I mean if you think about it not really. Seeing as Dj. Grooves was behind the dark voice in the "murder on the owl express" and in one of the trailers Dj. Grooves said he didn't want hat kid to die unless it was by his hands. So if anything Dj. Grooves fits the theme alot better.
DJ grooves definitely has more of an impact but the conductor being the evil one seems to suit the story more. I just wish I got to choose who turned out to be evil
JC Stone I just couldn’t beat the score I had on the conductor levels, even though it wanted DJ to win I couldn’t beat 1200p with his levels cause they were so boring to replay
They couldve changed up some attacks just visually between the two fights, for example... Dj grooves could have a raygun instead of a knife The conductor could drop a pack of dynamite instead of a disco ball DJ grooves could use a rocket instead of dynamite in the second phase Just some examples.
Heya, I'm writing a wattpad book for A Hat In Time, and was wondering if I could use this to make the battle more interesting in my story :0 If you would rather have me not use this I completely understand, since that's why I wanted to check first, but I would of course give credit ^^
My favorite voice lines: *I HATE YOU, DARLINGGGGG!* 6:45 *HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME LASSY* 13:39 *SLICE OF LIGHT* (i dont think i heard it right) 9:01 I love almost all conductor voice lines in this boss
I think I might like DJ's battle a little more. I did both fights and they're both good. I think it has something to do with the voice lines. I'm not sure how to describe it. I guess it's 'refreshing' to hear DJ scream and threaten the player. Dunno why, I just enjoy his lines more.
Battle wise, I think Conductor takes the cake. It kinda feels off to have Grooves wielding a knife, and I absolutely LOVE it when Conductor makes a reference to his movie in the “this one ain’t rubber!” line. But as loads of these comments say, it makes more sense for grooves to fight us in the context we’re in. It’s nice seeing his movie star façade disappear, the oldies music with the diner table during the heart-to-heart, the owls and the fact he kind of doesn’t stand a chance to the conductor. I honestly love these two and I wish that a second AHIT would come out so we could see more of them:
Darling! Come here! I have the defusing device! What? You WANT to explode? That can't happen! Why? Because the boss battle needs to be longer! Also, because the bomb is a nice plot point! BOSS BATTLE! DJ Grooves tries to explode you.
@@atlasguytinyproductions55 Because if he likes the Conductor, he doesn't want to harm him. If he doesn't like DJ Grooves then of course he wants to hurt Grooves.
I read a thing that said it made more sense to fight Conductor/ have him be the one get corrupted by the Time Piece, because he wants the ONE award Grooves won, whereas Grooves has lost like 48 times, he's slightly more justified in his want to go back and win more.
I feel like it gives dj grooves more character. The conductor is selfish and it seems more in line with him. The dj has a better reason AND it would be a cool subversion where you see a darker side of him. Both fights are pretty cool though not gonna lie.
it seems like Grooves is such a charismatic character all throughout and seeing him be the final boss is like catching off guard with the conductor its more like he's always been really self serving and all that but you never thought it'd come to this
What would happen if the player gets the exact same score total in both The Conductor's and DJ Grooves's stages? Which one do you fight? Does the game decide randomly, or does it result in a tie, possibly with extra dialogue? Can somebody please do this? I'd do it myself, but I'm too lazy (plus my computer lags a lot)!
I like how the Conductor is meant to be the obvious, but enjoyable, antagonist, while DJ Grooves serves as the twist villain you would not expect to turn on you.
I think if the boss fights weren’t identical in terms of attacks and instead they had attacks that fit their own characters better or just reskinned attacks it would be better overall.
@@omgitsthefbi772 Tbh yeah, it would've made more sense, as I detailed in some comments above. Both of them would've probably seen the latest loss as the end of their career in cinema.
