Bc the people who did the phantom manor refurb were so preoccupied with whether or not they could they didn't stop to think if they should. The story is arguably more confusing now and there were several other head scratching decisions (using the HM organ music in the ballroom at launch, which they changed back, and changing the music in the corridor of doors). The refurb is beautiful however and much needed, but man did they do some dumb things
Another one is why did the bride suddenly become evil at the end of the revised Phantom Manor ride, she becomes more sinister and tries to lure in the guests for no reason
My headcanon is that either A it’s not her and it’s some sort of trick the phantom is playing or B she just gets really bored being trapped there and wanted to spook people.
I think it's less than she's evil but more like she's gone crazy. Not that I think it's a good characterisation of her but I think that's what they were going for
