Oh my! I'm so happy to have come across this channel. This video especially made me so nostalgic. I grew up here, went to Arina primary school, my mum used to work at Police Dog HQ.(Cop). We used to live in the demolished old houses before those beautiful ones were built. Later we relocated to some temporary houses huko Shauri Moyo to give room for demolition. Thank you so much for this video.💕💕
You did not get into Arina Estate...from the Regional Police Dog Unit HQ, straight ahead is the Shauri Moyo NHC estate, turn left, PEFA Christ Church/School is on your left. Straight ahead is Arina Estate. You turned right and the road has Arina Estate/Arina AIC Church on the left with Shauri Moyo Estate/Shauri Moyo Primary on the right. At the Full Gospel Churches of Kenya right turn, Brilliant Estate with the shopping centre on your left, onto the roundabout at Prinias Hotel into Pembe Tatu on your left, ShauriMoyo on your right. After the turn before Star Hospital, you entered Kaloleni/Ololo Estate... Nice seeing my childhood neighborhoods ~ Born and raised in Arina Estate
I have subscribed to your channel because you have reminded me when I was in high school in Kisumu, i used to walk in Lumumba, pembe tatu, kaloleni, Migos a mong others
You were not in Arina. That neighborhood is Shaurimoyo, Arina was to your left hapo kwa the big church...then at 11:03 you entered Kaloleni estate which is to be demolished some time in the future.
Damn! This city is transforming so rapidly. I used all those roads all my life till 2005. Everywhere is now developed. I wish they make nice walking paths for pedestrians. I lived in the Manyatta Baraka area and always walked to Kisumu Union and Kisumu Boys past Joyland and Kaburini (now Polyview) Makasembo area. Kaburini was just empty land and a few people farmed on it. Fast growth. I hope the locals own the stuff. Again thanks for the videos.
Locals own everything. After years of insults towards the Luo Community the Luo diaspora have come through in droves to invest in Kisumu . You should Visit Lolwe, Polyview, Riat & Mamboleo then see how massive local investment is thriving.
@@nairobinyeusi5811 .... I'm a coastal Swahili and proud to hear locals own the place. Some people used to think they are so clever (business community)😉
Kaburini was not an empty land but cemetery full of graves. Kisumu used to bury thier dead there until it was full necessitating change to the airport area and then to mamboleo.
At 6:35 min mark, that's not Arina shopping center. That's Nubian where Brilliant Bar was located. Arina ulisha wacha kitambo. After Nubian is Shauri moyo. It's not Arina
I am a luo but never lived with luos in same apartment. How is it like? noisy with loud ohangla music i guess, luos are loud wherever we are. I have tried so much to avoid where they mostly live, i guess if i live in Kisumu i won't have peace.
The government must make sure that people don't build randomly, there must be a plan which include the designs of the houses, otherwise, it will end up looking very messy.
Hello hebu advice m where to live in kisumu in terms of security water electricity transport shopping centre and affordable bedsitter ranging from 6-7k

That church has been there for so long.. I'm now 30.. haijaisha??
Whaterver you're referring to us Arina Estate is actually Shauri Moyo and there was no slums were the the new NHC buildings have been developed.