Nah. I feel like the win makes whichever of the two become over zealous and needy. It gets to their head and makes them want to win more or in conductors case win the one that got away
I revisit this bossfight everytime and always think how the nailed it with a dilemma: Be good at something, yet be whiny when you're not perfect Or Be moderate at something, yet when someone manages to be better than you multiples times, you wish you had everything from them You're gonna take sides with your favorite but they're both still selfish in the end. I love the little details in the game
As many others have told you, the owls are the same owls from the parade level. As for why DJ Grooves even hires the owls in the first place when they usually work for Conductor, I can only assume it’s because the Moon Penguins are terrible at both playing instruments and handling knives.
How can I help you DJ Grooves? I need a time piece to clobbah dat dere Conductah! That's what we do best at MGE! You better get it back with the money back guarntee!
Having the conductor as the evil boss fight makes much more sense to me since he started the train bomb mission where he doesn't even care what would happen to the other owl.
my favorite part is when they start running around the area taunting you for example: 5:02/12:30 somebody should do a video of just them running around lol
Having done both fights, I can say I think that story wise, it fits DJ Grooves way more, especially in the voice line department, the slow deterioration into madness, the whole ‘conductor is a cheater’ part, I know everyone likes conductor more, I do to. But I have to admit- I think grooves just works way better in the narrative
I thought dj grooves was being a good sport with making the movies and i liked that about him and how he acted when we would do his missions. So naturally i preffered to support him more over the missions, after winning that though i thought we were all buddies and such and then “that” happened ;-;.
I love that when your fighting the conducter at one moment hes on the discoball and he says "HERE WE uhhh GOOO!" 'Cause the discoball took a while to fall
i like how when fighting the conductor, he has a more jazzy version of the tune just like how his movies are more western and old fashion like, while DJ Grooves has a more rock and newer era feel just like how his movies have a more newer era feel and also how his movies resembles something more like internet posts and videos.
At first I wanted to battle the conductor but I ended up with *GrOoVeS* So I fought him and when I found out the conductor had to save you from the bomb I loved it
Wow, I didn't even know you can fight the conductor, I must say though, the combat style is much more fitting with DJ Grooves, the use of disco balls, photos, the phrase "lady's and gentlemen" and the parade all seem like things the conductor wouldn't do. The only thing I feel fits the conductor better is the use of a large knife, and when DJ Groves does it it feels more like a hidden psychopathic side rather than unfitting. and on top of that DJ Groves has no voice line in the conductors fight? that's a bit odd. It's clear that they made the fight with the idea that DJ Groves would be the boss and than replaced him with the conductor later. I feel like in this way id almost prefer it to be impossible to fight the conductor, BUT I would have loved to see it be possible but give the conductor his own set of attacks that better fight his style, make it the same length and roughly the same difficulty, but fitting the conductor instead. I do like the middle bit in a way, it makes the conductor look like a complete jerk and DJ Groves has a much larger motive to be trying to kill you than the conductor.
I know I literally just fought it, but The Conductor is straight up my favorite boss fight in video game history. And I say that despite thinking this game is only pretty good so far.

Lord Mugfish Dj Grooves has more motivation though
I mean if you think about it not really. Seeing as Dj. Grooves was behind the dark voice in the "murder on the owl express" and in one of the trailers Dj. Grooves said he didn't want hat kid to die unless it was by his hands. So if anything Dj. Grooves fits the theme alot better.
The Conductor's whole thing is "Hey he has knives", and there _are_ a lot of knives in the boss fight...
Me:well that is not bad
Then I see the bomb
Me: wow……
Sup Nugget here! *gives you cold nuggets*
Tick-tock tick-tock! You're gonna blow up!
DJ grooves definitely has more of an impact but the conductor being the evil one seems to suit the story more. I just wish I got to choose who turned out to be evil
Technically you do by deciding the winner.
JC Stone I just couldn’t beat the score I had on the conductor levels, even though it wanted DJ to win I couldn’t beat 1200p with his levels cause they were so boring to replay
@@Ninja3050 true his levels were bad
Sooo Oggie Boogie, but with more Boogie and less oggie....and is also a penguin
Splinks Why am I okay with this analogy?
Boogie penguin
Splinks ii
Lol
13:09 DID HE JUST CALL HAT KID 'DARLING'?
