I league started this in 1.13 and getting to maps was an absolute breeze. I immediately swapped to CI vortex/cold snap because the damage just wasn't quite where I wanted it for creeping frost. This is an amazing league start though.
I appreciate the information about this build, but as a beginner I don't understand anything you are saying. A lot of experienced players of a certain game have a bad habit of throwing out abbreviations that I don't understand. For example what is SSF friendly? I would like to try out this build. Unfortunately I don't understand half of what your talking about.
Honestly you have by far the best POBs and make things so easy to get into, I have mad respect for your work, you deserve much more than you get currently, you really put in a lot of effort for helping noobs such as myself get into POE because of how good your guide and POBs are

I’m not new but I’m returning after having not played since Breach league and there’s been massive changes. I tried this build the tail end of Ritual and I love it. Everything in the video you said is true.
Reddit tends to speak in absolutes. If something is not the absolute best possible build of any specific section in their mind it means that it is trash. Personally I've done pretty much all the content with Creeping Frost and I just like the ability 👍

Im loving the little visual cover up there is in this build. There are some beautiful effects in this game, but it can be tough to identify mechanics and hazards with effect, auras and skills covering up the ground

This is awesome. I've watched a few other poe streamers but I've only been playing for a few months. Only done white maps. Most of their builds weren't as in depth in path of building. I appreciate it as this makes it lots easier to understand and follow.
First time I tried PoE a few years ago, I went for my own build, an hybrid occultist totem/power charge build... Well no surprise, I got stucked at Act 5 and then dropped the game. Now, I'm following your guide and I'm having a blast for almost a week. The story mode was almost "godmode" and now I'm starting the Atlas and I'm still rolling on the game, not even using half of the build (still need Trigger wands, Equilibrium + curses). Thank you very much for the effort you put on your channel, I couldn't enjoy the game as much without this guide.

Used this build in Ritual League with the intention of making it my league starter. It was super smooth and easy, and I ended up using it the whole league. Did 36/40 challenges with it and cleared all content (Feared, Maven). Highly recommend it.
How was the bossing? Big Ducks keeps saying that the build kills bosses slowly but still Im thinking about using this as my league starter for ultimatum.
@@Raizen20901 End game bossing is a strength of the build, even with low dps numbers. The cold DoT allows you to drop attacks on the boss, and spend your time actively dodging. This makes some bosses really easy, if they teleport and shoot at you while standing in place (Shaper comes to mind). The bosses that run around a lot need more active intervention (Shaper/Elder guardians). The content that was the hardest was tanky enemies that run at you, e.g. Delirium; or time based dps checks, e.g. The Feared/The Hidden, where things get bad if you don't clear in 30 seconds.
Just started playing poe again yesterday after years. I wanted to make an ice damage witch for fun, and stumbled upon creeping frost. I have to say that the second I used the spell, I knew there was something special about it. Now here I am watching a build video to make the absolute best out of it. Thanks!
Last season was the first time I played POE. This was the ascendency I settled on after struggeling with a few other characters. The idea of slowing cold damage, energy shields, and curses jumped out as a strong starter. After being inspired by one of your similar suggestion video's, I jumped into BOP and settled on a similar design. It was excellent, Excellent advice. And it will be my starter this season.
I used this build in ritual. Fun and easy to play for leveling and early maps. But it doesn't scale well and hard caps into red maps and won't work at all for end game. I transitioned to low life Vortex build that worked okay for end game but not OP or anything. As a league starter this is fine, but if you're leveling only one character this probably shouldn't be it.
From the perspective of a newer / less experienced player; This guide was quite informative, but I had no idea what you were talking about when you jumped to cluster jewels and the atlas. Any suggestions for where to find out about that stuff?
You can search it on TH-cam, cluster jewels are drops from "Delerium" which was the league a couple of leagues ago. Pretty sure you can find out about cluster jewels on TH-cam. Same applies for the Atlas. In short the Atlas is divided up into sections each with their own respective Maps occupying that region. Maps range from Tier 1 - 16, where the Monster level increase by 1 level for each Tier higher than the previous.
@@franciscomaia3299 yes you can just run through the Grey cluster of pixels you'll see the map turn foggy. Kill mobs and at the end when the timer runs out you'll see loot drop next to you. With a jewel or two at the end.
I did try this build its trully easy to play. This build especially good against boss, it make them lot easier. I would really say to anyone first time or still not familier with the game to start with this build. However if you get use to the game this build not excel in speed farming(maping), dont get me wrong, its far to be bad, there are just some faster build out there but if its not a factor for you, yuo will really enjoy playing creeping frost. By the way Big Ducks is my favorite poe content creator, he make really good and accessible build for everyone. Continue your good work!!
ive been running this build its great. Sort of starts throttling out around 58ish but soon as you hit 62 and can start equipping the good stuff. your right back to wondering why you play any other spec
@13:12 It is very frustrating to start a build, confident that all 3.14 league changes are taken into account (after all, "3.14" is even in the title). And then find out that key mechanic on the main weapon has been nerfed so that you can no longer get an important trigger mechanic to work....
still toxic rain deadeye is one of the cheapest, strongest, beginner friendly builds out there, can be pushed to crazy dps and like 8k HP if you want, can be used as a starter and if you want u can do all endgame with it later :) I really recommend it
I was playing around with this build. To me it feels like it starts off slow but it does start to scale a little better the farther you go IMHO. You need to be smart with your dodge so if you're used to playing toons with LOTS of EFFECTIVE defensive layers then maybe a build that slows the game down would be better??

