I don't know how your channel was in my feed a couple weeks ago but I clicked on your video and watched it. Two weeks later I think I have almost watched all of your videos. Such a nice channel and so calming to watch. It makes me think about home. Being so far away it's nice to be able to watch and smile. Thanks for the great content. I'm happy to be subscribed and look forward to more videos. 😊😊😊

No surprise on the *_’record day’_* sales, you’re such an engaging fella with quality produce. So pleased it’s all come together for you, though it’s no happy accident. You reap what you sow.
It's so refreshing to see this cozy market with people conducting business the old fashion way. It's such a nice change of pace from the rat race. It looks like you need to expand the operation to satisfy all those customers.
I am in Utah. And we have some farmer’s markets. But NOTHING like this! I would be out at yours shopping every two weeks for groceries. And your meat would be top of my list each time! If I am ever that far over in the country, I plan to stop by. We really need something on this level here in my state. To see so many people shopping for good, quality meat and produce like this, is really cool. 👍
I check TH-cam anxiously about every other day waiting for your videos. I grew up in a farm in Argentina and now live in California where owning one is nearly impossibly expensive. But I relive my childhood through your content. Thank you.
@@lordjaashin I do not disagree with any of that, and it has been a thought for some time now. But, for me, packing up and moving is a daunting process but one that I will see come to fruition in the next couple of years. As for starting a farm, idk, that is an even more daunting endeavor but who knows what the future holds. I would be happy with a few acres to raise some chicken.
People are at the farmers market because they want to be there, it is a social event. not unlike the supermarket where most need to be there out of necessity, and everyone is in a hurry.
we lived in Greene NY for 7 years right next to a dairy farm. We only had 2 acres but had a large garden where we would grow all our vegetables for the year. We now live in TN and have a 15 acre homestead. Plan A was Greene and Plan B is our current homestead. love the channel.
I once worked for a company that bent over backwards to take care of customers. The owner's philosophy was "take care of the customer and the money will follow". He built up one store into over a hundred stores throughout the US. We need more folks like that who care about people. Thanks for another great video.
I am in Bklyn NY and I work among very negative people that are not nice to me...so yes I do understand what you said and working on finding another job out of state so I can go to farmers markets regularly and meet nice positive people like you and others. God Bless!
I think that the most glaring impression that I have of both you and your family is the incredibly wide-ranging skill set that you have. The extent to which you have those skills indicates the effort and time that you must have spent, and are still spending, to hone them. Thank you for your always informing, interesting and entertaining videos. I was in a classroom from the age of 5 to the age of 61 and I think that you are an excellent teacher! Greetings from Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.
From the looks of things, you could have sold almost twice as much. What a great day!! What a nice clientele you have built up! Rewards for all that hard work you put in!!
The wood floors and open trusses really add to the nostalgia of the place. Of course being and older person just hearing “Ithaca” reminds me of my favorite shotgun, the famous model 37.
I believe that one of the main reason that the buyers don’t complain is because of the quality of the product is way above what they have been getting from the big retailers over the years. You get what you pay for quality over quantity any day. I wish that we had big farmer’s market like this in the UK
All I can say is that God has a plan for all of us and nothing we go through doesn't grow our story and our legacy. I can see how your architectural background gives you good perspectives on angles for your video production. You help us see what it's like to really be there. I appreciate these videos as a new, first generation farmer trying to farm full time. Im working hard, but I've not made the switch. It'll be a year for us 9-22. Thanks Peter!

