Hi Matt, John Smith here, thanks for posting this video and your excellent work regarding the MG HS. In a nutshell - AMT Automated Manual Transmission mode is an ECU remap built into the Engineering mode screen. It provides better fuel consumption, better throttle response and better Transmission and Engine harmony. Why is it not factory set ? Simple answer - European/UK and other countries stringent EMMISIONS criteria. Works for all MG HS variants including Manual, PHEV and DCT To date personally over 3000+ happy customers world wide ( This is only owners who have personally messaged me) So if you take into account those who don't reply, or simply don't want to let others know they've changed to AMT mode due to contract hire/mobility or warranty fears..... Then you're probably looking at a realistic figure from anywhere between 10 to 50 x more than this ( 3000+) in the world 🌎 at the moment. ( Just Imagine 150,000+ MG HS owners currently running in AMT mode happily) Keep up the good work. * Please do not message me asking about AMT mode entry. ! Google or TH-cam search works wonders. JS 👍
Thanks John the AMT. has made a difference and why its not set as standard is beyond me. Personally it should be a drivers choice as some have said they dont think its made a difference but if its an EU thing you can see why its hidden, thank you for prompting users not to change anything else as we dont want them to damage there system.
@@bmgtz Hello. Emissions section in the new Infotainment system has 5 settings. The factory setting is CN 6 ( China 6), however I personally changed mine to EU 5 , because of it being superb for response and driving experience. Basically with AMT and EU 5 in place my MG HS feels like a very expensive German top of the range Transmission. By the way, Factory settings on the new facelift model currently now being delivered to owner's in the UK with AMT mode set as standard 😊😊😊 ( Information from 50+ new owners ) Also - private messages from over 100+ MG HS owners stating that their MG garages around the world are changing the setting to AMT for them on request. So obviously there's been a cosmic shift in thinking 🤔 from either SAIC or MG to recognise this improvement. As always. Enter and change your engineering settings at your own risk! Safe travels wherever your road may lead 🙏
Changed mine about 3 weeks ago, noticeable difference in the reduction of ‘jumpy’ slow speed starts, seems a lot smoother too, mpg on my relatively short journeys has gone from 26 to 31mpg. My main concern, like others is if this setting would do any damage to the car? Would it cause an MoT fail for emissions? Would it invalidate any warranty? It would be interesting to hear if anyone else has had any issues. Personally, I regret buying this car, there are too many niggles & inconsistencies with it.
Hi Matt, very much appreciate your views comments and research on this vehicle so far. I am loving it. Thank you again keep up the good work. You are a star of the English time😊
Hi mate, I have a 2023 HS auto and I switched to AMT about 3-4 weeks ago through reading the posts on the Facebook group. I've seen a massive improvement in the drive of the car, no lag from the gearbox that was previously there and no more leaving me hanging on busy islands and junctions. I live in the urban West Midlands and the same as you I was getting around 26MPG but now I seem to be getting 28-30MPG. I would love to know what it's actually changing as if it were a gearbox setting then your manual transmission car surely wouldn't work if you are telling the car its now got an auto box. I suspect its more of an emissions setting but why it doesn't come like it from the factory I don't know 🤷♂️. I'm going to leave mine in AMT as I don't think I could bear going back to jerky AT setting!
I've just had a trophy auto 3 weeks and I have a hesitant 1st gear and it changing to second. After that it seems fine. After listening to this I will have a look and see what my seeing is. Ray
@raytaylor1 yes Ray that is an issue I had. It was worse when cold but the change between 1st and 2nd was terrible. After putting it into AMT its much better 👍
Recently bought a 2020 HS excite, with auto gearbox. Had issues with the jumpy gearbox, especially at slow speeds. I have seen a few vids on the AT/AMT mode so willing give it a try, hopefully it works and makes a difference as at the moment, I seriously regret buying an MG.
In the end I got rid of the horrible piece of Chinese junk. While changing the mode did improve the mpg slightly, the gearbox issues didn’t go away, jumping around at slow speeds but the worst was when approaching a junction and slowing down but then when pressing the accelerator to speed up again, the response was so slow, even dangerous at a junction. The constant binging, poor mpg, intermittent issues with the instrument panel and many other things meant I got rid. It cost me probably nearly £4k in depreciation and trade-in value but I absolutely hated the thing. I have now bought a c-hr and love it. Never buy a Chinese car (or a ford).
Hey, first of all great video. My car is a MG HS 73 plate. All the videos on TH-cam on showing how to enter engineer mode have a different screen layout than what my car has and I'm struggling on how to figure it out. My car is an auto I don't know if that makes a difference.
Hi everyone. I have a 2021 MG EHS PHEV, the ATM mode is going to made a big diference comparing the AT mode that come as standard? Thank's a lot and keep up the exelent work!
Great video, made some improvement in my MG HS, but throttle lag from standstill is still there. Would changing country selection from Australia to either Ukraine or West/Chile/Secret make a difference you think ? Also, would drive mode 2 instead of Mode 1 or "No" improve it further ?
On my MG hs excite it would not let me change from Australia to west Chile secret. My car was set to AT. Changed to AMT and standstill to moving forward made a significant noticeable difference. Very happy with change
Maybe it's to do with Emissions? I have a 2023 (Feb 2024 reg) auto trophy and the auto box can be a nightmare when you pull away.I think i'll wait for more comments before i go into the menu and change things.👍
Dont think so as from what has been said by members theres no default as so many have been on different settings mine was on AT and i have a manual so surely that was wrong
Hi i have 2024 mg zs 1.5 cvt andon my option default on AT and i have 4 options AT MT AMT and CVT , my question even i have cvt trans do i choose AMT and mode 1?
Hey. I am using amt mode1 eu-v for about 1k km and it is much better than default settings. I want to ask I heard some people is using cvt mode2 eu-v and claim this is the best settings. Anyone here try those settings?

In some other replies I saw, the posters mentioned emissions were being changed. Are you aware of how to do that ?

Thanks mate, it surely is a strange one and there just is no consistency in what mode cars are set up in, it defo has made an improvement

I've just tried mode 2 and the third option NO . None made a difference fyi on my vehicle. But changing AT to AMT wonderful and no delay.

We have a 2022 Exclusive manual too. Was on MT and switch to AMT, car went on long weekend run, and is smoother and mpg is up, seems livelier
Thank you interesting
Hi Matt, would this change void the warranty?
Dont think so as from what has been said by members theres no default as so many have been on different settings mine was on AT and i have a manual so surely that was wrong
Having looked at my screen I don't seem able to get to an engineering screen through the system. So struggling to find an alternative way forward
Interesting
