e-band is a musical collaboration of composers/instrumentalists Jim Aron and Robert Strizich. Each has extensive experience in the composition and performance of new music, augmented by a broad background in a variety of other musical forms-including early music, traditional art music of the common-practice period, experimental improvisation and post-bebop jazz.
Blending live instruments and electronic sounds in both real-time performances and recorded works, these two musicians explore the use of the computer as an interactive partner in the compositional process. .
The works on this recording were created using acoustic trumpet (played by Jim Aron), electric and MIDI guitars (played by Robert Strizich), pre-recorded environmental sounds, and a variety of computer-controlled digital synthesizers and samplers. The digital sounds were coordinated
using standard sequencing software, while specific materials for some works were composed with the assistance of several types of interactive software, including Opcode's "MAX". .
