Sadly, for some reason the clip they used for that part of Giving Up in this video was edited, you can hear the sound hand-off after the scream is done. In the original broadcast he did that scream in 2 parts. Took nothing away from it, honestly, I have no idea why they saw the need to jack with it for this compilation. I agree with you, though, that high note right after was incredible.
Honestly, Chester's whole life is unforgettable. He suffered through abuse as a child and addiction, the death of his friend Chris Cornell. And he was - no, he still is - a legend, a great one at that. He sang songs that reached out to people, that people could relate to. His songs had meaning. Its a shame he died, and I send my regrets to the Linkin Family. Long live Chester Bennington.

That's probably the entire number of people that listened to linkin park. I don't think that hundreds of millions of people are suicidal. It is a niche part of human population.

Something happened to the music world when Chester died. He left a void. Wether you were a new fan or one that grew up on Linkin Park like i did. You felt it.
Absolutely, i still mourn him and think of him every single day . Me and Tobi ( his sister) write on Twitter every day, shes really suffering from loosing him, being bipolar just like Chester one can imagine. She always thought she would be the one to go first , having several suicide attempts behind her. She is so nice and i cherish our friendship❤
Me too, friend. I never realized it until it was too late, but Chester and Linkin Park was my first real stepping stone to music. I had focused more on different bands and metal later, but it was an unexpectedly hard blow to hear about him. I still feel the negative space he left behind, that you talked about, even to this day. He was truly brilliant and I wish I'd have gotten the chance to see them live or even hug him so tightly, that all his problems went away, and that he would feel the love, his fans had for him. We all love you, Chester, and we miss you.
I'm a new fan, and I agree Now his songs seems to be more dark and serious, and it brings even more pain, to know that a person who sang that couldn't take his pain so much he committed suicide Now I'm insecure and suicidal, and scared of anything, that reminds me of my past, even of good things, and scared of suicidal notes. And I used to listen to some Linkin park in childhood, even if I wasn't big fan of it. So... Now I'm reasonable listen to it, to make myself accept my own suicidal tendencies, and face my *real* feelings, and don't run from it and don't degrade of hidden pain It hurts af, but I feel how I'm slowly heal. It helped me much better, than "support" of some of my "friends" (but somes actually tried to help, and it really helped), and only therapy by itself R.i.p. Chester. One can save millions, but millions couldn't save one
Just in the past two years we've lost so much talent and now this. I may not have been a die hard Linkin park fan but this mans music, his voice, his lyrics, have been played in my household since I can remember. Rest In Peace to another greatly talented musician.
One of the best bands of our generation. The way Chester sang, the lyrics, the emotion put into performance is second to none. Chris Cornell and Chester were both dealing with stuff that nobody really can understand, and I miss them both so much. I will always have a lump in my throat listening to Chester sing crawling acoustic..
Ishmael Lagunas my cousin showed me that he died today....why do good people die? I always listened to linkin park as a child... Linkin Park died with him... RiP
I've cried for hours yesterday right after the news hit. Today I wore my favourite Linkin Park shirt, all black and a black ribbon around my arm. A couple of random people on the street looked at me with this sad expression and smiled, there were a lot of moments of solidarity. I can't even describe this feeling... We lost an idol, I, personally, lost the voice of my youth, the voice that's been with me for every single ones of my breakdowns and meltdowns from the very start. I can see it in everyone's eyes, how sad they are, how hurt they are... We're in this together, we're holding on, we'll never forget you, Chester, we'll never stop loving you. You formed me as a person, you helped me through so much, all of Linkin Park did. I'll continue to wear LP merch and a black ribbon on my arm for at least a week, as a way to pay my respects, to mourn. There's just a hole in my heart that nothinn will ever be able to fill again. Rest In Peace
Mirae Blumenmädchen you're amazing. Although Chester may be dead he still lives through his music and the millions of people he inspired. You're one of them. So in a way you carry him with you as well. Take care of yourself :)
Mirae Blumenmädchen Have no words man i feel the same its strange i still cant believe that he did that :( its like emptynes in me i listened him for all my past 10 years and more my dad let it from when i was baby i cant this is just hurtfull...
That was pure talent I can't even scream on my friend when he dose some mischief , I never met you Chester but now you officially entered my heart RIP 😭🥺🥺
Dude had one hell of a fucking voice. Always respected him regardless of whether or not I liked LP's newer music. R.I.P., your music was a huge part of my youth. All those rainy days on my long bus ride home listening to Hybrid Theory and Meteora on repeat.
I wasn't ready for this. I'm sad my daughter who isn't here yet is going to enter a world without him. She won't get to see her old man act like he's 17 again. This is what breaks my heart. We all miss you brother. Thanks for everything
Listen to your heart Those angel voices They'll sing to you They'll be your guide Back home When life leaves us blind Love keeps us kind It keeps us kind
...I do... Chester you are the first icon i ever cried for. Yesterday was the day MY music died. :*( You are my "Elvis". Prayers and love to your family and the guys.
it's crazy how in his 2017 performance of "Crawling" that you can hear his emotion... of course hindsight is 20/20 but a few points it sounds like he is on the verge of tears... if only people understood how he was feeling, such a wonderful life taken far too early...
It really does sound different in comparison to the other times he's sang that song. Like he's had enough, given up. It all became too much. There's more pain and sadness in that song than any other time it's performed, and it's always been such a painful song with such strong emotion to it.
I don't know when was this exactly in 2017 but it might have been right after his best friend died which would make a lot of sense that he sang this song and got so emotional
Never met this man in my life but I miss him so fucking much. I had the honour of being in the front for their last ever show in Birmingham. R.I.P Chester 🖤
That piano rendition of "Crawling".................. damn. Goosebumps. Rest in peace man. A talent like that will surely be missed in this world. Thoughts and prayers to his family and band.
I'm at a loss for words. Why do the best always die young? By far one of the biggest shocks in music history. By far one of the best vocalists the world will ever see. Rest in peace Chester. You will always be remembered as one miracle of a musician and a man. My thoughts are with your family, your friends and your bandmates. Rest in peace
Aris Koumbanakis Chester was truly an amazing vocalist and an amazing person (except for a few bouts) I just don't understand why he would do this I understood that he was hurting but if I was him I would've at least tried to push through just with the knowledge of helping so many other people that were also hurting
