    This has been my favourite shmup of all time but I have never made a 1cc at it.
    Can't believe I watched your guide, your advices and, bam, a couple of hours later I actually cleared it for the first time in my life.
    Thank you so much Velgarde.
    Regards from Argentina.

    I've been practicing this game for a couple months... Just had my first 1cc up to the very beginning of stage 5 a few days ago. Learning Super Shot, and learning about the double bullet cancel for the waves on the right and left arms of the Big Bug in stage 3 - these are absolute game changers. Thank you for this!!!

    Loved this guide. I did something similar on my channel some years ago, I like how we cover a ton of the same concepts. These are the runs people need to see and the guides newbies would love to have.

    Stg 3 extend - completely destroy the 2 arms before putting damage in the center. Don't worry, you will have plenty of time to destroy the center if you wait. No need to start hitting it before the arms are dead. More consistent and avoids the problem in the video

    Excellent guide and a nice run. I got my 1CC with the standard M shot. Didn't know about the super shot either. I prefer the slower movement options but that's just a personal thing with me.

    Completely unrelated to mushi, but you explaining what a cut back is played a HUGE role in me getting my Dodonpachi clear. I knew about tap dodging, but didnt know that i was supposed to do a big movement in the direction i was tap dodging before cutting back. Thank you so much for that tip bro

    very nice guide for beginners. you should do one for maniac and maybe ultra too!!
    PS: s power is good when playing on original difficulty but on higher difficulties youll be better off with w power if you can abuse the "super shot" technique

    Stellar guide! I always enjoy watching Mushi runs and what's even better is hearing people either share their method or simply chat about the run casually. I subscribed immediately and would love to see more shmup stuff if and when available. The quality provided in this video is fantastic! As for myself, I did my first 1cc in ver1.5 quite a few months back and am deciding whether to jump into some Normal or continue on with 1.5 Maniac or Ultra. I can see these taking some serious effort but I've learned a great deal from some of the other things I've pulled off and am eager to overcome these challenges! Thanks again!

    • @dr_ubo
      @dr_ubo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Go with Normal Maniac man. Then Arrange, then 1.5 Maniac MAX. In that order. 😬

    best commercial shmup ever IMO. My fave non commercial shmup is phantasm romance. I'd like to get back into this game after so long, but I still don't have a stick, and my general shmup skills have been not-practiced for over 5 years... I kinda yearn to once again to though, and this game is my main drive to do so... *sigh*. I never had a stick, and am worried if I buy one, it will be a waste, because I'm a freak, and I actually do better with a keyboard than a gamepad, very torn.

    • @Velgarde
      @Velgarde  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Don't worry about not having an arcade stick! I also play better with a keyboard than with other options too. There's nothing wrong with getting back into shmups with keyboard to build up more confidence before investing into a stick! 👍

    Great, articulate guide that is easy to understand. This is helping a ton. Thank you. I just have one question. You said this took you a couple months. How many hours would you say it took to finally get the 1cc? I currently have 30 hours in this game and I still feel like there is a long way to go. Man I wish there were save states. I hate having to restart an entire level just to find out how to not get clipped by a boss. This is a GIANT step up in challenge from novice and novice maniac. Those only took me about 5 hours to 1cc. This is not even in the same ballpark. All memorization and muscle memory.

    • @Velgarde
      @Velgarde  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think I had around 40-50 hours logged by the time I could consistently 1cc this, but those hours might be a bit skewed since this was my first time playing on arcade stick.
      For practice mode, the Steam version at least allows you to skip to the beginning of mid-boss and boss sections per level, so you shouldn't have to restart the entire level. I find it helpful to take note of the sections that give me the most difficulty, and then count the minimum number of bombs I need to reserve to guarantee clearing those sections (to cover for any mistakes).
      Keep it up and you'll get the 1cc soon!

    • @golions13579
      @golions13579 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Velgarde this is also my first arcade stick game. I got a hori fight stick and threw in a Seimitsu LS-32 and went to town on Mushi.
      I didn’t know the steam practice mode allowed you to do that! I will 100% practice levels 4-5 that way.
      I can feel the 1cc coming but it’s gonna take some time. My biggest issue is the S-power super shot makes this a 4 button game leaving my pinky to focus shot as my index and middle finger are busy super shotting and my ring finger is bombing. This causes me not use focus as mush as I should for the denser patterns because the pinky feels wierd. What is your button layout for this game?

      @@golions13579 You can see my buttons at 2:10. I'm using my index finger for shot, middle finger for bomb, ring finger for full auto, and thumb for rapid shot (to trigger super shot). So, the leftmost 3 buttons on top row of the stick for shot/bomb/full auto, and then the leftmost button on the bottom row for rapid shot. I try to avoid relying on the pinky finger for the same reason!

  • @scaw-j

    This guide is awesome, thanks. But I don’t understand the super shot configuration at the beginning. After configuring the timings like you showed, we then hold both rapid shot and shot to use the super shot? This doesn’t work for me, it just moves at shot speed. Does this work on the steam version?
    Thanks again! I’m looking forward to practicing more with these tips.

    • @Velgarde
      @Velgarde  11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi, this video is playing on the Steam version.
      For the super shot, make sure you're holding down "Rapid Shot" and "Full Auto", not "Rapid Shot" and "Shot". Good luck!

    cant get supershot to work. the little display thing on the bottom left shows full auto being repeatedly pressed instead of held down and the formations just kinda get stuck instead of zooming in