@@fireinpoe9317 almost every TR build that advertises that "200m shaper dps" is bullshit POB warrioring. Even BigDucks video on it was called out in the comments for it. You're very rarely if ever going to have any more than 5 overlaps from one cast of TR.
@@icata12345 I had the same problem last league and I was doing magic tier 1 map so I switched to doing base tier 1 map and just ran those for a while until I could run the magic tier maps. Also make sure you have a trigger wand, all the recommended uniques and make sure you flasks up most of the time. Other than that I don't have any other advice for you because I am a noob myself
I played this last league, was a great league starter. Later on switched to CI, got lots of ES recovery, was able to run high level delirious maps... fantastic build.
Went back to my league starter after a time playing an ice shot deadeye and i'm so god damn tanky. Just wanted to say thank you for this build and making my league start so easy.
Correct, there is no best build in general. There are builds that are suited for different kinds of people. Out of the league start guides that I am going to be putting out, this is the best for new players. I even said in that video on the goals section that I'll be giving you information on each of my build guides on what they're suited for.
To all those that hesitate, the builds are top quality, the POB have great details and the whole is smooth and great to use. I'm using one of his builds again this start !

Thank you very much for breaking down the leveling trees in the video. I play on a PS4 and don't have access to a working PC so I couldn't access POB normally. I usually had to resort to apps that only display the final tree and do some guesswork from there.

Vortex is better in almost every single way, its saver, more damage, can be autocast without animation. Creeping frost can shotgun (but vortex still does more damage on a proper build (LL)), and has more "reach" cause its ranged.
I used bigducks' creeping frost build for 3.13 and I just cannot recommend it enough. Almost 0 investment, just a crappy 6 link chest to get me going, the rime gaze, and 2 extremely basic medium clusters and it got me going all the way to tier 16 without an issue, even being able to do some basic bosses, although clear speed is not super stellar. It can be pretty rippy if you dont get a decently solid shield and chaos damage can be an issue, but for the amount of investment put into it its aboslutely nuts how much mileage I got out of this build. I was thinking of changing it up and doing a toxic rain build this league but I just might do this creeping frost build again. Absolutely loved it and fully recommend it to anyone even midly interested in it for aleague starter. It hits a massive wall at a certain point which means super hard bosses or insanely juiced maps are a no go, but by that time you have gotten to tier 16s and you can do almost everything or just switch to a more refinded build after farming for a while. IT'S 100 PER CENT A LEAGUE STARTER, dont expect crazy shit out of it, but if you are looking for a solid ass cheap starter look no further.
how the hell you clear t16 high ultimatums with low investment with this build. thats impossible. even with 20+ex spent on build its still struggling in small layout ultimatums. mostly its a RIP for me and i am decent at the game and got above average build investments

