I *LOVE* the original version of this!! I live in the mountains of Western New Mexico, so we have a lot of older Latino/Mexican families here, and I know several girls in their age group that act just like them, although they speak more in English here. First off, the pronunciation is more like 'malen-KEE-sta', but whatever is comfortable for you.😄 One thing I've learned about Latina girls/women, when they start shaking that finger at you (5:23), you better watch the other hand, because it's looking for something to throw at you, like a chancla, or a plate, or whatever is close. Whatever it is, it's gonna hurt!!😂 That said, this is one of the few Spanish songs I've taken the time to figure out, and I always try to sing along with it (at least on the chorus).😉 The other one is Que mas Quieres, and only because I'm addicted to the music video!!🤣👍👍 How can you not love these girls?🥰🎵🎶
It's pronounced mah-leen-CHEES-tah. The term comes from Malintzin or "La Malinche" (Mah-LEEN-cheh) a princess who became a slave and was "gifted" to Hernán Cortés by the mayan lord of Potonchán (Southeastern Mexico). La Malinche would become instrumental in the conquest of Mexico since she spoke mayan and náhuatl (the language of the aztecs and other mexican nations) and learnt Spanish pretty fast. Therefore she became the official translator of Cortés. That's why "malinchista" has that connotation of being a traitor to your own culture or people. Quite unfair if you ask me, for she was a slave. I mean, it's not like she had many options. She had a son with Cortés: Martín Cortés, one of the first modern mexicans (product of the clash between the old and new world).

I sincerely hope she gets the rest she needs to heal. Selfishly, i want new The Warning music for years and years and years and years and...

As I understand it, a malinchista is a traitor to their people / heritage. Ironic since Dany proclaims loudly and proudly at every show “We are three sisters from Monterrey, Mexico” (often followed by) “who love to rock just like you do”. They are wonderful ambassadors for Mexico.
Only a few ones keeps treating them like that. People influenced by ethnonationalist leaders here, or who rejects english due certain US "políticians" who every day have something racist, xenophobic or negative to say about Mexico and the mexicans. The true is the vast majority who knows them in Mexico, LOVES THEM. The problem is that they remain relatively unknown for most, since rock is no longer mainstream neither in Mexico nor in the states. But little by little the girls are changing that. Of course, it'd help them to be better known in Mexico and Latin America (we can include Spain) if they sung in Spanish. But these girls are aiming to be known on a global scale, not only among the 600 millions who speaks Spanish. Many of whom currently are too busy listening to reggaetón, trap and corridos tumbados.
Recommed atipical fest , especially sinister smiles or queen of the murder scene. All of them shows such a passion, actually l never see Ale moving all over the stage. Thanks Ashlena
Considering Monterrey is 151 miles from the US border it’s not really surprising that DPA grew up knowledgeable about US culture and are bilingual. Also consider that English is the most spoken language in the world and Spanish is 4th I’d say they have their bases and most of the world covered. If your goal is to be one of the biggest bands and tour the world why wouldn’t you write and sing your songs primarily in the most common language. I mean that’s business 101. I think by now TW have pretty much silenced those that dared to call them malinchista.
To be fair I agree with you but they didn't start singing in English for business reason, that is one of the arguments of the haters, that they are doing so purely for business. Their parents listen to a lot of music in English, the songs in the RockBand video game were in english and their school taught most classes in English, so they were comfortable writing in english. Recently they have also said that Spanish is a hard language to use in songs because of the accent (FOR example papa vs papá, the first has the emphasis on the first sylabel, the second the emphasis on the last, the first one means potato and the second one means father) conjugations and many other rules of the Spanish language. Yes, it make sense to write songs in English if you want to reach a global audience, how many people in the US and other non-Spanish countries even heard of Soda Stereo (Best-selling Argentinian band). Also many bands/artist wait until the have their native audience and then try to break into the english market only for the attempt to feel force and non-genuine. The Warning has grown organically and only with an encouraging push from their Label partners. Plus they have been able to make the best of their luck (Opportunity meeting preparation).
To be fair much more important than the proximity to US border Is the fact that they attended a bilingual School. My nephew and niece attended one of them in El Bajío (Central Mexico) and they speak english every bit as good as DPA. In fact my niece got at a scholarship to NYU, which would be impossible without a perfect command of english. You'll find these bilingual schools everywhere in the country. Mainly in big industrial cities, rarely in small ones (unless the economy of the city depends on tourism) and almost never in small communities.

@@morthnadic1 There are several good books written about her, but perhaps that'd be too much. However in case you are really interested about digging more on the subject, I'd recommend you to read "La Malinche in Mexican Literature: From History to Myth" by Sandra Messinger Cypess.

