Pleasurable experience using the flat brush for the pretty flowers. I gained a better understanding how to use this brush watching your movements around the piece. Thank you Diane!
It's always interesting to watch others use different brushes. I think I need a sword brush now because..... sword, in a brush. LOL. I like trying new things. Thanks for the inspiration.
@@DianeAntoneStudio I am laughing right now!!! I have been watching the BBC series “As Time Goes By” with Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer. Lionel’s father, Rocky Hardcastle’s favorite expression is “rock on! I love that show, brilliant writing and my kind of humor I’m afraid! 😄 Have a lovely day my friend! Thanks for the morning coffee!❤️
Diane, this is absolutely beautiful! I'll have to play around with the flat brushes. I love watching the way your delicate strokes created the most delicate sweet flowers and leaves. It's just gorgeous!
Thank you! This is a very good reminder to use my flat brushes! I usually just use the same group of round brushes without giving it enough thought!! Actually this will work well with the painting that I am currently working on but wouldn’t have thought much about it!!
Hello there, I'm enjoying your tutorials so much. Thank you. Just shared your channel with a lovely lady in Hobby Lobby. I'm sure she will enjoy your work. 🤗
Hello Diane from the US! I really love the airyness of this painting. Until now I had no clue what to do with flat brushes except backgrounds. Of course you make it look so easy. So glad I found you!
You should! Try to track down a Pro Arte Séries 9a in the smallest size, that’s what I have. I could have sword Rosemary’s did them but today I can’t find them. I think Jackson’s might have them.
Would make a lovely Easter card, I have a sordliner I must dig it out and use it,I think we get used to working with the same brushes, I'm working on a hare at the moment a sordliner would be great for some grasses, thank you Diane x
The blue brush is a basic gold sable. Usually a student brush. The angled brush is a folk art brush The hake brush is Japanese. The flats are sometimes called chisel tips. Longer bristle brushes are sometimes used for lettering because they can hold more liquid and paint
Folk art has a number of special purpose made brushes. rakes combs Deerfoot stipplers and angle brushes fan brushes I found most are used in tole painting. Donna Dewberry (sp?) also has techniques that are an off shoot of tole painting
Lovely painting. I like how you demonstrate using the brushes. That is very helpful. I don't see the Rosemary Swordliner brush in your links below. I know you can buy them directly from Rosemary and Co., but their image does not show the handles and they offer a few different types of swordliners. Can you provide a link for this brush. Thank you
In this video I used Clairefontaine Etival but I use Canson XL for sketchbook work, and find it very good, I would use it for videos if I had larger sheets!
I have probably watched 500 of your videos... this is my favorite floral! ❤❤
This is so lovely! Thank you for sharing this with us. Great encouragement for me!
You are so welcome!
So pretty. Reminds me that spring will be here some day!

Well my friend, you have made my flat brushes happy! They have felt neglected for quite a spell! More inspiration from you. Brilliant!xxxx❤️
Also, I treated myself to a butcher’s tray! Lovely working with it! Thank you Diane!❤️
Rock on!

Those poor flat brushes! So neglected!
@@DianeAntoneStudio Haha....you made it up to them by creating this beautiful masterpiece!
Going to try flats again 😮 - btw, Jackson’s has a great article on Potters Pink 1/29/23

Great idea!Yes, it’s easy to get into a rut - I’m also going to dig out my neglected brood!
I never use flat brushes but now I’m curious 🤔

I didn’t know it was for folk art. I have a feeling someone gave it to me and that’s why I’m not familiar with it! I’ll try it out!

Unable to find sketch for this tutorial. Thanks ❣️
I haven’t done it yet, sorry!
No worries. Thanks.
Diane, where can one find the politecnic drawing pen? I am unable to find it on Amazon....
Hi, I’m not sure where to find it, it’s a pencil actually, which holds a fat lead. It might be hard to find, I’ll keep looking.
@@DianeAntoneStudio thank you, my dear ;)
My Dad used a pencil like that for his carpenter work, we called it a carpenter's pencil or a woodworking pencil-classic pencil with a fat lead.
Do you recommend Cranston XL watercolor paper? If so for what purpose?
No she said ETIVAL, that is another paper from Canson. I use the XL sometimes for practicing, I think it is pretty decent for the price.

I had to admit I can't see your sketch so need to wing it it guess! Otherwise I enjoyed trying the flat brushes.
I just put my flats away. Hahaha
Sorry!!!!! ❤️
