Mean Gene might be the only person to go through the down days of WCW who not only didn't get embarrassed, but may have thrived during those days. Gene kept his dignity and seemed to have a damn good time!
The WWF had every tabloid news show interviewing Steph and Linda. They both said "Oh no, THIS is real." Every one of those tabloid news shows had to run subsequent shows, seemingly out of anger, because the wedding wasn't real.
This is when Hunter truly made himself into the top heel of WWF. The way he sells the whole angle, the presence he has, his body at its peak, mic skills fully polished and his chemistry with everyone. Made me want to see him get his due every week and made watching WWF late 99/2000 one of my favorite periods in wrestling.
I really hated the TV Title being thrown in the trash. But if WCW felt as if they had to get rid of it, why not just unify it with the United States Title in a Ladder Match? It would've been a more respectful way for it to go out than throwing it in the garbage can.

I know people have gripes about the 3rd incarnation of DX. Triple H was ready to blossom as a ruthless singles competitor, no longer someone who gets held back by a group and who does silly adolescent gestures. But the Run DMC song that they eventually used was arguably better than the original, and the McMahon Helmsley era kept things interesting for a while, especially in hindsight since it foreshadowed real life.
For all that people mention the Fingerpoke of Doom happening the same night as Mankind's championship win, the beginning of the McMahon-Helmsley regime happening the same night as WCW mocking a stroke victim is severely under-scrutinized.
the difference is even if wcw was losing during the fingerpoke, they were still in the 5 ratings and with a bit of tweak they can still fight wwf. they tweaked it the wrong way and here we are 10 months after the fingerpoke of doom, nitro is in the 3 rating while raw is still in the 5 with the occasional 6 and 7 ratings in the past few months and they are actually going to go higher in the 2000s. people already realized nitro is a bit of a lost cause now compared to 10 months ago, so nobody checks this weeks episodes as something.
They actually do look more like the Blues Brothers with the (Cheap) sunglasses, the black suits and black ties (Billy Gibbons: BLACK TIE!, I don't need a reason why-y-y). They're just missing the black hats.

I was at this RAW with my sister and her then boyfriend. The 12-year old me at the time wanted more gimmick matches, and we were disappointed that my favorite wrestler (The Undertaker) and their favorite wrestler (Stone Cold) couldn't be there. Rewatching it again with hindsight, I now appreciate what an important RAW it was: the first WWE event at the (then) Staples Center, one of Kurt Angle's first televised matches, one of The Rock's most memorable promos, and the biggest event of the night for pro-wrestling history...the introduction of B.B! Oh, and the (unofficial) start of the McMahon-Helmsley Era was important too, I suppose. P.S: Yes, that crowd was hugely anti-wedding. I would say Triple H was almost a face that night for what he did.

I was at this RAW with my sister and her then boyfriend. The 12-year old me at the time wanted more gimmick matches, and we were disappointed that my favorite wrestler (The Undertaker) and their favorite wrestler (Stone Cold) couldn't be there. Rewatching it again with hindsight, I now appreciate what an important RAW it was: the first WWE event at the (then) Staples Center, one of Kurt Angle's first televised matches, one of The Rock's most memorable promos, and the biggest event of the night for pro-wrestling history...the introduction of B.B! Oh, and the (unofficial) start of the McMahon-Helmsley Era was important too, I suppose.
P.S: Yes, that crowd was hugely anti-wedding. I would say Triple H was almost a face that night for what he did.