Me and my siblings summer jobs when we were in elementary school was tending our 1 acre garden and going to farmers market every Saturday to sell all the produce
I'm impressed with the Ithaca market. The aisles in front of the booths look to be about 20' wide and that gives the public a lot of room to walk the market without bumping into each other. They did a good job designing it for the farmers and buyers, to have a good shopping experience.
Watching the people at your booth you can see they are happy customers purchasing high quality healthy products . Its product that is worth money . Wish we had more people producing on a small scale . Happy animals with less stress better living conditions make better food .
I learned why so many local farmer's markets are small and unlike the size and variety of Ithaca's. It takes years to produce enough products to support a market the size of Ithaca. Thank you for educating us about small farms.
Congratulations Hillary and Pete for a record day at the farmers market! You are rewarded for your hard work and organization; that i call justice! You also rewarded me by speaking of the important skill that you brought from your career as an architect that helps you sell meat.
I stopped by and said hi, briefly, at the Farmers Market on Saturday. Thanks for the great video. Last night, I was grilling some meat I'd gotten a few weeks earlier at IFM, and I noticed that that meat had a note about where it'd been processed. It made me wonder about the different processing options. I know that a few years ago, finding space in a processing plant was a huge challenge for local small farmers. You've shown videos where you do all the processing yourself. And as you noted in this video, you have some fresh chickens at each market. But in many cases, farmers are required to sell their meat frozen, right? Any chance you can discuss the different ways in which you and other farmers manage the options around meat processing? Thanks again for the very interesting videos.
Hi, the government rules on this are confusing to say the least. Beef and pork has to be processed at a facility with a USDA inspector to be sold "by the cut." Limited amounts of poultry can be butchered on the farm under the USDA's "small farm exemption," without federal inspection. When we take beef or pork to the butcher, we get a large amount of meat back and it can't be sold quickly enough to keep it all fresh, so it goes in the freezer (actually, it is frozen when we pick it up at the butcher). For chicken, we can process small quantities weekly to bring it to the market fresh. The butchers are still backed up, but that hasn't affected us very much. My family has used the same butcher for 40 years, and he lets us know when his calendar is filling up so we can schedule dates ahead of time. Currently we have dates booked with him out to the end of 2022.
Pete your success is a representation of the dedication that your family contributes to the farm. So glad that you are able to exceed expectations when it comes to farmers market. Sure wish everyone had your point of view!

I think one reason why you do so great is not only your customer service skills but also the fact that every stage of the production is done by you and Miss Hilarie. No doubt, the quality of your meat can't be beat by any grocery store around. 😊👍👍
I hope these videos are increasing your sales at the markets. You're a great guy Pete, with a beautiful family. Congratulations on your success. I enjoy your being at the market once in a while on your videos. And you or your father aren't old yet. I worked for AT&T 35 1/2 years and now I have been retired 20 years.
The awesome thing about the saturday markets is you become friends with all the other people there. It's a family in itself. The gratification is beyond description, and helps reinforce what we were meant to be when self reliance was the norm not the youtube channel fodder. No disrespect, guys but in a juxtapose...funny how these have become such top notch entertainment and so novel, when it was such common sense and typical life skill back just 70 years ago.
Hi Pete! I couldn’t agree more with your comment about getting energy from customer engagement at the market. Last spring I started taking my eggs to market. Now I draw so much energy, inspiration and motivation from that market time every 2 weeks! Even on the weeks where I don’t feel like packing up and hauling all the things to market, I come away at the end of the day both exhausted and rejuvenated at the same time from that special customer interaction. Something about being around like-minded people who truly value your efforts is just electric!
Pete, I totally enjoy your videos & your general outlook on living a better life. I also believe it's time to go back to a simpler way of life. Sometimes the answer for the future is looking back in history & see what worked when there wasn't much to work with. Len
Definitely the go to channel. Very addicting! Have learned a lot about the quality of farm raised vs store. The comparison is remarkable. Thanks for showing that
Thank you for sharing the Ithaca farmers market vendors and your knowledge! It can get a bit crowded sometimes when I go but it's nice to see so many of my favorite farmer booths still hustling!
I’m heading to a multi-generation birthday party in upstate NY soon and look forward to a little detour to the Ithaca Farmer’s Market. I want to support you because I believe in the type of farming you do.
Every time I hear or see "Susquehanna" I laugh thinking about an old bit that Abbott & Costello did involving the Susquehanna Hat Company and poor Costello getting hat after hat destroyed by people angry over what the Hat Company had done to them. It just killed me watching them.
Pete, it's great that you take the time to promote the Ithaca farmer's market and the other vendors. Rising waters float all boats.

Glad we got to meet you yesterday! Making stew with dexter beef tonight🐂
Every time I hear or see "Susquehanna" I laugh thinking about an old bit that Abbott & Costello did involving the Susquehanna Hat Company and poor Costello getting hat after hat destroyed by people angry over what the Hat Company had done to them. It just killed me watching them.
Entertaining & educational delivered by pleasant Pete.
