Mike, you asked what we think about the new channel name and then proceeded to say exactly what I was thinking… that it sucks. 😂 I liked the old channel name just fine and I think everyone is used to it. But I understand you put a lot of thought into it and it will probably benefit you in the long run for all the reasons you mentioned. So more power to you and good luck. Btw, would you care to share any other alternative names that you were considering??

My first HF Radio which I still have and use because it's an unkillable tank is an old Icom 737A, when I picked it up off the old ham selling it, he randomly included an even more ancient Kenwood PS30 power supply. Literally walked out of his shack having that IKEA start the car moment! Best $300 I have spent to date.

FWIW--Based on recommendation, my first power supply was a JetStream from R&L. It was great until it wasn't. I started seeing interference roll across the waterfall on 20m. Most of the time. Not always, but most of the time. And only on 20m. I now have an Astron. Heavy and big. No interference. (It does make a weird shutter/vibration though.)

as a subscriber the new name just updated in youtube no problem. Hope this helps to get to more viewers .one thing I learned with dipole antennas is that cutting legs 3/4 wave also will tune 50 ohm and also had better gain and broadband. this is great on higher frequency's. 70 cm GMRS tuned made out of just coax stripped back. 3/4 element up and down. center fed. shield down. works so good it out performs the stock baofeng ant but a lot. I made a 6 meter off set center fed. 3/4 wave element on center and 1/4 wave on shield. ferrite on coax at ant. great tune. 1.55 or less threw the whole band . 5/8 wave did not tune. need matching transformer. keeping simple. 1/4 and 3/4 wave tune with out any coil . 73's

Mike, I look forward to all you videos whatever the name of your channel is. . . . Those connectors on power supplies are called binding posts. . . . My suggestion for Bob Kopf is to go with a switching power supply. I’ve been using an Astron SS-30M (switching PS) for years with no RFI issues at all. The power supplies you mentioned are all good choices, and I would add the Alinco DM-30 to that list (only about $135) . . . . 73, George

I am surprised at how much work you did for a fan dipole. Then I realized your part of Texas may not be plentiful in trees.
I haven't put my ATAS-120A on my car yet, but my plan for portable POTA type stuff is to use a coax jumper from the SO-239 to an EFHW or random wire antenna. As I live in Florida finding a tree for a halfwave antenna is not a problem. In Texas it could be and the 1/4 wave vertical is more manageable with a pushup pole.
    Keep the videos coming.
I'm good with KM8RD or whatever you government thing is. I think both names speak "radio nerd videos here." The callsign brands it to a certian pretty cool ham radio nerd. Tube in my mind has some minor negative conotations from boob tube, tube steak, and down the tubes. Maybe if I was an older radio guy, tube might resonate with the Brits call "valves" in old electronics.
Go ahead. Be generic. Throw away your identity. I DARE YOU!

We are entering a new era in disaster communications that appears to not involve amateur radio.
Yesterday when I watched Governor DeSantis's pre-landfall hurricane brief for Idalia he said, "We have already deploy 500 Starlink terminals to first responders and we have 2700 in reserve ready for deployment." To me that spells the beginning of the end of over 100yrs of amateur radio disaster service communications from the Titanic to hurricane Idalia.
Any passenger car can power a Starlink transeiver and few laptops. If you prefer 200W of PV panels and a 100Ah battery.
Of course a major EMP event could wipe out satellites, but that would like be one of two civilization ending events. Either the strike in nuclear war or a stellar EMP event magnitudes greater than the Carrington Event.

Hi from the UK . I have several so called emergency aerials but don't know what all the fuss is about or even why we need them. From where I live and most of the UK. If I walk in any direction theres a village within 5 miles. If I am out and about theres farms within walking distance. Even in Scotland, Wales, Peak District that can be wild. Still have farms all within walking distance. So I really dont understand why people keep going on about them. Is it just in case your main aerials get damaged, poor emergency service, etc etc. PS we have lots of wire fences in the UK anyway. Cheers from old George

I think I liked the old name better. Putting tube in the name seems kind of cheesy, unless that's what you wanted to gain. You could have done k8mrd ham radio stuff too. Having your callsign in it makes you very well known. The couple times I've heard you on the air doing pota, it was immediately recognizable who you are. Unless I watched a lot of content, I would never recognize Josh, ham radio dude, or Jason from ham radio 2.0. But I have your callsign memorized because it's in your channel name.

Not a fan of the new name......just saying. Sounds too much like Ham radio "DUDE" not saying his is a bad name for a channel but IMHO it is too similar and may cause confusion for people. Oh BTW I have that power supply and absolutely love it!!!

I saw you signed in as Ham Radio Tube on the HRCC live stream and wondered what was up. I think it's fine. I don't envy you - picking a name for something like a TH-cam channel is hard.
