I'm sure others will fill you in... Pau wrote this song in Spanish to answer Mexican haters who criticized The Warning for writing their songs in English.
It was their way of telling the critics to go Fuck themselves.
I also heard that their mom Monica helped with the Spanish idiosyncrasies, just to be sure their intent/message was poignant!
@@genboyer There's an interview out there where Pau and her sisters explain that the original lyrics were written in English, translated to Spanish, but weren't really happy with the result. Pau asked her mom for help. Mom corrected some grammar and may have suggested lyrical tweaks as well. In that interview, the sisters admitted to being not all that skilled in the grammar. A web search should pop up the interview.

Beto Ramos the guess drummer, Paulina drum teacher. In these shows at Teatro Metropolitan The Warning honored Alejandra teacher (Pablo Gonzales) and Paulina's teacher (Beto Ramos) by inviting them to join the stage. Girls are so humble and very cool!
This song is a response to a reporter who grilled them with the question: you’re Mexican , why don’t you sing in Spanish? Some began calling them “race traitors”. Pau saw this as an attack on her beloved sisters. So she wrote their first song in Spanish with the help of her mom, Monica, a dentist. I don’t remember much high school Spanish, but “porque tu no sabes nada”, translates to “because you don’t know anything..”. “ callate” means “shut up. Sick burn! Pure sass stage performance.
Dany's faces are legendary! But so are Pau's and Ale's. You just Don't know who to watch, they are all explosive.
Whichever one you are watching will mesmerize you for the entire concert! I witness this firsthand just being captivated by Ale' from about 8' away!!

In a 3 piece band, there is nowhere to hide. It is like a 3 legged stool. All parts must be strong to support the whole. There is no weak spot in The Warning!
Dany is 100% passion, and she is The BOSS! She is an absolute sweetheart of a person, yet has an incredible drive and fire in her! She is the Queen and Commander!
Pau is an outspoken, genius level, 5 foot tall stick of dynamite! She has enough energy to light a city!
Ale is the quiet one. She is the secret weapon. She is the groove! She sets the mood and is so solid I dare you to listen for a wrong bass while she never stops moving on stage! Also, take into account that she is 5 years younger than Dany! Even at a very young age she more than kept up with her sisters!
On top of that, their combined singing and songwriting talent is next level! They are going to be one to biggest bands in the world and possibly one of the greatest of all time! Future Legends!

This song is a big F.U. to the haters who called them "Malinchistas' (cultural appropriators) for singing in English. So their very first song in Spanish, they made no doubt about letting the critics know. I love it.

When you know the context of this, their first song in Spanish, that because they were only singing in English, they were called 'Malinchista', which is term that means 'being a traitor to your culture', so Pau wrote this song in Spanish basically giving those critics the proverbial middle finger. Also the fact that the guest drummer is Pau's drum teacher, puts another personal note to this already powerful performance.
This performance of Narcisista is the best one ever and every time I see it I cry because it is so energetic and so much joy on that stage. Seeing all three sisters enjoying it to the max is a experience you can´t get enough of. How ever I am standing or sitting there is no way to be still. I´m not only bopping my head, I am rocking out with every nerve in my body. If and I hope they do release this gig on Blue-Ray, it is going to be even more fantastic to enjoy it. Another thing, Ramos Pau´s teacher who sits in on the drums demonstrates where she has got her drum technique from. It was great to see you react and rock out to this, keep it up!

All of the lighting and equipment, hauled in by over 30 people and set up, timed and programmed, all for ONE show. They didn't take this on tour. Every element of the full concert on video was absolutely as well planned out as possible. And the set list choice and performance by them is perfecto. And the way they engaged the eager audience.
I'll call this "a best" ever concert video. Everything powerfully on point with full intent knowing this could be a make or break thing.

OOOOH yeah, you should do the whole concert - and for más Pau, listen to "Dust to Dust" where she lead sings the whole song from the drum kit and oh. my. god.
Having Pau come out from behind the kit to sing this song doesn't happen very often - only 5 times by my count, but I could be missing one or two. After these shows Dany and Ale said their biggest concern with having her out front with them was that they didn't know what she would do so they were worried about hitting her with their guitars.
The thing about these three is that there is no ego in the band and they all support and encourage each other 100%. Ale does not like to sing lead and does not want to sing lead, but there are a couple of songs that fit her range and she has filled in if Dany is a bit under the weather or needs a break. on those occasions you will catch glimpses of Dany looking over at her just beaming with that big sister pride for her.
Great comments and reaction! You're so right. There are no "second players" in The Warning and they write their songs so incredibly well so that everything in the song's structure is balanced. Nothing is included just "for show". Everything is intentional and has purpose.
Ale does sing lead sometimes, usually when Dany needs a break from her voice. I know there is a video where she sings lead instead of Dany, but I forget what concert it was.
I saw Ale sing lead on 2 songs in Toronto a couple weeks ago.
There are a few concerts where she sang "Hunter" and/or "Red Hands Never Fade". Just search for these titles together with "Ale". None of these have been professionally recorded though. It's all fan footage.

Have you guys checked out Queen Of The Murder Scene from this same concert? If you think Ale's doing a lot in these songs, you have to check out the more prog-metal-alternative stuff they did in the title track of their second album. The live version from teatro metropolitan 2022 (this same show) is absolutely incredible to watch and hear...
Last year they had Arejay Hale the drummer from Halestorm play the drums for this song a few times.
You can hear Ale singing Hunter when they were with Stryker. Ale has sang Hunter and Red Hands Never Fade. She sang both these songs in November with Three Days Grace. FYI Dany comes out and sings with 3 Days but one the last halfof the last song.