deadly army i was born in 98 and im from Puerto Rico I listened linkin park before i even knew how to speak English because of my older brother, linkin park and eminem will always be the greatest for me, im really sad, see someone who you grew up watching die is really sad
I've been listening to him for all 19 years of my life, this is literally the first time I cried over someone who was famous and I cried like a baby, still am
Tom Bedlam I’ve tried and it’s fucking impossible after ravaging your throat on the scream, to immediately sing such a high clean note as “Given UUUUUUUUP!”
i'm at a loss for words, Chester was a beautiful person who cared for others by sharing his beautiful creativity. Him and his music will always have a special place in my mind, ever since my youth. Seemed like a wonderful guy and i would have loved to meet him one day. Rest easy Chester, you deserve it after all your hard work.
1:53 listen to the whole thing. Its One More Light on Jimmy Kimmel's show, This song probably had the biggest hit for me. You can literally see the band struggling b/c of Chris Cornell.
Joey Chamera it's a phenomenal live performance and a phenomenal song that's taken on a new meaning because of Chris' death and because of Chesters death.
The scream he lets out during the "I do" part at the end of the performance is, I think, one of the best screams recorded. It is beautiful and it hurts so much :'(
"I just want to make sure, before we leave and go back home... that we pay our respect and share some of our love and our prayers for the families of the victims of the tragedies of the Manchester arena... My heart has never been broken so much than the day that I found out that tragedy happened. And since that day i've been wearing these little earrings with the beads in them. I know thats a symbol of strength and hope for the city of Manchester. And I'm going to keep these in... i'm going to keep these in... until all this nonsense stops and we can start loving each other. We can stop hurting each other because we believe in something different than the person standing next to us. The one thing that can't be defeated is love, right? You can conquer hate by ignoring it, but you can destroy it by loving the person next to you. So I want everybody here tonight, to look at the person standing next to you and just tell them that you love 'em and you... are happy that they're here with you tonight, having a good time... listening to music! Celebrating life! We don't care what you look like. We don't care where you come from. We don't care what you believe in, we love every single one of you out there... and nothing will ever change that." Chester Bennington, Birmingham, England, July 6th, 2017, Last concert before his suicide. Rest in Peace, Chester Bennington. You touched so many people and will never be forgotten. I cried when I found out he had died. Still bugs me. I struggle with major chronic depression and knowing that this awesome musician went thru it too helped me feel not so alone
That's really beautiful. I feel horrible for his family. I feel horrible for him. I wish he'd never ended his own life. I wish he found something, someone to understand and help him. I wish he had the chance to find relief, and a chance to live his life to the fullest.
KORN,LIMP BIZKIT, LINKIN PARK, SLIPKNOT, STAIND, STATIC-X, RAMMSTEIN, DROWNING POOL, DISTURBED,MUDVAYNE, MARILYN MANSON, SOAD, add more 90s your fave band
People might not like his music, but nobody can deny the fact that Chester was one of the most beautiful people in this world. His ability to love and cherish people, be so charitable and giving is something we can all see and respect. His horrid past of physical and mental abuse made him do this. This is just too sad. He wasn't just a legendary musician, he was a good man who cared deeply about people.
Chester had such a one of a kind voice. If Linkin Park gets a new vocalist that isn't Mike, I don't know if I'd be able to listen to them. Not because I don't want to give them a chance, but because it would be too painful. I didn't know Chester personally, but he felt like a best friend. Watching LPTV episodes and then the music made me fall in love with Chester as a person. He wasn't just another musician and I think I speak for hundreds, if not thousands of people on this. Chester was what helped shaped the band into who they were. And above all else, they weren't just a band, they were a family that loved one another.
Vocalists are always the hardest to replace because the band sounds obviously different. Whereas a guitarist or drummer isn't that much of a notice unless they're using completely different sounding equipment. I've stopped listening to Nightwish after they got rid of Tarja for that reason. I'm sure the other lady after and the new one now are great vocalists but they aren't Tarja. It would be the same for any other band.. the vocalist is the key part. Majority of bands I listen to have a distinct vocalist singer so I can tell who the band is by their voice.. Without Chester isn't going to be the same.
I know their last album was bashed and a lot of people said they sold out including myself, but now the album makes more sense. The song Heavy takes on a whole new meaning now and the album has some lyrics that hinted at this path. And I'm not the biggest Linkin Park fan like I use to be but Chester was one of the best singers I've heard live. Rest In Peace Sir.
Chester, i'm never going to forget you, your legacy, your talent, and the kind great soul you possessed. I'll never forget you. Thank you for making me feel less alone. I'm soo sorry that we couldn't help you. Love, forever. ❤
I can't believe he died. I am so stunned. His songs impacted my life significantly throughout my adolescence. God bless you all. Please keep him in your prayers. Rest In Peace.
I was a little too young in the beginning of Linkin Park to truly understand the lyrics but it still made me feel something with every song. As an adult, i got it. Whenever i was at my lowest or felt the weight of the world on my shoulders, i listened to them and it made me feel like someone out there understood what i was going through and i wasn’t alone. Losing Chester was a huge shock and hurt for me and many others, but this is one loss that just never really gets easier. This man spoke to generations and helped us all get through some horrible shit in life and it’s heartbreaking he couldn’t get this his pain and suffering. RIP to the legend, Chester. 🖤
Saw them about 5 or so years ago... tightest live band on stage. TIGHT! Graduated HS in 96. Was the one band I can say I had every album from the start and listed to everything they put out."LEAVE OUT ALL THE REST"RIP Chester Bennnington.
icy capybara me too. The song is so personal and filled with emotion. I was going through some of the hardest times in my life when this song was popular. Their music was some of what helped me through it. Goosebumps. RIP Chester
It’s always confused me that people never thought of the possibility that the guy singing music about suicide and depression might be still dealing with it himself. That’s why link in park is so good. It’s fucking real
I'm fucking crying right now. Even though I haven't listened to Linkin Park in several years, Hybrid Theory was one of the albums that really got me into rock music, and also inspired me to get my first ever guitar, and the sheer gift of music is something I will forever thankful for. Rest in peace man. Without you, nu metal would not be where it is today
The sound of your voice painted on my memories even if you're not with me i'm with you. 6️⃣ years already, Beautiful voice greatly missed. Rock in ☮️ Legend.🤘🏿

