- Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor or EDFC is an under-construction broad gauge freight corridor in India. The railway will run between Ludhiana in Punjab and Dankuni (near Kolkata) in West Bengal via Khurja in Uttar Pradesh. This railway line is one of the multiple freight corridors being constructed by the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL), a public-sector unit (PSU) under the Ministry of Railways. The Eastern DFC will mostly have double tracks and will be electrified, but the section from Ludhiana to Khurja (365 km) will be single line electrified due to lack of space. This freight corridor will cover a total distance of 1,839 km. This corridor is having a 46 km branch line which is joining Khurja (Bulandshahr district) on the Eastern DFC with Dadri (Gautam Buddha Nagar district) on the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (Western DFC).
As of June 2022, 923 km or 50% of the Eastern DFC has been completed and 99% required land for these have been acquired. The Eastern DFC is expected to be complete by March 2023.[2]
First two DFCs, Western DFC, from Dadri, Uttar Pradesh to JNPT (Navi Mumbai) and Eastern DFC from Punjab to West Bengal, which will decongest railway network by moving 70% of India's goods trains to these two corridors, are both on track for completion in March 2023. However, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which caused lockdowns, curfews and restrictions, it resulted in delays in work due to lack of labour.

Love to watch your videos on DFCs , why double stackers are not being operated on EDFCs , any specific reason?
I think it is not needed for Edfc to carry double stacked containers, since most, if not a major part of container traffic is exported/imported only from JNPT, Mumbai and one of the many Gujarat's ports (biggest being Adani's container port). These containers may not be exported/imported much from Kolkata's port.
Eastern DFC isn't connected to any of the ports, but Western DFC is connected to JNPT ,Mundra, Pipavav ports so most of the containers are originated from there, previously dual stack trains used to ply from there to dadri as the route was unelectrified.
Western corridor cater more container logistics & Eastern corridor cater more raw mineral.

I read somewhere that due to design differences between West and East corridor, West being double stacker and East only single stacker, they would be incompatible with each other. The trains from a particular corridor cannot run in the other corridor due to the design differences. It is strange that such a big issue was overlooked at the national level besides it obviously also makes East corridor capacity considerably lower to West corridor. I think this was a huge mistake and I wonder if some kind of regional politics was involved in this.
I also wondered why such a distinction, definitely not because of the quantity of goods movement.. need to research though
WDFC has some section being single line, also WDFC have a lesser OHE height due to assumption that container trains will be less in this route.Still double stack is possible in EDFC with well wagon.

Many more automated facilities but doesn't look alike this case.
Those stations are different from these stations. They have a different application for DFC.

Well urdu is an indo-aryan language and originated from India and still widely use in North & north western regions as there is no national language in our country govt have to give equal position to official languages as well as regional languages that's why you can find urdu only in northern India see in South every station board has name in respective state language with english one. Hence I don't think there is something to shame of.