This is one of my favourite songs from the sisters, even though I don't understand a word of Spanish. They will fight metaphorical fire with fire when critics come for them, I love that feisty spirit😄
It took me way too long to realise that this song wasn't on any album, I think I was 3-4 months into being a fan and I had all their albums on heavy rotation and was also watching plenty of live stuff on TH-cam and watching reactions too. Then one day I saw someone was reacting to it and I thought "I don't remember hearing this song recently, what album is it on"? So I went to Spotify and searched the tracklist of all their albums and noticed that it was not there.
The BEST version of this song is when Pau’s drum teacher took over and she got to unleash the front woman energy. th-cam.com/video/fhVeToCXX_4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=r6aoZgzNMUrnSsiJ
Ottima video! 👌
Nice you picked this version which show their slap back on the Mexicans. I think the Mexicans have forgiven them since. They should make a compilation with live versions of their songs. Keep up the good work.
a classic EFF- U to their detractors..and i hope those who tried to pull them down understand they were WRONG! their school was bilingual, spanish and english, their parents filled their home with classic rock,,they wanted to "cover" those songs so english is default!
Totally late to the party here (was on the road) but "malinchista" refers to the young (teenaged!) Nahuatl woman later called "La Malinche" who was sold to Cortés as a translator, and in that role helped Cortés and his Nahuatl allies defeat the Aztecs (this worked out badly for the Nahuatl too in the long run). La Malinche later had a child by Cortés and ended up marrying one of his lieutenants and disappearing from the historical record. Over the years her reputation has varied over the years - was she really a traitor or was she unwillingly thrust into the role? The historical debate continues, but the term endures as negative. It is a uniquely Mexican insult, and you can see easily how the ladies would have been absolutely enraged by it being used on them. Another thing is I really think "Condenada" in the colloquial context would be more like "Damned" then "Condemned" - as in "go ahead, call me a damn narcissist ... !" Anyway, huge middle finger to the haters here, not unlike "Six Feet Under" :D
Part of the challenge translating is matching tone, especially with words that have multiple meanings. Best to go strong with Narcisista! Another challenge is that Spanish usually omits pronouns. "You" plural and "they" use the same verb forms, so we have to consider context. In Narcisista, we have "you" singular commands like "no creas," and "you" plural commands like "aléjense" and "déjenme." We have lyrics directed at detractors, requiring "you," lyrics directed at the audience where detractors are "they," and some that could go either way. I give "you" the benefit of the doubt: You say I need to be prayed for. So concerned, but I don't see you praying that much. It's not for much. Cut the judgment already. Get away from me. Please! Criticize me a little more. I find myself entertained, listening to all you say, to all your badmouthing. Let me laugh a little more. Because you, you know nothing. You run your mouth and don't shut up. I cover my ears and simply say, Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na Let me deny the list. I'm not crazy or a malinchista. Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na You say I'm an egotist, a damned narcissist. I don't know what to do at this point. I don't see the point in pretending. I won't try anymore because now I know That behind the curtains they continue to talk! Their good intentions are always a bit too much. Don't think you're fooling me with that disguise! Because you, you know nothing. You run your mouth and don't shut up. I cover my ears and simply say Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na Let me deny the list. I'm not crazy or a malinchista. Ale is 14 and playing her 4 string Spector gifted to her by Thomas Illgen. Dany is playing her custom Rick Toone Spearfish "Moby Dick" guitar. She also uses a matte black Manson guitar in this concert.
This whole concert is worth the watch even though it is the same set list as Lunario. The audio / visuals, lighting, and camera work are better. The performance of "Black Holes" is the best along side the Pepsi Center. Also, there is a drum cam on Pau for "Dust to Dust" , the first song of the concert, like there was for "Hell You Call A Dream" at the Pepsi Center concert.
You missed Pau pointing at the lyrics on ‘no sabes nada (you know nothing)’.
Ahhh that’s cool
❤ the trifecta , , , "don't say i didn't warn you Wednesday"
I like that 😂
Look at the faces in the audience at the end of the song. Some got it and loved it, but some of them looked shocked to me. The criticisms will never be silenced, but they became more of a whisper after this performance. Great reaction, thank you. ❤✌🤘⚡🔥
Thanks for watching :)
Same here! I am 90% confident in sining Que MAs Quieres 😂
You can feel the emotional release of them playing this live for the first time. Very Pau'erful! ⚡⚡⚡🤘🤘🤘
My fav version of this song 🤘⚡️🤘

And of course, neither Dani, Pau nor Ale are "malinchistas". They are among the best ambassadors of Mexico rigth now, and for many years more to come. They make (most) us mexicans proud.
¡Vivan las hermosas hermanas Villarreal, orgullo y talento mexicano!

