Skip Martin & David L Cook win 2023 Emmy for People Get Ready (Legends Unite for St. Jude) Project!

The production showcases the legendary talents of artists such as, Stevie Wonder, Taylor Dayne, Ray Parker Jr. Neal McCoy, Az Yet, Dazz Band, Royal Bayyan, Robert Kool Bell, Maxi B, Reggie Calloway, Kevin Chalfant, Jay Chan, Darcus, John Elefante, Doug E Fresh, Howard Hewett, John P Kee, Stefan Meier, Steph Payne, CeCe Peniston, Tom Schuman, Tony Terry, and Alyson Williams.
The 2023 Emmy Awards brought an exciting surprise for the "People Get Ready" project, also known as "Legends Unite for St. Jude." This composition, a breathtaking musical masterpiece that beautifully captures the depths of human emotion, received the prestigious Emmy Award for Outstanding Musical Composition/Arrangement.
This incredible artistic collaboration, led by the renowned musician Skip Martin, formerly of the legendary band Kool and the Gang, and his talented partner David L. Cook, was honored with this highly coveted award. Their win is a testament to their exceptional musical talent and a tribute to their unwavering dedication to the St. Jude project.
Martin, revamped the old Curtis Mayfield anthem, "People Get Ready" and arranged it in such a way that 29 various legends lent their voices and talents to the project that would benefit St. Jude Children Hospital.
The ceremony, hosted by The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences - Southeast Region, took place on June 17, 2023, in Atlanta, Georgia.