ConnorPxlT Productions DJ Grooves. . . Is that you?
DJ Grooves has already killed the Conductor and I can see why
He’s controlling him
ConnorPxlT Productions OH MY JEEZ I DIDN'T NOTICE
the conductor's voice actor might of mis-read one of dj grooves's voice lines and they left it in the game
DJ groves has ruled on him too much
I love how the bomb defuser is just a comedically large pair of scissors
Dlc: why not both
They couldve changed up some attacks just visually between the two fights, for example...
Dj grooves could have a raygun instead of a knife
The conductor could drop a pack of dynamite instead of a disco ball
DJ grooves could use a rocket instead of dynamite in the second phase
Just some examples.
Oh you know what would’ve been better then parade owls for the conductor? If instead you had a trail of crows following you
Heya, I'm writing a wattpad book for A Hat In Time, and was wondering if I could use this to make the battle more interesting in my story :0
If you would rather have me not use this I completely understand, since that's why I wanted to check first, but I would of course give credit ^^
@@critter_core well this is a rather old comment and i stumbled upon it completely by chance but sure go ahead
@@Scrufus cool thanks xD
@@TheFPSKingsGaming yeah, and to follow the Conductor’s appreciation for trains, those can be used instead of the cars.
My favorite voice lines:
*I HATE YOU, DARLINGGGGG!* 6:45
*HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME LASSY* 13:39
*SLICE OF LIGHT* (i dont think i heard it right) 9:01
I love almost all conductor voice lines in this boss
It's 'slice of life'
THIS ONE AIN’T RUBBER
Why do I see you in all most every single hat in time videos
Sparkling Emolga *YOU GOT IT RIGHT*
14:29 PECK NEEEEEEEECK!!
8:55 CHECK THIS OUT!
9:22 this one ain’t rubber!
I think I might like DJ's battle a little more. I did both fights and they're both good. I think it has something to do with the voice lines. I'm not sure how to describe it. I guess it's 'refreshing' to hear DJ scream and threaten the player. Dunno why, I just enjoy his lines more.
DJ Grooves seems to have more "vile" behind his voice lines, especially in the heart-to-heart segment when he says "come and get it."

GENTLEMAN!!!!!!!
Conductor: ladies and gentleman!
Fightin' the Conductor...

Darling! Come here! I have the defusing device!
What? You WANT to explode? That can't happen!
Why? Because the boss battle needs to be longer!
Also, because the bomb is a nice plot point!
BOSS BATTLE!
DJ Grooves tries to explode you.

*C O N T R A C T*
now you watch your mouth
I much prefer the Conductor over Grooves. Glad i ended up fighting Grooves and not the conductor.
Wait, if you prefer the conductor than DJ grooves. Then why did you enjoy Fighting DJ grooves?
@@atlasguytinyproductions55 Because if he likes the Conductor, he doesn't want to harm him. If he doesn't like DJ Grooves then of course he wants to hurt Grooves.
I like the Conductor, but I’m glad I fought him because it was fitting and it was a twist
Conductor was winning but I didn't want to fight him, so I went and got a higher score on Grooves
I prefer the conductor but I think fighting him was better because... Well I dunno.
I read a thing that said it made more sense to fight Conductor/ have him be the one get corrupted by the Time Piece, because he wants the ONE award Grooves won, whereas Grooves has lost like 48 times, he's slightly more justified in his want to go back and win more.
Honestly, I'll always see Dj Grooves being the actual villain of the chapter, seeing the Conductor's fight it just doesn't make any sense tbh.
To me, it’s vise versa.
Actually, that makes sense. He lost to The Conductor a lot of times while The Conductor just lost once to DJ Grooves.
But the attacks are mixed up from these two.
