Hi Greg! Finding the targets and seeing them on the screen is always very exciting. This is why I like to record videos without practicing to capture genuine reactions and emotions. I would just leave stacking at 999. Once you lock a target and begin a session, focus first. Once you begin, you can always stop at any time but you can not add more to the stack if you for example set a max of like 80, but if you set 999, you have the choice to stop at 80 or keep going if the going is good. The Dwarf is tiny, but it should not be underestimated, because it is quite a powerful tool, especially now that it has the sky atlas.
Yes! Great advice! I struggled with this one as it is low and I have many trees here. I got impatient and didn't know exactly where it was. I am hoping to photograph it again as it will be visible other days. Do you know if I can center the object once tracking? That was the main problem, too. I appreciate your time and advice. Diana ❤️
@@yourfavoriteastronerd For centering, that would seem to be an issue with the coords you entered manually I believe. You would have to figure out which one would move the up and down axis and adjust that coordinate manually. It could be a little more complicated if you polar aligned your Dwarf lol but it should still be simple enough to figure it out. You seem to know what you are doing well enough. The one thing I noticed is I must give the Dwarf a little time, like at least 30 secs or so to allow for motion drift to gently settle once I lock a target before I begin to capture so stars stay as sharp and round as possible. Also, make use of the filters. I use IR Pass almost always now at night and gently attach the LP filter AFTER calibrating, because you could potentially damage the Dwarf leaving that on and calibrating... I never tried to capture a comet yet but I did try for a few hours to image a black hole last night lmao 😅Good luck and clear skies!!!

I sat there on a quiet field for like 3-4 hours getting bit by mosquitos and other bugs and being miserable all while trying to study the area where the nearest black hole is supposed to be. Now I did end up with a very clear image, 250 stacks of 15 sec exp at 80 gain which gave me an awesome fov of that part of the sky, but I didn't see any unusual warping or other anomalies I was hoping to find lol. I think the Dwarf is a great telescope, but its a bit small to see REALLY far into deep space. In that same regard, we never really know whats out there until we try and take a look for ourselves... instead of always relying on other outside sources and perspectives.
Hi Diana. I'm a fellow astronomer but my observatory is down at the moment it housed 11" celestron at f2, 132 and 110mm apo refractors, but wish you clear skies.

This was great! Is it possible to capture shooting star/meteorite with the wide angle view timelapse on the dwarf 2. I think some are coming up peaking august 12/13 ish
Hi Rashidi! Well, I am not sure about the meteorites. I see many here, and I thought , I captured some, but one of my friends' here said, they are satellites. Keep me posted if you can capture some! I know the Dwarf 3 will do it. Diana
There is so much stuff missing from the app that would be simple to implement and make it much more convenient, like using the joystick to nudge the FOV or use the plate solve to click on a star to identify and centre it. Or overlay the FOV in the Sky Atlas like with the Seestar. At a minimum it should display the current RA, Dec, altitude and azimuth plus the tilt of the mount from the calibration. I wish they would open it up with an API for 3rd party plugin support or scripting. But I guess its more aimed at the casual observer which is a shame as it is not just a toy!
Hi TMA, Dwarflab released several upgrades for the Dwarf 2 this week. I was reading about it yesterday; they are all on the BETA version.
