Thank you so much for this video! I always struggle with doing balayage retouches, I feel like so many educators educate on how to do balayage on natural hair. But I never get to see how to approach retouches. Like how do you avoid overlap with a balayage retouch??
Also, what lightener did you use?? And what would you do when you pull out your retouch foils, you have a darker band from where you put your last root smudge that grew out?? Sometimes I notice that when I root smudge, and they come back in for a retouch, the hair doesn’t lift evenly because of that root i put in last time. Just curious about your thoughts. Appreciate you! 🙏🏽 Thank you! ✨

Thank you Jessica! Such good questions! I use wella or Joico lightener. They are nice because they lift well and don’t swell! So for root smudge I always use a demi permanent and don’t have trouble lifting the next time! One of the many reasons I love shades eq! I simply leave our the ends to avoid overlapping, and if they need a refresh, when I pull the foils I’ll stretch the lightener down through the ends and let that sit for a few min! It is very hard to harm the hair this way, and you can get a level or two of lift on those ends! I hope this helps! If you need more clarification let me know!

@@LaurenFrancesHair awesome! Thanks so much! I use shades eq for my root melts and toners too. I’m not sure why I am getting an uneven lift after when I go for the retouch. But I love that the lighteners you use don’t swell! I should check those out! ☺️ Thanks for the videos and info, you are great! ✨