I feel like it gives dj grooves more character. The conductor is selfish and it seems more in line with him. The dj has a better reason AND it would be a cool subversion where you see a darker side of him. Both fights are pretty cool though not gonna lie.
it seems like Grooves is such a charismatic character all throughout and seeing him be the final boss is like catching off guard
with the conductor its more like he's always been really self serving and all that but you never thought it'd come to this
What would happen if the player gets the exact same score total in both The Conductor's and DJ Grooves's stages? Which one do you fight? Does the game decide randomly, or does it result in a tie, possibly with extra dialogue? Can somebody please do this? I'd do it myself, but I'm too lazy (plus my computer lags a lot)!
NinjaPotato Lord never tried it, and now I am going to do it to see if it is possible (probs just defaults to the conductor)
killthekill64 !!! Let me know how it goes
NinjaPotato Lord it turns out it randomizes the winner
killthekill64 !!! Okay. I had a feeling something like that might happen. Thanks!
It randomizes the winner
5:53 its a giant pair of scissors
The manga was better.
xD?
Lokomoqo ?!
Agreed, and the plot is better in the anime
Fight me
lmao
Blue your profile picture is terrifying
We need these two in Hatoful Boyfriend.
I love how this guy beats DJ grooves without taking a hit but fails to pick up the time peice
Would be hilarious if DJ grooves did the *Club Penguin* dance
to be honest, the disco ball part of the fight matches DJ Grooves more.
it compensates for the conductor with the knife and bomb and saws fits him all the more
The Conductor sometimes glitches, making him vanish from the stage, and do it again.
Annoying Bunny I can't beat the level without it happening
Well, I've found a way to make it stop, you just need to put the graphics lower.
You can also just wait, it might fix itself, i mean, it worked for me.
Thanks for you help
Annoying Bunny omg it works and now I'm not getting anymore lag
I like how the Conductor is meant to be the obvious, but enjoyable, antagonist, while DJ Grooves serves as the twist villain you would not expect to turn on you.
I think this fight fits conductor better.
I thought it fit DJ Grooves better, but that's just my opinion. I don't really have much evidence to back it up though lol. Just personal preference.
imo conductor is better because the knife and bomb attacks make sense, DJ Grooves is just like "yeah I stole the bomb"
Soder mhm
Yeah but the music suits the DJ more tho
I think if the boss fights weren’t identical in terms of attacks and instead they had attacks that fit their own characters better or just reskinned attacks it would be better overall.
Wouldn't it make more sense to fight the loser instead of the winner?
_PowerStruck_ they say they cheated and they fight you for knowing
Some_randome_guy oh ok, I just thought fighting the loser made more sense because they would be mad you for having them lose.
@@omgitsthefbi772 Tbh yeah, it would've made more sense, as I detailed in some comments above.
Both of them would've probably seen the latest loss as the end of their career in cinema.
It would, yes.
Nah. I feel like the win makes whichever of the two become over zealous and needy. It gets to their head and makes them want to win more or in conductors case win the one that got away
I revisit this bossfight everytime and always think how the nailed it with a dilemma:
Be good at something, yet be whiny when you're not perfect
Or
Be moderate at something, yet when someone manages to be better than you multiples times, you wish you had everything from them
You're gonna take sides with your favorite but they're both still selfish in the end.
I love the little details in the game
The conductor looks nothing like a bird
*what if he faked his passport? to bird land?*
He kind of looks like a chocobo.
I think he's a owl
Yeah he look like a yellow eyeless dinosoar bird thing.......
Welp good bye logic
And my abillity to spell
Knucks he is a conductor, just that
something I really like is that the conductor just sounds pissed, but grooves sound full on manic
I wonder why at the end of the dj grooves boss fight the owls try to kill you instead of the penguins
Logan the gamer 123 Because those are the same owls from “the big parade” level
Theyre the same owls that DJ hired to play music in the parade.
the parade had owls in it
As many others have told you, the owls are the same owls from the parade level. As for why DJ Grooves even hires the owls in the first place when they usually work for Conductor, I can only assume it’s because the Moon Penguins are terrible at both playing instruments and handling knives.
Grandom Rye oh ya you have a point...but they could’ve replaced the attack with penguins snapping at you
Grooves sounds so broken inside when he talks during his bossfight.
