Wilfred’s hasn’t been the same since Doc left. I’m super grateful for the time he was here because the bar/restaurant was way better than expected. We’ll be glad to visit your bar when you finally open it. Santa Rosa would be a perfect city for a tiki bar, by the way.
Minor detail; but in the list of ingredients it says "1/4 oz Doc Parks #1 (sub 2 to 1 demerara syrup and falernum)" - Doc says it's "2 to 1 demerara syrup and allspice dram". And then a barspoon of falernum.
I work for Future Bars at Bourbon and Branch and I can say besides the Tiki mainstays like Traders and the Tonga Room Zombie Village and Pagon Idol are some of the most awesome Tiki spots in town conceptually.
Great episode! So cool to see Doc on the show. Batten down the Hatches/Once a Villager is one of my favorite tiki drink! Also, I love Worthy 109, such a great and versatile rum.
Great episode and very informative! Thanks Doc! I can't wait to make this one. BTW, can we PLEASE open more good tiki bars on the East Coast (preferably mid-Atlantic area :D ) I know Bamboo Ben is building Ponche in Annapolis, MD, but we need more now that Archipelago closed.
Ordered my tour shirt. Got to experience Doc in Fresno at the Enchanted Moai Louge. A back yard bar. Tonight I made my own Once A Villager. Tasts pretty dam good.
Awesome episode. Doc is the man, always so full of great cheer and his cocktail game is right up there. Both Zombie Village and Wilfred's still lean on the cocktails he opened the venues with. So interesting to hear about the provenance of the Sparkle and Froth / Batten Down the Hatches / Once a Villager. And. yes., the cocktails at Tonga Room are really good now. We all hope it continues to last.
I met Doc at Wayne's S. tiki house party and he is amazing. Once a Villager was the drink that stared my evening. The combination made for a fantastic night. Doc's charisma flows like the rum he pours.
Fantastic episode and cocktail. Doc rules! His drinks are always top notch. Looks like a mistake or two in the recipe in the notes. The Doc's Spices #1 sub is a 50/50 blend of 2 to 1 demerara syrup and allspice dram (not falernum). He then added a barspoon of falernum. Plus don't forget the barspoon of Rum Fire (or any Jamaican white overproof) at the end. Okole maluna!
This was amazing. What an awesome dude!!!! Can't wait to try this recipe. It looks delicious!!!! Love that this episode was longer. Congrats Spike on finally quitting your day job. 🎉🗿🛖🍹🍹🥥🍍

Great episode with tiki history and tiki drinks!!!

"Kübler Absinthe" is from Switzerland. Now, "Vit Opal Absinthe" is a blanche from Sweden if you would like something similar but Swedish.

4:25 it is a fire dept standpipe for supplying water to upper floors during a fire.
Don't forget the Kapu Bar in Petaluma! Another very cool tiki bar just recently opened this year.

Man that is one for the books! I’m sure I’ll watch it several times. Great job and congratulations again about #endspikesdayjob
Zombie Village is one of my favorite bars in SF
This totally sounds like my kinda cocktail!
Great show! Great dink!. I checked out Docs tour dates and looks like he is scared of cold climates...I don't blame him ;)

Yooo. New breezeway barrel mug coming? Let's go!!!!
Anything that heads towards rum barrel or puka punch territory is my kinda drink!! Love it.
Doc's the man!
Hitting SF in March for a birthday weekend tiki tour. Now I know the first drink I’ll order at Zombie Village.
Spike your shirt totally matches this mug.
You guys make that drink look fantastic! Now I want snifters for my Tiki bar. Any specs on size/volume and where ya got them?
The Doc is making a house call. Spike turn your head a cough.
You need to come to Kansas city

For all in tents and porpoises
Wonder how big those glasses are? Anyone w an idea?
I use to live a couple blocks away from Honey Honey, I loved getting breakfast there🔥

“My plastic surgeon doesn't want me doing any activity where [pineapple] balls fly at my nose!” 😳🙄🤷🏽♂️🤣😜
Great episode - informative and fun. How well spoken is Doc though? Not a single 'um' in his entire delivery.
Episode going live… grab a tiki drink and sit back relax!
Shoot, saw this too late, would of went to Strong Water.
Peacock toilet mug!
Every self respecting tiki bar plays ween
