That was the best thing to happen to them - turns out whatever the Dugout calls itself repeatedly violated COVID restrictions. Wouldve ruined the reputations of the bartenders if they hadn't quit and left Ed to rot.

@@lukerosales5879 I'll be on my vacation this coming springtime 2022. I'll be visiting Chi-town, but don't think for a split second that I will stop by the Dugout/Press Box for no drink, not even for a glass of water. I wouldn't go there if it was the last known "watering hole" on the face of the earth. While Ed Cressy may eventually change his ways in the foreseeable future, I don't trust that his practices will. He's a disgrace to the bar industry, second only to the Ovemeyers.

Worked for a guy that never worked in the industry before, never in food or sales but opened up a bar. It's doing well because we are in a college town and campus is a few blocks away but honestly, the staff is just a revolving door. It got to the point one time where I didn't even bother learning anyone's names because of how often they just stopped showing up or we got a new hire.

@@TheAnimeAtheist I feel like a lot of owners think it’s somehow personal when this is brought up even though it isn’t, but your employees will never have the same stake in your company as you do. They’re just employees. They are not and will never be obligated to care about your business in the same way that you are. They still have certain expectations they have to meet, but they aren’t ultimately responsible for making sure that the business manages to survive and profit as best as possible. Nobody here is claiming that running a business is somehow easy, but it is ultimately the job of the owner to carry a majority of the burden that they asked for

People in the comments calling him a simp or saying he's stuck in the friendzone aren't understanding it seems Brandon left because he felt like the owners were throwing him under the bus too. He thought the situation with Jessica was handled poorly and already stated he had worked on and off at this place for four years so it wouldn't be the first time he's left. unfortunately the rough start for a lot of businesses dealing with customer interactions has these teething issues. You gotta be mean and get right into it if you have a fresh staff, and those who make it based on their ability to adapt and their training will have some good solid skills for their future employments in the industry. Those who don't typically are not really good for a chaotic industry hub rush.
While I admit, they like to force a really heavy situation in on the owners, managers, and new employees, it often helps show WHERE the problems are and who the problems are. It's sometimes just one or two major issues that cause the entire system to come to a crash.

That bar where everyone quit or was fired. As a manager what I would have done is shut down the business for a couple days. Put up an advertisement on indeed, do something to pull in new hires. Train them right away ON THE TASK THEY NEED TO DO. What I saw with that bar was that they had one person doing three jobs. I worked in fast food for over 4 years and that's not what you do. One person needs to have their own task and if they need to do another test, make them do it for 5-10 minutes and then go back to their original task. That's how the service industry needs to be structured by a manager, in order for everything to run smooth and everything to be set up for success. Don't make a cashier go in the back and cook, don't make a bartender also have to be a server.

Update to this Bar Rescue compilation- Lee from the Fogline is now in prison on drug and drug smuggling charges from the US Dept. Of Justice- he is serving 10 years.
Ed Cressy from the Press Box/Dugout was in the news for having his bar operate beyond established closing times near Wrigleyville in Chicago during the COVID pandemic.
The authorities were investigating fining his business taking legal action against him and others who were operating the bar at the time.
On a personal note- I know what it is like to heavily clean a business off the clock and to get nothing to show for it. Especially when it is not your fault and you didn't start it in the first place. In the episode "How To Train Your Goldfish"- Brandon quit because of the fact of what happened with his co-workers but the key element that stuck out for me- was when he mentioned that he spent all night cleaning off the clock for the owners when their responsible for the mess they have made. I know what that is like- because I have done it at my former work without so much as a thank you or any recognition when I was off the clock doing it for my former employer.
So did the owners take a step forward- in some sense for the other two employees being fired- Yes. But for putting Brandon in this position for what he went though- NO. They took a step backward by losing a good employee that would have stayed.

Every time I see these shows the bar is failing but the bartenders always have nice new cars, stealing from the owners giving away drinks gives them all that under the table tip money.
