Montgomery was sent by EIsenhower to hold the line at the bulge when Bradley was paralyzed and unable to issue orders. Montgomery got along very well with the Americans and praised their soldiers. The American generals resented Montgomery because he was by far the most successful general on the allied side. He beat Rommel in Africa. He led the invasion of France at Normandy and succeeded in reaching the Seine two days ahead of sch file
@LMFNinja a bit more complicated than that. Britain at first were only engaging Italians in North Africa. The Germans jumped in to help the hapless Italians. Rommel was a military genius who outwitted many British Generals. Monty had the luxury of a defense line that could not be outflanked which enhanced his strength of planning set piece battles. Germans at that time had been suffering from lack of support both in supplies and military personnel. They bled themselves at El Aliemen. Monty did not immediately follow up this victory because he had not been able to set piece plan. Patton revitalized the US troops who were defeated at Kasserine Pass. He also beat Monty into Mecina even though he had to travel a greater distance and had fewer of the allied supplies assigned to him.
M113 American Made Armored Track Vehicles used by the British. I don't think so. Never used By British and weren't available in WW II. Not in service until late 50's and used widely in Vietnam era and still in use today.
Silly boy. British Empire troops not only beat Rommel at El Alamein, but smashed him and his Africa Corps out of ALL of Africa. The British army at it’s best.
Sour grapes. What a mean-spirited and stupid comment. It was the Australians who wrecked Rommel in the Desert and gave the Allies the first win in battle with Japan at Milne Bay, New Guinea. And all that after ensuring WWI went to the Allies because of Monash's genius in the field.
@@lauriemayne7436 It was actually the New Zealanders and the Maori BN that Rommel had the hardest time with. Now any other nationalist commenter from some other country want to say how it was their country that beat Rommel and won WW2? The Canadians probably the finest soldiers over the past 100 years are the only ones who never brag about how good they are in combat regards social media comment sections.. The Americans. British, Aussies and Kiwis civilians all like to claim how bad arse they are.
Sad the existing state of this film is so poor. Unpreserved. Was this the best exemplar available? This fine movie deserved far better.
Well stated remark.
Too bad it was not preserved,
Quality not good . .
Look at that...Italian weapons fire more than once before being dropped in retreat.
my grandfather participated in this war it the real action.
The italians have a sportive sence of the war. Their began and finish the batle singing and acting.
Monty was our best its a shame he is not remembered as such. its still a crappy film though.

Nonsense.
I seem to remember Patton being sent to Africa to secure that front. Which he did.
@@JackSmith-jj3bi Wrong!!Patton came after Montgomery. The Brits and Commonwealth soldiers won the battle for North Africa.
Can he scare the world like Rommel in 2025 as he is imortal and has a following worldwide !
GET READY 4 IT..
I'M IN AUSTRALIA..

Gotta cover the capture of a million Italian soldiers with some propaganda film.
First comment, 3rd like and 6th minute ❤
😂
@crickkett7510 What's funny?
Italian movie again😤
So why did you watch then !!!
I must add, My father and fellow officers seconded from Patton to Montgomery around the Battle of the Bulge had lost ALL respect for Monty. FACT.
Dated film, probably better appreciated at the time of release. Judged by today's standards, obvious low budget, poorly scripted and poorly directed.

Poor acting matched by amateur Video plus a Load of Rubbish, deserved dumping
Monty didn’t beat Rommel at El Alamein, the 900 American tanks he got . And Rommel lack of fuel and 400 German tanks. All worn out and battle damaged.
