- My buddy, Damien, works designing immersive special effects. He came on the show to talk about the history of special effects in vintage tiki bars and we explore some of the stuff that he has contributed to tiki bars that utilize that technology. We're also shaking things up with a classic vintage tiki cocktail straight from Disney World's Polynesian Village Resort!
Don't forget to hit that subscribe button and ring that notification bell so you never miss out on a sip of the action!
To make the the drink in the video you will need:
--------------------------------------
3/4 oz fresh lime juice
1/4 oz simple syrup
3oz guava juice
1 1/2oz pineapple juice
2 1/2 coconut rum
--------------------------------------
Shake with pebble ice. Pour everything into a footed pilsner glass.

I just had drinks made by Garrett Richard at Sunken Harbor Club and now a new Spikes. This is a great day.
Loved tonight’s show. Your guest was super knowledgeable and not horribly drunk (ahem Brandy) and you two had a great rapport. I would love to see more videos like this and I can’t wait to see your new volcano.
Sweet burn. 👍🏻
lol
Vintage Disney Cocktail… yum
Diggin’ that octopus shirt!
Spike: Slams cocktail
Spike: Becomes drunk
Also Spike: Is surprised
lol
Fun episode. I need to make this drink. Looked up Damien's short "Zombie King of Balacombé" and watched. It was excellent.
I think we will be drinking this light refreshing tropical treat on our cruise in October!!
Damn Aaron Rodgers makes 70’s era Disney drinks too? Renaissance man
You really need to try the 2.0 we bump the rum to 2 oz the guava soda is really good in it and I’m not much of a guava fan if that makes any sense Great episode!
Great show!! Great guest!
For guava soda you could probably find a Juaritos somewhere in CA! I’d be interested to see it with that in it.
We tried it and it wasn’t good not a strong enough flavor at all
KAHIKI in columbus ohio was a huge theme polynesian restaurant with rsinstorms volcano meatballs, hula girl polynesian drinks, it was fantastic. They never should have torn it down.
So cool. I love the Tiki room, especially Trader Sam's. Holly 💩 I wanted to go to undertow for my birthday, but I procrastinated on reservations. I NEED to go!
You can always go to Captain’s Cabin. No reservations or time limits.
@gardgarland5293 thanks there are a few tiki bars. I had a vlog planned for adventureland planned. We also wanted to try the food. Last year, we only had drinks. Maybe we can get a walk up.
Also strong water may have openings as well.
Jumex Guava Nectar is yellow. Kern's is pink. Flavor's about the same, I guess. Jarrito's makes a nice Guava Soda, but it's only in one bottle in the Fiesta Pack of 12 different flavors. Have not seen it individually like the Lima and Mandarino bottles.
I combined the short ends of three different white rums into one decanter to make up my Kahuna Tiki Tailgate Bar kit. Cane Run [PR, 80 proof], Barbancourt Rhum Blanc [Haiti, 86 proof] and Wray & Nephew Overproof White [Jamaica, 126 proof] . Stout stuff.
Quick tip for pouring your guava juice: use the bottle the other way. The pouring spout should be on top.
After watching this one again I can’t wait to see what you come up with for the new and updated volcano 🌋 you know like a four or five foot flame wouldn’t be out of line just saying
lol
WELL, Waiting...........!!! Watching The LAST: Jimmy Buffett San Diego Concert for Ever.......SAD,,TIMES,,,,,,Moving On Down the Road,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Jimmy Will Be Missed to bring US All,,,to a Happer Time, even for an Evening..........Sail On Sailor.....!!!!!!!!!!
Poor Ole Bob's a Dyin' -- or Jimmy in this case. I'm sure the Old Pirate would want us to splice the Main Brace in his Honor. Cheers.
I like to make the 2.0 version at home with Bunderberg Guava soda
Hey, Spike. You know they sell Guava juice in large containers, right? 😂
lol
Gonna have a coconut-guava-cinnamon paste on the bar. But which did you prefer? Number one or number two?
I think the first one was better
According to the Mickey Around the World cookbook the drink is to be served in a real coconut. I can see that being the norm in the early days of Disney World.
Ooooh...
I’ve played around with this quite a bit and settled on following the original recipe, but with 2.25 oz of Rhum JM VSOP and 1/4 oz creme de coconut.
Sounds great!
Where did Damien get that awesome shirt?
Strongwater, I think.
i will replace the Malibu for rhum agricole Clement mahina coco
151 is Palmer krytonite! 😂😂😂
Or watching CHIPs. 😄
lol
Can someone post the new recipe
The Bu, can be okay. Don't take it seriously as a Rum, because it really isn't. It's more like a schnapps. So don't be hatin'.
I’m so confused, what does Disney have to do with tiki bars?
S’up?
