Most of them were class B movies or foreign made. None were blockbuster films. The Battle at Lake Changjin is a Chinese movie about the Chosin Reservoir.
Arthur Franz, actor, (February 29, 1920 - June 17, 2006) During World War II, Franz served as a B-24 Liberator navigator in the United States Army Air Forces. He was shot down over Romania and incarcerated in a POW camp, from which he later escaped.
"Phew! That was close... good thing I ducked! Let me stand up again and see if they can hit me this time." :D Not to mention "Oh! My pistol is unloaded. Do you mind if I rack the slide with the barrel right on your foot?"
"Do you realize the fluoridation [of water] is the most monstrously conceived and dangerous Communist plot we've ever had to face?" What a masterpiece of a movie.
Laughing at all the prototype first helicopters and how silly they looked you gotta give credit to the 4 rotor one. It looks remarkably similar to modern drones. 28:23
This was the B-movie knock-off, released the same year. Recognize any other names in the cast? Nope, although I sorta recognized a couple of faceless-faces...
42:36 Trivia Question: what Korean war period aircraft had a split front windscreen like this? I don't know the answer, and am willing to award 1,000 Trivia Points to the one who does.
The war in Kprea was a silly one f you ask me and so many people died and what for only half of korea. Still not changed has it stupi north Korea still around. Nice Helicopters back then today even better amazing
'Now why don't you take it easy Group Captain er, General..and please make me a drink of grain alcohol and rainwater and Mandrake er, General and do you remember wha' tha' frog, Clemenceau said about our beloved general Buck Turgidson'?
Looks like southern California. Say fellas, what's the big idea? I thought we was fightin' Commies. Oh....wait a sec. Now it does make sense....in 2024! Kick the Socialist WOKE's asses Sterling Hayden, er, Captain Edwards....sir.
Wouldn't worry too much about that. Korea was occupied NY Japan during WWII and I'm positive there was a lot of surplus left there. As an example of that when I was stationed at K8 '75-'76 the ROKAF were flying F-86s and the ground troops were carrying Bars and using Quad .50s for perimeter defence. Dont know about you but even today I'd not want to face either of those.
Thanks, I really enjoy these old movies.
Me, too. Welcome.
This is like watching a great history book from cover to cover. Thank you for sharing.

Im going to take a WAG and say there were no F-51C/D models used in Korea. Please correct me if Im wrong.
I meant C/B models. D is a result of a fat finger.

He was pretty much a seal before there was such a thing.
Could he balance a beach ball on his nose?
Thanks for the visit!
The P-51 at 10:00 onwards looked like a P-51B... I didn't thought that any of those got to Korea...
Thanks for the visit!
Who can forget William Holden and Mickey Rooney dying in the other Korean movie in their chopper rescue unit!, small world.
Yes,I was traumatised by that as a child
The movie you are referring to is The Bridges at TOKO-RI . Great Movie Grace Kelly also starred in it.
This was the B-movie knock-off, released the same year. Recognize any other names in the cast? Nope, although I sorta recognized a couple of faceless-faces...
I believe Walter Pigeon was the Admiral in it. But, it's been a long time.@@stevesmodelbuilds5473
Thanks for clocking in with this. Welcome.
I guess when this was made people were entertained just with big doses of stock footage
Good point. Thanks for the visit!

Stupid movie they are getting shot at next to the helicopter and they are just sitting there like nothing.

WW II Japanese firing at Korean war troops over California...
Wouldn't worry too much about that. Korea was occupied NY Japan during WWII and I'm positive there was a lot of surplus left there.
