Thanks! Much appreciated. Mac Pro 5.1 still has a lot of usefulness left to it. It’s great for day to day use tasks, still, and maybe more. I definitely plan to revisit it in another video with more coverage.
@DataHombre. A little tip about your work: With this upgrade it would also have been important to renew the thermal paste on the north bridge, because the diode and heatsink are sometimes exposed to high temperatures, depending on the performance demands!
@@DataHombre Hello, I have 2 Mac Pro mid 2012,one has 2X3.33 and another has 2X3.46,both with 128 gigs of ram ,both are running macOS Monterey on nvme in raid zero,GPU is a RX580 -8 gigs You can upgrade yours with OpenCore Legacy Patch...

Thanks for writing. In my opinion ---> The 2nd config is the max level you can upgrade the Mac Pro 5.1 line as far as CPU specs go, however the first one seems to be overall a better value for the money, I think, as you get NVME storage, a solid GFX card, and more ram. I think for games, there is not much edge to either config, and keep in mind that these are now 14 years old or so, so not going to be performing well for most modern games of today (if you run through Bootcamp/Windows), however your milage may vary based on the age of the game you are playing, and perhaps 5 year old or older games may be more acceptable in performance. Can't give a definitive answer here, as it's highly subjective.
Over SEVENTEEN minutes to show "how to replace two ZIF CPUs". Yeah, right... I've seen videos in which people have shown how to upgrade firmware from 4,1 to 5,1, de-lid "lidded" CPUs, clean them and install - or how to get around "no lid CPUs to lidded ones", install new RAM and graphic card (with explanation "which one and why" thrown in), and all - and all that in less time than this one here...
The best mac desktop design apple ever created.
I agree. It holds up to this day for common computer tasks. :)
@@DataHombre totally!
My fav Mac pc!!!
Thanks for commenting. It's probably the best they ever made, IMHO. :)
@@DataHombre it really is!!! upgrading it has been very fun..
Nice video man. Keep them coming. Not too many new ones on the 5,1

@@DataHombre np lol it was a good video
Cool vid :D
Thanks. T! Much appreciated.
What brand pci e card are you using? thx
It’s a no name card that I bought years ago off of ebay. I think any pci-e to nvme m.2 adapter should work.
I'm using OWC and I am happy with 😂😅
You forget 2X3.33 before the 2X3.46
Thanks for your comment. I personally had 2 x 3.06 in mine before this upgrade.

@@Locky2701 are there noticeable performance differences?
@@jovendios
Not really, I got 2X3.33 first and 2X3.46 after from my friend
@@jovendios
If you have 2X2.93 or 2X3.06
It's better to upgrade to 2X3.46
I would have put cpu over empty socket first
