If even you are passing on the Prime 1 figures then I don’t feel bad for passing on them. I was so hyped when they were announced but I didn’t think they’d cost $5k for 2! I was disappointed for days.

I think one of the biggest issues with those human statues is the drastic difference in detail between the face and the rest of the model. You look and usually everything is so nicely made, your eye goes through little things and then.. a face of almost LEGO level details. The skin is so flat and one dimensional like it doesn’t belong to the rest of the body.
I feel like the only solution to make a statue like that and holding it at that angle, would be to use heavier material for cloud to support it or have the hilt of the sword touch his leg to allow for it to be fully supported through the leg. That would of course need it to ship as one piece though.
Thank you for the honest videos pointing out the shortcomings. I'm also waiting for this cloud and thanks to you i'll be ready. The idea of buying the fire to support the sword and create a diorama is just perfect. I ordered it immediately on aliexpress (i live in the czech republic and can't get it otherwise) and sephiroth is still waiting in the box. Thanks for the warning that the wing is bending and the figure is leaning, I will prepare the supports. Keep it up, your collection is superb and your videos are creative. I thought SE was getting better with their quality problems, but I guess not after seeing what happened with the one you got. Like you said there's no reason a figure that expensive should have pieces not being properly assembled on it and glue spots.
Great video review! I really appreciate as a FF7 fan, you're not looking at these figures through rose-coloured glasses. It's a shame SQEX continuously put out very mediocre figures at relatively high price point. I find the Playarts or Bringarts sculpts are too soft (given how far figure manufacturing has come). Do you own any of the Gametoys 1/6 figures? Or the collection is strictly licensed merch only?
Oh, my glasses do be coloured sometimes. I'm generally just happy to unbox stuff from my favorite games, so more often then not my opinions boil down to: "This looks good, I like it!" Something has to be pretty bad, like this one, for me to make a big stink about it. I'm working on becoming more critical, even for the stuff that I like. I only collect licensed figures from OG & Remake. As cool all the unlicensed stuff is, I just can't get myself to add it to the collection. Don't know why, but it makes me feel "icky"...like adding off brand lego pieces to your lego box.

It is precisely because I felt my favourite game & characters deserve better figures then the mediocre quality sqex put out. It took me a long time to get over the unlicensed stigma but one look at the 1/6 Advent Children Cloud in hand had me convinced it was made with attention to detail to source material. Keen to hear your thoughts if you ever cross the unlicensed path. Keep up the good work!

Dang and I was almost on the fence trying to order it from Japanese web stores which would be about $1600-1700 shipped, which is still really expensive but cheaper than everywhere else. Maybe Prime 1 will figure it out between the year+ release time
Oh, I'd love to. The only thing stopping me is time, and a need to do it right. I currently have 4 unboxing videos just waiting to be done, and by the time I've gotten those out I will have recieved at least 3 more things to make videos on. The collection tour will come as soon as I'm a little bit ahead and during a time when I only have 1-2 things to unbox. I won't give you a time-frame, but I can promise you that I will do a detailed collection tour.
Wow that seam on his hair 😥 Square really needs to do something about their quality control for the static arts or at least their pricing. I recently got one of their meister quality ffxiv statues, and while I love it and thankfully got it heavily discounted - I couldn't imagine my disappointment if I actually had fo pay for its retail price. The quality is just flat out never worth it. The only line I'm completely confident preordering at this point is the adorable arts. (fingers crossed for the shin line) Also had higher hopes for the orange airbrushing, they did it so well on Sephiroth but cant help but feel like it looks like cheezel dust on Cloud with the lack of flames? TT. Your set-up with the fire makes it miles better though, feels like it should've been the standard display!! Also thanks for that small part about the masterline figures. Was never going to order them for those prices but still helped ease my fomo lolol
I would have packaged it back up and sent it back for a full refund, the quality control is terrible especially at the price, yet people keep buying them. Buy a 3D printer and print all the statues you want, will be at higher quality for half the price.
Why on earth is his hand rubber five minutes into unboxing mine the sword already making his hands sag downwards, they at least could’ve included a stand for the sword itself
It's such a shame that they can't seem to quality control their products. Even if I could afford the $2000+ statues I wouldn't buy them because knowing SE's track record, there'd be problems with them too lol
@@wulf8889 I bet you Square Enix is responsible for the pricing of the "SQUARE ENIX Masterline". Every official photo of them have the words "Planning/sales distribution: SQUARE ENIX" on them. And it's easy to miss, but I also show examples of these statues having issues, like bendy swords that need big, ugly supports. Not denying they'll probably look better than the usual SE "Arts" statues though. 🤓
@@corydonclavo I meant those expensive statues aren't made by SE and yes the IP licensing is also equated into the price even those made by SE themselves (different division within Square from where IP came from). Those licensed outside of SE are usually are of better quality like those made by Flare or Prime1. SE only recently changed their approach, especially with face, of their Play Arts with their Shin line. They're that behind.

Yeah, as bad as the prices are, I think the lack of quality control is my biggest gripe.
