can also play games on the Shield. Hey, Barret I picked up a pair of Klipsch Rp 8000f for black Friday. My receiver is rated at 165 watts at 6 ohms. I used the Polk audio tsi 300 for 7 years. These speakers were rated at 90 db and 8 ohms. I played these pretty loud and they still are running strong. According to Klipsch customer support the 8000fs need 150 watts at 8 ohms. Do I really need an external amp? Or could I run these with just my receiver? Anyway hope you had a great thanksgiving!

    Great review! I've had my Nvidea Shield Pro for almost a year now. I quite like it. The number one feature for me was Gamestream, as it allows me to play any game from my PC that is located on the other side of the house, but on the same network. Also gives you the option (if you're a little technically inclined) to install apps that are not on the Google Play store. Xbox game pass is a notable one and allows you to use Xbox's game streaming - and while that technology might not be fully mature yet (which is probably why it's still not officially supported), it works great for less demanding or slower paced games that don't require very low latency. For just a media streaming device, it's also great and supports all the latest video and audio technologies - one of the best streaming devices on the market. It's 2021 now and if you can find a good deal for one, it's great. At 200$, I'd find it expensive - especially given that most TVs sold now have some kind of streaming capability built in.

      Hey, I know this was 7 months ago but I can tell you exactly why your favorite games were removed. Steam has been working with Nvidia to bring Steam Cloud Play to the nvidia shield tv. Game developers realized they weren’t gonna be able to rob gamers by having them purchase their game on multiple devices so they blacklisted their games making it so that their games can’t be played on GeForce now. Basically what steam is doing with steam cloud play is making it so that if you own a game on steam you can play it on your shield tv without having to re purchase the game. Hope this helps even tho it’s a super late reply.

    I do have some caveats when it comes to the shield. It does have those phantom android issues that require a reboot. The remote is too sensitive. I can't tell you how many times I've bumped into the remote and it has suddenly switched over to Netflix due to the big Netflix button. A big miss is that there is never a subtitle, audio, etc. button on any of these devices, and the dolby vision support is limited to single layer only right now. No multilayer support (unless this changed recently). So if you are playing a remuxed file that has a Dolby Vision layer AND a regular HDR layer or HDR10 layer, the media player will not recognize it properly and play the content in SDR, where it looks terrible (this is why right now releases are coming out in regular HDR versions and separate DV versions to avoid this issue). That said, I agree. Best player out there hands down, despite my caveats I love the thing.

    This is what I dont get: All of you guys praise this Shield into heaven. It cant HDR10+ and it cant do ANY type of DTS, right now (only passthrough). How many titles have Dolby Vision? Not that many ... There are boxes out there that can do this, so its not ... the best ... box for videoplayback. Its a good box, but not the best, it has some major flaws for being this, and those are never told.

    • @SpecOfTech
      @SpecOfTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In all honesty I would prefer it to passthrough DTS codecs to my processor as it will do a better job than a box anyway. I agree that it is disappointing that it can't do HDR10+. But you can't just point out the 2 flaws it has, and then ignore everything else that it does better than almost every other box out there. It truly is one of the best boxes out there, even with it's flaws. What box would you consider to be better than this one?

    • @mb-ql1gb
      @mb-ql1gb 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SpecOfTech Of course, if you have one ... if you only have a TV and even no soundbar which is capable, youre watching a soundless video.
      But those 2 points are major, why? I collect Blurays since about 10 years. Most UHD have HDR+ and not any kind of Dolby Vision.
      And most blurays do have DTS. So why is it better? Only because you can play games on it?
      A car is meant to drive, of course you can jump it, but that does not turn it to a perfect plane. Again, in my eyes it does not reach a "perfect" mediabox. Its perfect for streaming blocky "DRM-Content". But unless you are willing to use it as a local mediabox and convert your files, it does not a perfect job.
      I am not against these box, but I am against this "perfect" what I hear in mostly every video about the Shield, and it shows to me that most people dont know where they speak about and dont know specs at most.
      Also price is important. The shield costs about $200, and it is worth its price, of course. A HiMedia Q10 is cheapter, but a better -local- player (capable of decoding or passthough of all type of DTS). So at least you have everytime Audio with this box. TO be fair: This is an old box, no more developed, so not the best buy, but there are alternative boxes around.
      Specs about Shield only tell: AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, MP3, WAVE, AMR, OGG Vorbis, FLAC, PCM, WMA, WMA-Pro, WMA-Lossless, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD (Passthrough), DTS-X (Passthrough), and DTS-HD (Passthrough).
      So I guess it even does not decode the plain DTS-Core and there is no chance to play any kind on video that uses simple DTS, unless there is something done in software.
      In my eyes, THIS is a very big dealbreaker for a -local- mediaplayer which should, at least to be mentioned, but most "prayers" dont speak about downfalls of the shioeld at all, its something I recognized, after some videos, most are very hyped about this box ...
