Excellent video very well explained. I have a 2008 BMW 750LI it jumps when i change the gear from park to reverse , Sometimes it will not go in to any gears at all . I had a lots of fluid changed it cost me more then thousand dollars on just the fluid changes . It still does not make any difference , The dealers do not service this car anymore. it is the vacuum line that is the problem but hard to locate there are to many lines coming from engine to transmission .
the car has 1056000 km on it , new transmission is not required . Thanks for posting the repair video.

Bashirsz Darz you have it fixed by now i hope. I just I wanted to add my two cents by saying that the vacuum line doesn't affect the gear change from neutral to reverse, as far as I know. It just effects the quality/timming of the shift. Linkage or valvebody is my thought. :-)

Just changed mine this evening...1967 Ford Galaxie 500 convertible 390 2bbl with C6...there was no pin...but I had serious shifting problems before (shifted hard and at higher-than-normal RPM) but now it shifts very smoothly but at way low RPM...like 10MPH for 1->2 shift and around 20 to hit 3rd...

You need to adjust your pin.
There are videos on how to do that.
      I'm having a similar problem.
Mine's going into second at 15 MPH then into 3rd at 20 MPH

The throttle valve is part of the kick down circuitry. The modulator and valve control mainline pressure per the engine load. ;)

Thanks for the video. Is the function of the Vacuum Modulator Valve only to control gear changes? When I adjust the Vacuum Modulator Valve the Modulator Pressure changes and often drops to zero bar.

Hello, I have a 1971 Mercury Monterey with a 5.8l 351W engine and an FMX transmission. The transmission control module went bad and so I bought a new one. I’m worried about the little rod that goes into the new module because it is very loose inside the module and moves around when I try to install it. I am afraid that the rod will fall out into the transmission itself. It is also a threaded module. Do you happen to have any advice for properly installing the rod and making sure it stays in place?

Where does the vaccum line go to the manifold? Is it a hard line or rubber? My mustang having shifting problems. Have to rev up high to get it to shift.

I have a C6 transmission and I get up to about 55 miles an hour and it slips out of gear I have nothing and an engine just revs until I let it coast down to about 15 miles an hour and then it goes back into again. Could this be the problem

Mine was missing as well.I went to my local transmission shop and asked them. He gave me 4 different sizes. He said you can tell the one that fits best has a little resistance, not too much but just a little. I started with the second to largest size but it was too small. Moved up to the biggest one and that fit just right. This is on a 1970 maverick c4 automatic transmission.

check your vacuum line for leaks.
If that doesn't work you may need a new modulator.

@@cboswell569 I just discovered my vacuum line from Mod was attached to the "timed spark fitting on the primary metering block" which is used for the vacuum advance. I have an MSD mechanical distributor and will plug Mod line into the manifold vacuum source, and plug the fitting on the primary metering block. This should help a lot.

@@rapson672 Make sure your linkage arms on the side of the trans are in the proper adjustement while your at it. Good Luck. Oh, those trans moduals go bad also, usually screw in and inexpensive. Different color stripes on them are codes for how they perform, like hard shift, soft shift etc etc. Green striped Mod is normal shifting if I remember correctly. Good Luck!!

Maybe this is why my automatic transmission has very delayed shifts now. I have to manually opt in second gear and then it wont go to third unless it goes up to 2000-2500 rpm

Fox McCloud 007 Exactly my issue. I have a 1970 Ford F100 that likes to shift around the time it sounds like it’s about to blow, and I think the original modulator on my truck isn’t adjustable (just poked around with a tiny flathead, as advised, and found nothing to adjust inside of it), but the new one will be in tomorrow, and we’ll see how the replacement does! So excited it could be this cheap and easy to fix. Been dealing with it for a couple of months...