Thanks for the explanation!
Dany is my hero! Her back went out recently and yet she still preformed the whole set, you can tell she was in severe pain, playing her guitar and singing while seated in a chair and gingerly moving around stage. there are fan videos of the show from Muenster Germany. I sincerely hope she gets the rest she needs to heal. Selfishly, i want new The Warning music for years and years and years and years and...
She seemed to have recovered in her last performance thankfully
IMO their best performance of this song. 🤘🤘
Love going back to look at first time they play a new song. The Warning TH-cam channel"s Tour After movies are great. The shirts are Fire I'm sure you will be rocking it in Pomona
There are 20 vinyl copies of Narcisista out in the world. They are all one take direct to vinyl takes that were dedicated to the person that paid for it.
No wayyyyyyyyyyy
@ashlenamusic I happen to have number 13.😁😁
The ultimate version......
Hello Ash! This is my favorite version of this song! cheers!
Xx same!
This song is fire.
I like when Danny say at the end. "Thank you, what do you think about (the song)" and all are thinking this is absolutely epic.
Hahaha exactly
Epic. This entire show is GOLD. This era, with Dany on that white Rick Toone Spearfish. ❤. The tone is magical.
Soooo much attitude in this performance. Awesome!
Your spanish is very nice. ❤
Awww thanks I try!
The Warning is the best 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Pau just kills this performance! Love the gestures with her hand while she’s still playing, insane! She REALLY wanted to get her point made!
Great reaction, Ash!
PS I need to go on strike 😂“unpaid assistant” ugh
😂😂😂
Truth!!!
I've seen this performance a few times but I never knew that it was the first time they played it.
Yup!!
You can tell how great a band is when they sing in another language and the song is still epic to you
Totally agree
I know Sleep Token very well Ashlena, the singer is great and II (the drummer) is a beast!
Right???? 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
What I love about their earlier stuff is it employed less tracks and effects. The rawness of this performance is what makes it so awesome.
The Warning DPA ❤️❤️❤️
Loved it! 🔥
Thanks 🔥
Hey Ashlena, this is the concert I told you about awhile back. Check out Dust to Dust from this concert.
thanks for sharing ash ... as per patreon ... namaste and r0ck 0n ... twa ... \m/
🥰🥰
Recommed atipical fest , especially sinister smiles or queen of the murder scene. All of them shows such a passion, actually l never see Ale moving all over the stage. Thanks Ashlena
I think there have been multiple channels that did The Warning Wednesdays.
Love that!
I could see this song being on a live album
100% and it better be a vinyl 😂
♥♥♥TW
There is another performance of this song live with ArJay Hale, Lzzys brother filling in on drums. Check that out
YES! MuSIK! I love J&J. You and them are definitely in my list of top 5 reactors (even though I just realized a few weeks ago that I had never subbed to you :( ) TBH I honestly can't think of anyone that tops your two channels. There are some reactors that are fairly recently diving in who are fun to track but... anyway.... It's awesome that you guys will be together in Pomona! Looking forward to that livestream/podcast/video - however you do it - either way I'll watch the recording on TH-cam LOL! I went back throu your journey and theirs and it was just as fun the second time around 😀
Aww Chaz!!! Thank you for making our night after a total sh*t show in our video comments today ;-/. Warning Wednesday wouldn't be the same without you!! ❤🥷🏻
Awww thanks so much!!!! And thanks for subbing xx
@musikbyjh I love love haha
@@musikbyjh 🥰 Yeah I made a fairly generic comment so as not to stir up an asshole storm - also posted a link to the new PRS that Kanami is getting. PRS posted a TH-cam video of her new Private Stock they made for her. Gorgeous!
Great video Ashlena! The story behind the word Malinchista is fascinating. The entire start to finish Foro-DiDi concert is on their TH-cam. It was 7 months before the 1st time I saw them perform LIVE at The Whisky a Go-Go in Hollywood, California January 16th, 2020.
🗣 See you in Pomona!