That being said, with the amount of cc and aoe this build puts out i have no idea how ultimatums would be a struggle, rituals were apiece of cake when i used it.
@@spawnscout thing is you dont freeze 100% mobs all the time and when you dont or they are immune and they charge you u kinda dead most of the time. the dmg is just isnt there with dots. i am speaking t15+
@@alexanderjanak4239 might be a creeping frost thing idk. I'm doing posions this league and dps is just fine wiithout even investing 1 exalt total on my build. From what I remember you really need a good spirit shield for the creeping frost build to shine in high tier maps. If you dont cap block and spell block the build is super rippy.
I was able to do most of Ritual league's content using your creeping frost build. My main problem was the bosses I hadn't fought often, and thinking I was more invulnerable than I was.
As a new player i would really like a written guide to go along with this. For example I don't know all the skills of the top of my head and constantly having to go back and forth in the video is a little annoying.
a very easy (and great) damage boost to this type of build is picking a medium cluster with cold conduction, which makes your chills shock the target, giving you 15% free damage
From what you are saying, this build is geniune enjoyable for new players. I will try it tomorrow. I'm still searching for easy beginner friendly builds, never reached more than act 5, so yeah...
With trigger wand craft being nerfed to have an 8 second cd what's the alternative for getting EE to proc without having to just manually cast a random damage skill every single time we want to use creeping frost?

I asked Big Ducks in stream today and he said that the trigger wand nerf shouldn't affect the build. Even with the nerf, Storm Brand stays up pretty much all the time and Elemental Equilibrium still works.
Sounds like a good build to start for me. Not really interested in going for bosses on my first character, I just want to get to level 90 fast and maybe farm a little currency.
I went to the discord to ask people about the nerf and someone told me this : "build is still viable, trigger wand nerf is annoying but nothing to worry about" Also, I suggest you to join the discord, people are really helping there and I get fast answers to my questions almost 24/7. There's a special channel for begginner's and all the updated guides are also there.

@@uwyphi so basic defence and block cap but not a glad....is it really so big the chill to be effective as defence by just running circles?dont get me wrong i like the build but im on a lag potato pc so defences are first concern to me
@@max417481 also sustain wise you can get some ES leech or some ES on block chill is very effective when you get two deep chill nodes in your clusters even with elemental focus, but if you want you can sacrifice a chunk of dps and add hypothermia on the 6link instead and it's like, very frozen you might have freeze spikes on your pc, I switched to vulkan API for that reason, got me killed a few times
For a league start character, I would suggest not waiting until the campaign is over to get skill points. The reason is twofold, whether you play trade or intend to do SSF like me. First, if Ultimatum is like Ritual, it will be worth doing every one of those while leveling the first character of the league because the rewards you can get will often be good rare and unique gear that can carry you far into maps. Skipping skill quests and areas will limit how many you can do, and, like ritual, ultimatum rewards might be more powerful early on and not scale well into the endgame. Secondly, we will have far less choice for rewards in ultimatum than in ritual, unless our characters are geared/specced well enough to push for different/better rewards. Similar to the first point, it seems well worth a bit of extra time to get all the skill points and gear possible which allow you to push for the most and best rewards, do labs more under-leveled, and an easier start to maps/endgame. Like ritual, i expect i will also be able to get good leveling gear for alt characters where leveling speed is really the key.
I think this build will get spanked by the league mechnic when all the mobs spawn on you. I recall this became an issue during more difficult ritual encounters

