Love your blog! Keep up the good work. I am a Vegas local, I play 2-5. I am getting a job there at the HardRock casino and unfortunately I will not be able to play poker there since I will be an employee. I am not familiar with Florida and that area. Is there other casinos near by that have good live poker?
It's tough to run bad like that, but love the vlog and how you handle it. The only thing I disagree with is when you said you lost the minimum on the aces vs kings hand... you had a pretty good read putting him on aces, so I think you could have folded the flop for sure, if not pre-flop! One other thought: even at 5-10, many players just don't realize that folding out of turn (or even open mucking in turn to no bet) can have a pretty significant effect on the remaining players/hand. I am glad you asked for the floor so he'll learn.
The aces vs kings was rough... sucks to get a good hand like that, when someone has a better one. You had a good read, could have folded on the flop, when he raised.
Great to see you tip the dealer so well on the suck out. Really nice of you to do. On the KK hand, if you have the dead read he has AA (and maybe the one remaining combo of KK) and you’re only calling to set mine, you probably need the discipline to fold to the flop bet. Thanks for the great content as always.
As someone who has studied for years but could never get a proper bankroll going due to poor budgeting and life management, I feel like this video was made for people like myself. I'm also a former dealer who used to tip generously before bills came into my world, so I loved the $300 tip at the end!
The AcKc hand maybe could go for max value on the turn by checking? Because if you put button on a set, big blind still in the hand, he could had a hand may want to call button’s bet without knowing what’s your action then you put all the money in?
Agreed. then it negates the running it twice if BB calls which allows him to win the whole pot instead of checking. Totally agree man no need to lead whatsoever there.
He’s one of the best poker players and vloggers. I was waiting for the joke to come in 😆 Also, mad love for you tipping the dealer over $300.00. More poker players need to tip dealers especially during these tough times. Less people is less tips for them due to the pandemic.
Lol, okay one more...also if they misdeal a hand or burn & turn a card early that costs you the hand, don't worry cause they'll talk to management and totally reimburse you or maybe give you a coupon for a free reload.....right???
@@easymoney7007 regardless players cant make any money without dealers so whatever negative shit ur holding on to is kind of unecessary lol tipping is important
Hey Lex, LOVE your vlogs! One thing to realize, is you don't HAVE to run it twice every time, it's always YOUR option. Barry Greenstein is BIG proponent of running it once. Some people vary it depending on if they are having a LOSING session. The extra run out gives each person considerably more outs to make their hand. You had already locked up your NUT flush. He was the one needing to draw to outs to a chop. When you're down 2K in buy ins and it would get you back to even, the first run out would've bailed you out. Just something to consider. I know everyone likes being a nice guy, myself included. But occasionally, as a professional (in it for the money) you have to put your business first. If you're running well on variance and having a good session, no big deal. But, if you've been running on negative variance and are struggling with tilt issues, sometimes it's best to stay grounded for business sake. Thanks for all of your effort. It's nice to follow your journey and trials.
Awesome fold on KK vs AA. Really lost the minimum there. A lot of ppl just all in pre after the 4bet but you're right the min click 4bet is def AA QQ would call or shove themself.
As an aspiring poker pro I want to thank you for making this vlog. Your willingness to not only share your experiences, but also you experience is generous Lex. I hope to meet you soon. And best of luck on the felt my poker brother from another mother.
Great Vlog! The run it once or twice is an interesting argument. Bart Hansen says it doesn't change variance? Would love a math guy to explain it in layman's terms someday.
You obv started underrolled @ 1/2 because you had the job to back you up if you busted your $500 rolls. But once you were full time, how many buyins did you need to feel comfortable moving up to the next stakes permanently? i.e. 30 buyins (15k) for 2-5, or?
I can relate man , I was just in Vegas for seven days, Played 1/3 2/5 at the Bellagio no matter how good you play sometimes does opponent (the villain) have better luck than skills, for example on the 2/5 i’m on the button, I have AA I raise to $125 you have 1-2 players calling, they get lucky on the flop and hit there two pair. It sucks to on the losing receiving end......
Great video Lex. I love your fold with the King's. That's a great player move there, probably only 1% of players can make that fold. I actually saw you the other day and said hi, I was grinding 1/2 and made $1,200 in 4 hours and was telling you I was using your tips for playing hands. Also it was a #crazyaction table too.
Hi Lex - thanks for the great videos...I’m in a rough downswing for the last 3 months and recently moved down to 1/2, which is a blow to the ego, confidence, etc. what dollar amount for bankroll you think I can go back to 2/5?
Hi lex, rn im a student and just start out like u did. And the only game around me are 1/3 or 2/5 so how much do u think is a good bankroll to start with ? And u have any tips, because before i was winning some losing some at live poker, but i never know when to leave the table and go home when i'm up and just end up getting stuck
Nice video, showing the harder side of poker. One thing about the KK vs AA hand - if you are positive that opponent has AA and you still call in order to stack him if a K comes on the flop and it doesn't, why do you still call that bet? Yes, you have an over pair, yes he could have also KK but there are more AA out there then KK left. So you waste that last calling money, in my opinion.
Another great video ; Questioned, how come you ran the Ace King Suited Twice after you flopped the nuts? Was it out of respect to the other player? Or did you feel confident in winning both
I'm a newer player who started with no bankroll and I'm stuck in 1/2 land. My friend is even newer than me but it seems he has so much less patience and he's going to go broke playing this game. 😢
Great vlog as always! Respect for the tip to the dealer as well. You are a great guy and a great poker player! Keep up the great content, nice to see that sub count 🚀🚀
LEX.O. Talk briefly about "bakroll management". Oversimpification: bankroll should be from 50 to 100 to buy-ins for a "pro"? That means a $5-$10 player should have a minimum of (50x $10x 100bb =) $50k to $100k bankroll?? Good luck. Thanks.
great joke loved it...one of more favorite vloggers. tbh...this has happened to tons of players. bet that tip made the dealers day. puts up with all those weirdos everyday.
It's confidence that lets you vlog, and not worry that much about your 'Range', and any tells in variance. You will attract more headhunters in your normal stomping grounds; even with that variance, too :) So, with that 'tell' any vlogger can expect a bit more 'tilt' at the higher blinds-it's inevitable, and part of the grind. Even so, playing the odds and managing the 'variance hands' wins as surely as the 'House' wins...good show! :) How many local vloggers do you watch, routinely, for Range?
On the AK hand that you gave up on the flop, why didn't the seat7 says thank you and take it? The only hand that you could have and seat7 will run in trouble with is JJ. You would have bet the flop with AA, KK, QQ hands. He could easily push you out on all the other hands.
did you ever cover your losses from when you went broke? say you were down $3000 total...did you make back that $3000 in low stakes and now you're up big? or did you replenish that money by working a job? thanks
WHY would u agree to run it twice at 16:19 ?!? U have the nut flush AK.. maybe I dont comprehend the game of "running it more then once" when u have the nuts... I guess the guy could hit a boat but is it worth running it to risk chopping?