Nice Reaction! After they got back from their month in Europe (the first couple of days of July) they took about a month off and then went back on tour the first part of August and went through Canada (several cities). Another reactor in Canada was introduced to The Warning about 2 weeks before their concert in Toronto (August 13) and immediately bought tickets and then started doing as many of The Warning reactions she could. She loved the show and was right in front of Ale and Ale ended up singing lead on 2 songs that night. Sadly, it will probably be awhile before they go back through Canada. You have to keep checking their web site for their tour schedule. Hey, they also just released a video with the whole show at Teatro in one video.
I was at the TW Toronto concert on August 13 - AXiS CLUB. Ale took the lead vocals in two songs.

Ale does not have a song she sings lead on but she will sing lead if Dany's voice needs rest. Most recently she sang lead on Red Hands Never Fade and Hunter in Axis Club Toronto August 13. She has a unique voice and no training but she also has perfect pitch which works against her because she is always trying to stay in tune so sometimes she sounds pitchy. She does a fantastic job on the spot and with proper training she could have the breakthrough lead because of the uniqueness of her voice. imo
Pau's full name is Paulina, so it's simply a shortened name, but a very fortuitous one indeed.
Interesting your take that Pau's voice is deep -- Dany has a wider range both low and high. Pau's voice is powerful, certainly, but she cannot go as low as Dany (listen to Dull Knives).
Ale's voice is not as developed as Dany's and Pau's; you can hear her sing a few songs in their recent Toronto concert: Red Hands Never Fade and Hunter. Dany normally sings those (when they play them), but Dany needed to reduce her workload for that concert so Ale helped out. She does not enjoy singing live, but they really are all for one and one for all, so she will do so if necessary. Her chest voice is low and smoky, a bit more jazzy than Dany's power rock voice and Pau's more delicate voice (but she can project power when needed), but she has an excellent falsetto that she sometimes uses in harmony (often Pau sings the high harmony, though).
For a few other songs that are a bit more typical of Pau's singing, listen to 23 and Revenant. Revenant is a ballad requiring two guitars, so it's very rarely performed, but Pau sings from the front. Revenant is a great example of the harmonies they produce; Enter Sandman is another. Yes, it is Enter Sandman, but it's Enter Sandman by The Warning.

I love them all, but Ale is the secret weapon - her bass line is the glue, switching between underlining Pau'''s drums fill or Dany's guitar riffs. So are her harmonies. A kind soul has put subtitles for those of us who don't speak Spanish. All my observations are with respect to the premiere of Narcisista at Foro Sol in June 2019. The translation explains Pau's single handed theatrics during certain verses of the song.

How many 16 year olds have the guts to stand up to her critics & tell them to shut up instead of cowering away? Fed up with constant barrage from a section of the Mexican press about why they only sing in English, Pau wrote this acerbic riposte. The girls then presented the 1st draft to their mom for grammatical check in Spanish. Legend has it that Mony asked them to tone down the vitriol as she was afraid of the backlash her daughters might receive.
However you can see the viciousness in Pau's presentation when The Warning debuted Narcisista at Foro in 2019 - aged 19, 17 & 14.

Cherry on the cake is when she rubs it in with "No soy loca ni Malinchista" or Neither am I mad nor Malinchista. Malinche was an Aztec (Nahua) woman who helped the Spanish conquerors in taking control of Mexico some 5 centuries back. Hence the term Malinchista for a woman who prefers foreign people, culture, goods, etc. over her own roots. A cultural turncoat if you like.
Ahh...the delicious irony of time when on 16th June 2023 some 500 Spaniards joined Pau & her sisters to sing Narcisista and exactly those words for the 1st time in Madrid.
The conquered have become the conqueror now.

DPA/TW will bring on guest musicians to join them for a song from time to time... in this case the guest drummer, Beto Ramos, is one of Pau's drum coaches... he was brought in to play this song and let her roam the stage as well as paying a homage to him... some other guests have been Pliego Villarreal (no relation to DPA but they do call him cousin), Pablo González Sarre (Ale's bass coach and band mentor), Arejay Hale (Halestorm drummer), and Barry Stock (Three Days Grace lead guitar)... they have also shared the stage with other bands like Moderatto (an '80s glam metal parody band) and Eruca Sativa (Argentine alternative rock band)...

Ale sings lead vocals here in Hunter, link below, to give Dani's voice a rest since she was hurting on a busy tour schedule in Canada. She is gorgeous with blonde highlights on this. It is obvious her voice is like mine, good for background vocals. I am working on mine but still a hard no for leads. No punch or accents or vocal tricks like growls or timely slides. Vocal clarity with consonants to be understood and vowel choices. She has excellent pitch but the band has two lead singers and that is more than most bands. Well this song is actually about The Warning showing middle finger to everyone who are accusing with being malinchista (meaning: attracted by foreign values, thinking them superior, of better quality and worthy of imitation), egoists and narcicists. This critisism is mostly the reflection of their first two studio albums being completely in English (apart from the preacher text in the song 'Dust to Dust'). That's why they made this single in Spanish and made everyone shut their mouths. And ofcourse they added another Spanish song to their next studio album which is called 'Martirio' 🤘

If you want to hear Ale really excelling with her vocals, check out their acoustic version of Sinister Smiles. Ale sings backing vocals, but they're incredible. The songs she sings lead when Dany is under the weather are pretty low for her scale so don't really show off her voice. As she doesn't like singing lead, that makes it harder to really hear her voice as she only does it when it's required!