Do you think Delirium is still going to be better for cluster jewels over Heists? The dev manifesto seems to suggest they want each league mechanic to be the best place for each league item type.
Got it at around tier 9 maps by spamming every jun mission I got, it is kinda frustrating to get if you're unlucky and 3.14 might make things easier or harder or even impossible depending on the changes on unveiling items
Ok, probably a noob question, but is there a reason why we take the shield defense nodes so early? Doesn't that mean you give up using two wands with added cold dmg?
Hey hope someone can help. Is there something that i could use instead of Vaal RF. I either forget to use it or die when i use it. Is there something a little less suicidey that i could replace it with.
I always loved this skill since they redid it and been using it in recent leagues, its great for clearing though i had some problems in maps to keep myself alive, might be the build though. Btw, the manifesto released today said all the exposure effects like the ones Frost Bomb and Wave of Conviction give have been halved, so its quite the nerf. Besides, we don't even know what Harvest crafts are left after the massive nerf they are going to do this league. Also, how do u make a trigger wand? never been able to get one. about PoH, is it still worth getting Glancing Blows? becouse it got nerfed pretty bad last league and am not sure its worth the points getting it.
My Carrion golems are about I get wrecked. Reap MOM Agnostic Reap Hierophant...and work my way towards Pledge of Hands Staff. Or LL life Stacking Blood Thirst Slayer.

I'm playing with the build and I saw some difficulties. I had to subsist Vaal Righteous Fire, since at the time of use it takes away all ES and half of life. The damage is very bad when the enemy cannot receive curses.

Toxic rain mines trickster probably better imo. Auto targeting and with detonate mines on left click you don't break your wrist.

For playing this as my 2nd ever PoE class, it was pretty easy to pick up. Seems much more newbie friendly than some of the other things I've tried.
And trigger wand did get nerfed 4->8s is a quite massive increase in delay.
Were there any nerfs to cluster jewels for this build?

He's not wrong, there's not ONE BEST BUILD, there is best builds for different people and different needs.
Correct, there is no best build in general. There are builds that are suited for different kinds of people. Out of the league start guides that I am going to be putting out, this is the best for new players. I even said in that video on the goals section that I'll be giving you information on each of my build guides on what they're suited for.

Thank you very much for breaking down the leveling trees in the video. I play on a PS4 and don't have access to a working PC so I couldn't access POB normally. I usually had to resort to apps that only display the final tree and do some guesswork from there.

How does creeping frost compare to the vortex variant? What are the core advantages/disadvantages?
Vortex is better in almost every single way, its saver, more damage, can be autocast without animation. Creeping frost can shotgun (but vortex still does more damage on a proper build (LL)), and has more "reach" cause its ranged.

I used bigducks' creeping frost build for 3.13 and I just cannot recommend it enough. Almost 0 investment, just a crappy 6 link chest to get me going, the rime gaze, and 2 extremely basic medium clusters and it got me going all the way to tier 16 without an issue, even being able to do some basic bosses, although clear speed is not super stellar. It can be pretty rippy if you dont get a decently solid shield and chaos damage can be an issue, but for the amount of investment put into it its aboslutely nuts how much mileage I got out of this build. I was thinking of changing it up and doing a toxic rain build this league but I just might do this creeping frost build again. Absolutely loved it and fully recommend it to anyone even midly interested in it for aleague starter. It hits a massive wall at a certain point which means super hard bosses or insanely juiced maps are a no go, but by that time you have gotten to tier 16s and you can do almost everything or just switch to a more refinded build after farming for a while. IT'S 100 PER CENT A LEAGUE STARTER, dont expect crazy shit out of it, but if you are looking for a solid ass cheap starter look no further.

how the hell you clear t16 high ultimatums with low investment with this build. thats impossible. even with 20+ex spent on build its still struggling in small layout ultimatums. mostly its a RIP for me and i am decent at the game and got above average build investments

That being said, with the amount of cc and aoe this build puts out i have no idea how ultimatums would be a struggle, rituals were apiece of cake when i used it.
@@spawnscout thing is you dont freeze 100% mobs all the time and when you dont or they are immune and they charge you u kinda dead most of the time. the dmg is just isnt there with dots. i am speaking t15+
@@alexanderjanak4239 might be a creeping frost thing idk. I'm doing posions this league and dps is just fine wiithout even investing 1 exalt total on my build. From what I remember you really need a good spirit shield for the creeping frost build to shine in high tier maps. If you dont cap block and spell block the build is super rippy.