She always thought she would be the one to go first , having several suicide attempts behind her. She is so nice and i cherish our friendship❤
@@eternity68 God...I hope she is doing fine now. God bless all!
I'm a new fan, and I agree
Now his songs seems to be more dark and serious, and it brings even more pain, to know that a person who sang that couldn't take his pain so much he committed suicide
Now I'm insecure and suicidal, and scared of anything, that reminds me of my past, even of good things, and scared of suicidal notes. And I used to listen to some Linkin park in childhood, even if I wasn't big fan of it. So...
Now I'm reasonable listen to it, to make myself accept my own suicidal tendencies, and face my *real* feelings, and don't run from it and don't degrade of hidden pain
It hurts af, but I feel how I'm slowly heal. It helped me much better, than "support" of some of my "friends" (but somes actually tried to help, and it really helped), and only therapy by itself
R.i.p. Chester. One can save millions, but millions couldn't save one
Amen to that. His voice is one of a kinda. No man/woman can ever replace that.
NEVER
This mans voice was my childhood, rest in peace Chester you'll be missed forever more.
Even in the end Chester, you matter
Just in the past two years we've lost so much talent and now this. I may not have been a die hard Linkin park fan but this mans music, his voice, his lyrics, have been played in my household since I can remember. Rest In Peace to another greatly talented musician.
That's so true man. So many blows one after another...so many legends....RIP Chester.........
Mclovin agree
Mclovin I have most of them 😭😭😥
Nathaniel Lycan. it was drugs and alcohol that made him do it
John Nieto, it's depression. Get your facts right!
In the end, it did matter Chester. You will forever be missed. a true icon for everyone who listen
Not of your generation....it is the best band of all time❤️
How many people here cried for the loss of chester today?

