The Eagles were more than just an accumulation of certain people and musical instruments. The voices that they so expertly blended along with the instruments that they perfectly played all combined into a concoction that when consumed by the audience created a magical feeling that multiplied itself into a beautiful influence of unique happiness.
One of the best bands in American music history - can't wait to the updated greatest hits package comes out in July 24. Vinyl ready! RIP Glenn Frey - one of the best songwriters ever.
Very good documentary about one of America's truly great bands. I was fortunate to see them before they released their first album in a small club in Aspen Colorado. They played every night for one glorious month .
I love the Eagles. My parents played their music when I was a child. I'm 51 now and from The Netherlands. The song "Take it easy" always makes me happy. Music is magical. 🙏🥰
I grew up at a very young age listening to the eagles. I think the very first time I heard them I was 4 years old. I'm 54 now and they are my favorite band of all time
Punk hit Southern California in 1978 just as this band exploded. It's been fun at age 60 to go back and rediscover this great music. So many fun memories come flooding back. A "6th grade camp" bus ride up into the mountains singing Hotel California comes to mind.... IMO -Joe Walsh is the American Keith Richards. Henley's probably on a treadmill at this very moment saying "NO WAY am I going out before him!!" 🤣🤣😂😂 thanks for the music guys. lots of love from all us kids who grew up in the 1970's!!! ✌✌👏👏😎😎🤗🤗
I began playing guitar back in 1979-80. Long story-short it was because I randomely picked out an album during a dinner party at mom`s friends houe. It said "the James Gand and the title of a song was very strange to my 11 yr old self...Funk #48 (not #49) and I loved it and the "donk be-dok-de-donk a-dop a bop" left me loving the song and had me doubled over laughing. On the drive home that night I asked my mom for a guitar for Christmas. My journey down the road of rock had begun. Thank you Joseph Fidler Walsh !! Joe has been my light in the dark and we both got sober a couple of years apart. Joe in 1994 and me 1997. I have never relapsed and niether has Joe. From the deepest part of my soul, Thank you Joe.
Just try touring with a successful band for one year long tour. It's unbelievably exhausting . Now add making a hit record in a studio, add practicing, having a social and family life plus taking care of yourself mentally! It's nearly impossible for a healthy person much less anyone who has an addiction to drugs and alcohol. That they made it through it alive is phenomenal.
If you haven’t heard “Long Road out of Eden,” you should. My youngest son was in Afghanistan for 18 months and every time I hear it, I think of my son. That one song, is very evocative.🎶
went to the hell freezes over concert when it went to the orange bowl in so. fla. what a night!!! music was perfect, the night was to die for with the miami colors and skyline as a back drop. so very happy i was allowed to experience the eagles. can't believe it's been THAT long ago already!!
I chuckled when Henley said most bands don't last. Yeah, if you have massive egos and aren't willing to compromise. Look at a band like Rush. They were best friends and loved each other. They were willing to hear each other out and concede ideas to make it work. A band is like a relationship. It takes a lot of work, but it can last forever if you want it to.
The Eagles have given enough of themselves. IMO... Sometimes it is just best to accept leaving on a low note, if not just for the memory of Glen Frey. Like Queen, is not Queen without Freddie Murcury. Just let it be and enjoy what they gave to the world. THANK YOU TO ALL THE BAND MEMBERS FOR DEDICATING THEIR TALENT FOR US WHO LOVED THEIR STORY TELLING THRU MUSIC.
I would rather have heard the band playing instead of listening to people talk about them. I cried when Frey died. What can I say? One of the bands that I sang in, loved playing some of their songs when we played small venues. Never sang them in concert. 🎶
The man neglected to state that Jackson Browne was the one who wrote most of the song TAKE IT EASY WHEN Glen Frey helped him finish it. ITS REALLY COOL THEY WERE ALL SUCH GOOD FRIENDS. AND LINDA RONSTADT WAS ALSO, WOW, WHAT A VOICE.
If memory serves me my cousin and I saw them in Calgary in 1976. It was an outdoor event where the Stampeder Football team played. It was when they released the whole Hotel California Theme.
I love The Eagles - but this documentary features very little of them. Just a load of 'others' giving their blah-blah-blah. It would be much better to have more of the actual band members sharing their thoughts.
The Eagles reached the pinnacle of commercial music. Immense fan support was gained due to outstanding music, and professional performances throughout their climb to rock superstars. However, there is the faintest smell of taint that continues to make some question the history. So many talented musicians contributed, yet, their contributions were tossed aside as the group's success accended. The Eagles contribution to music will live for generations yet born. To this listener, the Eagles became the Don Henley Group, leaving the earlier creativity to a greatest hits “Take it Easy”.
@@stevemcfate1961 Being a lead guitarist does not necessarily make him better. Remember that the voice is most certainly an instrument. And at that, Meisner was the best.
They con t inue to play as the Eagles because the fans want them to. They sell out everywhere they go. Just because one member dies doesn't make them not the Eagles.
The Eagles grew up plain and simple. We grew up with them. Everybody has difficulty. That difficulty is Amplified by being in the spotlight and drugs and the ever present crush of fans willing to do anything just to be near you. Add alcohol to the mix and there you go.
Don't get me wrong. I grew up with, and love The Eagles. I have to take pause and consider enormous number "album sales" for anyone from that era. I bought all The Eagles' albums, first on vinyl, then on cassette, some of them twice on cassette, one on 8 track, then, finally, all of them on CD. Do each of these count as an "album sale"?
It was sad that Glenn and Don had to have all that control. Great musicians but not so great friends. I listen to their more obscure stuff. I like Don's solo stuff. So it's more pick and choose. That makes platforms like Spotify great.
This documentary skips over Glenn Fry's 1988 album Soul Searching which had hit song "True Love" and minor hit "Soul Searchinl" and later he had a minor hit on the Thelma And Louise soundtrack "Part Of Me. Part Of You" This documentary completely skips the Eagles 2004 hit "Hole In The World" which was nominated for Grammy for best group performance.
