Fun fact the name Strato Patrol EOS is a reference to HAL's Famicom game Uchuu Keibitai SDF which is also a vertical shoot em up like that Kirby subgame. They even share similar logos. I'd recommend trying it if you never seen or played it before.
Yeah, there's also a special in Kirby Quest that references TRAX, another Shmup they made on the gameboy. The dragon with the boxing gloves is the first boss in that game.
Fun watch! Really happy seeing the Gameboy and GBC spinoff subgames be represented! I also adored Star Catcher it's a very ingenious use of the main paddle mechanic, also yea Bomb Rally is my fave, it's insanely fun in KRTDLDX
Did you know that in the Rtdld version of Egg Catcher, at the end of the minigame, Kirby and Dedede actually spit out some chickens from their mouth? Also, really cool video!
Yep! I think it's pretty cool they kept that in from Adventure, especially with how they made Dedede do it as well considering he's the only other character in Egg Catcher that eats the eggs using his mouth!
The most annoying thing about quick draw in Kirby's Adventure is that there's a challenge in NES Remix 2 I just had you play through quick draw all the way up to Bonkers to clear the challenge yeah you don't even fight Dedede in that challenge remind you I wasn't that well known with Kirby back in the day so I end up calling the opponents from quick draw names I end up calling them . Waddle Doo: *Dude* Starmen: *Carly* Sword knight: *Joe* Bonkers: *Popeye* . And if I find out that King Dedede was also in quick draw but I already knew who King Dedede is what if my younger self would give it a name I would have called him *Penguin*
48:25 I dunno man, I just wanna have fun with these sub games, I’m not looking for difficulty when I want to have fun, I’ll do difficultly but I usually don’t enjoy it, sometimes yeah speedy teatime nothing much happens, but still you get to feed cute Kirby some cake🧁, though I will say I do love how epic brawlball and Kirby quest on mass attack goes pretty hard, I love em
That's a fair viewpoint! I know that little part there probably made it sound otherwise, but difficulty's not really a big concern with these Sub-Games to me, although I do appreciate it when it's present, it gives some of the single-player ones a little more longevity imo, like Challenge Mode. I'm mostly just looking to have fun with them, so it's mostly down to how much I enjoy the gameplay, hence why something I found fun and satisfying like Wave Ride was pretty high up despite the CPUs having negative IQ and why something as simplistic and one-sided as Speedy Teatime not didn't really do it for me. It's great you enjoy it though and that reason is 100% valid, sometimes we all just need to sit down and feed Kirby some cake :)
@@pekachow1 yeah, I can understand games being condescendingly easy is kinda like the game is mocking you, and yeah wave ride does feel rewarding if you get that timing down just right
(Also know what’s weird, technically the ability challenge rooms in Kirby’s Return to Dreamland(& deluxe) is listed as sub-games, those are pretty fun, they test your skills in clever ways and it proves how well you can use each copy ability too…or normal Kirby in terms of item challenge)
Honestly, these are the kind of topics I applaud people like you for taking, because the Sub Games honestly need all kinds of justice. I will say, I do understand why multiplayer doesn't mostly factor in the ranking, but I still think some way to do Vs. for the handheld games for example could've at least told if there was some kind of unique variation or value to something like Squeak Squad that's not there in single player.
Also gotta admit, I thought it was such a waste that Kirby's Wave Ride was scrapped in favor of Crackity Hack. I actually really hope that Merry Magoland could get a Deluxe version that includes more revamps of the sub-games here, because yeah, as much as I love Checkerboard Chase, I need my Bumper Crop Bump fix after Smash Remix gave it lip service.
A new video cool I haven't played many Kirby games ( Only played Super Star Ultra, Kirby Triple Deluxe, and Planet Robobot) so my favorite sub games are Gourmet Race because I like racing King Dedede and Kirby 3D Rumble from Planet Robobot
Putting Bomb Rally in #22 and the remake in #21 not #2 and #1 is awful -1/10 In all seriousness though, this was a well-thought out and constructive video on the many fun (and not so fun) sub-games of the Kirby series. Very nice!
I really like extra epic yarn. I had a lot of fun playing it and I had never played the original. I know a lot of people don’t like how it added copy abilities into the game but honestly, I think they make the game way more fun. The levels seem boring without them to me. I know the game wasn’t designed to have copy abilities but at the same time I don’t really care because I think they just make the game better
I'm not the biggest fan of it myself, but it's great to hear you enjoy it! Personally I thought the abilities were a little too strong as someone who grew up playing the original a lot and it just felt like they trivialized or broke a lot of things imo, but to each their own! I really liked some of the new stuff like the Sub-Games and the bigger focus on Kirby's Pad though!
@@pekachow1 I really feel like what the remake needed was options. There should be an option to turn off the copy abilities if you don’t want them there. You can just not use them if you don’t want to I guess but I still think it should be an option. The devilish mode adding a health bar is really cool but the little devil that shows up and bothers you every two seconds and changes the music is annoying so there should be an option to turn that off but keep the health bar but there isn’t. I don’t know why but Nintendo really hates options. It’s also weird how there’s no multiplayer mode. They could’ve added it in but they just didn’t for some reason
...wait is squeak squad not well received? i remember playing it back when i was a much more casual fan and i liked the copy abilities. the fun... rodent guys? i dont remember much but what i do i remember fondly lol.
Among the Kirby fandom it's typically viewed as one of the weaker entries, although most people I've seen agree it's not necessarily a bad game. It gets a lot of criticism for feeling a little basic and cookie-cutter while also having a few bad aspects like the story and final boss. Flaws aside, I always thought it was pretty cool though! It's still pretty fun and I really liked how a lot of the abilities interacted with the level design!
It’s as poorly received as a Kirby game can be gameplay wise it’s generally decently liked you won’t see it on anyone’s top tens but nobody dislikes or hates it it’s mostly the story that people don’t like and that’s fair I guess
@@insomnibomb4830 Never understood why people complain about the story. Space pirates steal Kirby’s favorite food in the world and it kickstarts an entire adventure. Seems about as Kirby of a story as you can get
@@KirbyMasterArchives people are annoyed about how kirby thinks Dedede did it and how it ultimately turns out the cake wasnt stolen by anybody apparently (that is if your ignoring meta information)
43:18 not the most replayble? I literally delayed a video for a week trying to max out the score by murdering Mr shine over and over (which is how you acess the secret boss which I can tell you didn't know about)
I couldn't really get into the original Smash Ride thanks to the touch controls, sorry if the low placement on the list was disappointing ): I find the Return to Dream Land Deluxe version to be a lot of fun though!
Best part of the sub games from mass attack are all of the anime references

You can play rtdld Kirby on the draw in handheld mode with the touchscreen (by far the best way to play)
Didn't know about that, I always forget the Switch has a touch screen as someone who usually just plays on my TV! Thanks for pointing that out!
Damn, I was about to say that! You beast me to it!

Checkerboard chase is my fav sub game. The skill ceiling is so high! It is so fun, addictive and perfect for multiplayer.
Kirby 64 geniunely has one of the most underrated multiplayers in general.

@KirbyIcebergLopunnyDude Yeah I agree with you, sadly Meta Knight and Bandana Dee can't do it, for obvious reasons
@damianporter942 I agree, it's very neat and cute that they do this!
aww heck yeah my dose of niche kirb media
So glad to see the Kirbo 64 minigames so up in the list, specially as i got a physical copy of it very recently.

Kirby is gonna shoot someone
I love kiby 😊
If all the kirby mass attack mini games aren't at the very top you're wrong, just saying in advance.