R.I.P childhood hero

Dude had one hell of a fucking voice. Always respected him regardless of whether or not I liked LP's newer music. R.I.P., your music was a huge part of my youth. All those rainy days on my long bus ride home listening to Hybrid Theory and Meteora on repeat.
His lyrics were deep. They meant a lot to me, when I was a teenager. And his voice, damn! What an incredible voice!
Deep, it's just some EMO band.
Cringe Master No
I wasn't ready for this. I'm sad my daughter who isn't here yet is going to enter a world without him. She won't get to see her old man act like he's 17 again. This is what breaks my heart. We all miss you brother. Thanks for everything
Jacob Jaramillo same boat as you brother

...I do... Chester you are the first icon i ever cried for. Yesterday was the day MY music died. :*( You are my "Elvis". Prayers and love to your family and the guys.
Right on .well said .my all Time idle CB for ever
it's crazy how in his 2017 performance of "Crawling" that you can hear his emotion... of course hindsight is 20/20 but a few points it sounds like he is on the verge of tears... if only people understood how he was feeling, such a wonderful life taken far too early...
I was never a fan of Linkin Park but there is no denying that Chester had powerful vocals and it's unfortunate that he's gone
MarineHulk No one cares if you're a fan or not. This world lost a special voice. For once just get over yourself and simply pass your condolences.

I'm at a loss for words. Why do the best always die young? By far one of the biggest shocks in music history. By far one of the best vocalists the world will ever see. Rest in peace Chester. Aris Koumbanakis ik I can't believe it's real :(
Aris Koumbanakis Chester was truly an amazing vocalist and an amazing person (except for a few bouts) I just don't understand why he would do this I understood that he was hurting but if I was him I would've at least tried to push through just with the knowledge of helping so many other people that were also hurting

Even though i regretted not seeing them perform live. I'm still glad that i live in the same era with Linkin Park.
They didn't need to say anything else apart from Chester singing One More Light. Their collective body language said it all. :(
The scream he lets out during the "I do" part at the end of the performance is, I think, one of the best screams recorded.
We don't care what you believe in, we love every single one of you out there... and nothing will ever change that."

And also the song ' Hunger Strike ' when both these legendary artists shared the stage too..
that was so great i really miss the both of them
People might not like his music, but nobody can deny the fact that Chester was one of the most beautiful people in this world. His ability to love and cherish people, be so charitable and giving is something we can all see and respect. His horrid past of physical and mental abuse made him do this. This is just too sad. He wasn't just a legendary musician, he was a good man who cared deeply about people.

oh hey i watch your videos.
We still need to give them a chance LP is full of talent they can figure it out withlut hurting anyone
Well said
Vocalists are always the hardest to replace because the band sounds obviously different.