I swear the conductor sounds like the singers of 500 Miles.
@BluTuber2020 Sounds like Flintheart Glomgold to me!
13:09
Conductor: Better hurry up, Darling!
DJ Grooves: *HEY THAT'S MY LINE, DARLING!*
DJ grooves reminds me of King Deedeedee
to me he acts/sounds like MTT from undertale
Boomerang Buddy whoops
I forgot if dedede was from Kirby or something else but if he was from Kirby then, same T.K, same.
How can I help you DJ Grooves?
I need a time piece to clobbah dat dere Conductah!
That's what we do best at MGE!
You better get it back with the money back guarntee!
Boomerang Buddy *Waddle DeeDeeDee*
Everybody gangster till owls start chasing you with knifes
Having the conductor as the evil boss fight makes much more sense to me since he started the train bomb mission where he doesn't even care what would happen to the other owl.
im just gonna say it-
i like this soundtrack more than your contract has expired
*DJ Grooves' theme*
Hell yeah
*DJ Grooves screams: TIME TO BRING OUT THE BIG GUNS!*
Wait why is he screamig Hat Kid is right there
I want Luigis Mansion 3 to have boss battles like a hat in time.
my favorite part is when they start running around the area taunting you
for example: 5:02/12:30
somebody should do a video of just them running around lol
This game taught me that defeated guys will tell you to "have a seat" but actually want to trick you.
Having done both fights, I can say I think that story wise, it fits DJ Grooves way more, especially in the voice line department, the slow deterioration into madness, the whole ‘conductor is a cheater’ part, I know everyone likes conductor more, I do to. But I have to admit- I think grooves just works way better in the narrative
i can't see DJ Grooves as a villain- I just can't.
I thought dj grooves was being a good sport with making the movies and i liked that about him and how he acted when we would do his missions. So naturally i preffered to support him more over the missions, after winning that though i thought we were all buddies and such and then “that” happened ;-;.
Here we...

*_GENTLEMEN!_*
I was so sad when I had to fight dj grooves. He was one of my favourite characters in the game
You feel very betrayed fighting him after he was so kind and generous and brought you to stardom. It’s why I like fighting the conductor more.
DJ Grooves’ Defeat Sound: I HATE YOU, DAAARLING!
The Conductor’s Defeat Sound: PECK NECKKKKK!
What the peck, you like hat Kid at the last act guys..
I love that when your fighting the conducter at one moment hes on the discoball and he says "HERE WE uhhh GOOO!" 'Cause the discoball took a while to fall
100% a hat in time comments
0% the battle bricks comments
i like how when fighting the conductor, he has a more jazzy version of the tune just like how his movies are more western and old fashion like, while DJ Grooves has a more rock and newer era feel just like how his movies have a more newer era feel and also how his movies resembles something more like internet posts and videos.
At first I wanted to battle the conductor but I ended up with *GrOoVeS*
So I fought him and when I found out the conductor had to save you from the bomb
I loved it
4:17 Here We Go Guys
FOR REAL I THINK DJ GROVES CONTROLED HIM CUZ HE SAID DARLING 13:09 [ GROVESANAMI CON FRIMED
It's a kind of um, "joke"
We could make it a meme if we wanted to
Wow, I didn't even know you can fight the conductor, I must say though, the combat style is much more fitting with DJ Grooves, the use of disco balls, photos, the phrase "lady's and gentlemen" and the parade all seem like things the conductor wouldn't do.
Actually he does have voice acting in conductor's fight. Must be some kind of bug.
What about the bomb and saws?
6:12 YEET, HUA!!
ok one thing i don’t understand is when DJ Grooves is like “oh the conductor cheated so i don’t win”
but how do you cheat in making a movie?
Just look at the conductor at 8:57 just watch what happens to him
I know I literally just fought it, but The Conductor is straight up my favorite boss fight in video game history. And I say that despite thinking this game is only pretty good so far.
I like how in the middle of the conductor fight, some of the disco balls blew up in mid-air 😂