I was able to do most of Ritual league's content using your creeping frost build. My main problem was the bosses I hadn't fought often, and thinking I was more invulnerable than I was.
I ended up putting void sphere in the wand instead of cold snap. It was very fun watching everybody get pulled into a nice pile on all the cold dots.
As a new player i would really like a written guide to go along with this. For example I don't know all the skills of the top of my head and constantly having to go back and forth in the video is a little annoying.
You should learn to use path of building there is a writen guide for it in the desc.
a very easy (and great) damage boost to this type of build is picking a medium cluster with cold conduction, which makes your chills shock the target, giving you 15% free damage

From what you are saying, this build is geniune enjoyable for new players. I will try it tomorrow. I'm still searching for easy beginner friendly builds, never reached more than act 5, so yeah...
With trigger wand craft being nerfed to have an 8 second cd what's the alternative for getting EE to proc without having to just manually cast a random damage skill every single time we want to use creeping frost?
Vaal Cold Snap is looking juicy after Patch Notes, would be a nice fit for this.

I asked Big Ducks in stream today and he said that the trigger wand nerf shouldn't affect the build. Even with the nerf, Storm Brand stays up pretty much all the time and Elemental Equilibrium still works.

Sounds like a good build to start for me. Not really interested in going for bosses on my first character, I just want to get to level 90 fast and maybe farm a little currency.

Will this build still work decently in late game content if I lean into Energy Shield instead of blocking? Changing to a block setup would require a lot of undos at this point :(

@@max417481 also sustain wise you can get some ES leech or some ES on block
chill is very effective when you get two deep chill nodes in your clusters even with elemental focus, but if you want you can sacrifice a chunk of dps and add hypothermia on the 6link instead and it's like, very frozen
you might have freeze spikes on your pc, I switched to vulkan API for that reason, got me killed a few times

Vortex hextouch might work here, it has the benefit of being instant, though it lacks the range that the brand setup gives.

For a league start character, I would suggest not waiting until the campaign is over to get skill points. The reason is twofold, whether you play trade or intend to do SSF like me. First, if Ultimatum is like Ritual, it will be worth doing every one of those while leveling the first character of the league because the rewards you can get will often be good rare and unique gear that can carry you far into maps. Skipping skill quests and areas will limit how many you can do, and, like ritual, ultimatum rewards might be more powerful early on and not scale well into the endgame.
Secondly, we will have far less choice for rewards in ultimatum than in ritual, unless our characters are geared/specced well enough to push for different/better rewards. Similar to the first point, it seems well worth a bit of extra time to get all the skill points and gear possible which allow you to push for the most and best rewards, do labs more under-leveled, and an easier start to maps/endgame. Like ritual, i expect i will also be able to get good leveling gear for alt characters where leveling speed is really the key.
I think this build will get spanked by the league mechnic when all the mobs spawn on you. I recall this became an issue during more difficult ritual encounters
Occultist slows even sirus for like 60% ultimatum mobs gonna be permafreeze

why wands over scepters for the end game? scepters can add elemental and spell damage. Am I missing something? I feel like I am

Any reason why Snakepit ring is no longer suggested? I played this in Heist and Snakepit is a big improvement in clear speed
As a league starter it's unreliable since snakepit is a guardian only drop so expect it only on day 3 to be afordable

Got it at around tier 9 maps by spamming every jun mission I got, it is kinda frustrating to get if you're unlucky and 3.14 might make things easier or harder or even impossible depending on the changes on unveiling items

Ok, probably a noob question, but is there a reason why we take the shield defense nodes so early? Doesn't that mean you give up using two wands with added cold dmg?
Hey hope someone can help. Is there something that i could use instead of Vaal RF. I either forget to use it or die when i use it. Is there something a little less suicidey that i could replace it with.
I always loved this skill since they redid it and been using it in recent leagues, its great for clearing though i had some problems in maps to keep myself alive, might be the build though.
Btw, the manifesto released today said all the exposure effects like the ones Frost Bomb and Wave of Conviction give have been halved, so its quite the nerf.
Besides, we don't even know what Harvest crafts are left after the massive nerf they are going to do this league.

I'm playing with the build and I saw some difficulties. I had to subsist Vaal Righteous Fire, since at the time of use it takes away all ES and half of life. The damage is very bad when the enemy cannot receive curses.