Thanks@@mexicanopolis9390.! I did a thorough research of La Malinche after Narcisista came out 5 years ago. Fascinating story. I'll edit my comment.
👋☺️
@@morthnadic1 There are several good books written about her, but perhaps that'd be too much.
However in case you are really interested about digging more on the subject, I'd recommend you to read "La Malinche in Mexican Literature: From History to Myth" by Sandra Messinger Cypess.
Awesome @@mexicanopolis9390 ! Yeah... I just read the Wikipedia and a few other articles. I will check out the book.
🗣 Thanks!
👋☺️
See you there!!!!
Pau: I'm going to call out those of you who are complaining in Spanish so you don't miss it. Since you're not too bright, I'm also going to put the words up while I sing it.
Total epic troll! And ya know what? They are still trolling the haters gloriously!!
Lmao I love that so much
This song is my favorite of their native language songs. Martirio is a close second. But this one is very interactive with the audience.
I have to say Que Mas Quieres is my fave xx I just find myself listening to it non stop
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
⚡ ⚠️ ⚡ ⚠️ ⚡
🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥
When I saw/listened to this way back when and I saw Pau put down her stick and start waving her hand and fingers I KNEW she was pissed. Don't have to know the lingo to know THAT!
😂😂😂
🤘❤️🤘
This is one of my favourite songs from the sisters, even though I don't understand a word of Spanish. They will fight metaphorical fire with fire when critics come for them, I love that feisty spirit😄
Narcisista will be on the release of "The Best Of The Warning". It will be a 4 CD/Album release. Why? Because every song is great.
Na na nananananana, na na nanananana!
Hahahaha
llegue primerooo jajajajja Hola Ash, tengo el video de polonia por si lo quieres ;)
Hahaha xx I already have it but thank you xx
⚡️🤘😎
The whole Foro Didi concert is the bomb. Wait do people still say that 😂
Lmao I haven’t heard that in a long time but yeah we can bring it back 😂😂
It took me way too long to realise that this song wasn't on any album, I think I was 3-4 months into being a fan and I had all their albums on heavy rotation and was also watching plenty of live stuff on TH-cam and watching reactions too. Then one day I saw someone was reacting to it and I thought "I don't remember hearing this song recently, what album is it on"? So I went to Spotify and searched the tracklist of all their albums and noticed that it was not there.
Crazy right?? It was a couple songs in when I first heard about them and found out this song wasn’t on an album which is crazy!
I don't know if this link will go through, but here's the full show at Foro Didi!😉 th-cam.com/video/yV8gpIrIR9s/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-HFS9yj6kz8p1tWq
The BEST version of this song is when Pau’s drum teacher took over and she got to unleash the front woman energy.

Ottima video! 👌
Wow that’s amazing!
@@ashlenamusic 🙂🙏
Nice you picked this version which show their slap back on the Mexicans. I think the Mexicans have forgiven them since. They should make a compilation with live versions of their songs. Keep up the good work.
Totally agree!
🚪💭 🙂 made it. . 👍🇳🇿
a classic EFF- U to their detractors..and i hope those who tried to pull them down understand they were WRONG! their school was bilingual, spanish and english, their parents filled their home with classic rock,,they wanted to "cover" those songs so english is default!
Oh they are definitely kicking themselves
They weren't the first to do Warning Wednesday either.
🤷🏽♀️ I wouldn’t know!
@@ashlenamusic it's cool, I'll watch all The Warning Wednesdays!
Xx
Not the best translation, but it'll do.
"They say that I'm egotistical, a damned narcissist.
!" Anyway, huge middle finger to the haters here, not unlike "Six Feet Under" :D
thanks for this!
Ole! Ole'Ole' Ole'! Warning, Warning! 🎶🎶🎶🔥🤟
Среда! Поехали!
It’s Pomona not Ponoma 😂 but I understand
😂😂😂😂
Part of the challenge translating is matching tone, especially with words that have multiple meanings. Best to go strong with Narcisista! Another challenge is that Spanish usually omits pronouns. "You" plural and "they" use the same verb forms, so we have to consider context. In Narcisista, we have "you" singular commands like "no creas," and "you" plural commands like "aléjense" and "déjenme." We have lyrics directed at detractors, requiring "you," lyrics directed at the audience where detractors are "they," and some that could go either way. I give "you" the benefit of the doubt:
You say I need to be prayed for.
So concerned,
but I don't see you praying that much.
It's not for much. Cut the judgment already.
Get away from me. Please!
Criticize me a little more.
I find myself entertained,
listening to all you say, to all your badmouthing.
Let me laugh a little more.
Because you, you know nothing.
You run your mouth and don't shut up.
I cover my ears and simply say,
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
Let me deny the list. I'm not crazy or a malinchista.
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
You say I'm an egotist, a damned narcissist.
I don't know what to do at this point.
I don't see the point in pretending.
I won't try anymore because now I know
That behind the curtains they continue to talk!
Their good intentions are always a bit too much.
Don't think you're fooling me with that disguise!
Because you, you know nothing.
You run your mouth and don't shut up.
I cover my ears and simply say
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
Let me deny the list. I'm not crazy or a malinchista.
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
You say I'm an egotist, a damned narcissist.
Na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na, na
I'll deny the list again
I'm not crazy or a malinchista.
Na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na, na
You say I'm an egotist, a damned narcissist!
