VW is known for making some iconic cars like the Beetle, Passat, Jetta, Polo, and Scirocco. But what most of VW models have in common is that they are FWD (front-wheel-drive). So what exactly does it take to convert a FWD VW Golf into a RWD (rear-wheel-drive) drift machine? Mike Day had a pretty good idea, he pulled the motor out of a BMW and then set off to figuring out exactly how’d he make that powerplant work in the VW Golf … the final result is pretty insane! We are going front bash bar to rear wheel driven Golf on Mike Day’s MKIII Volkswagen Golf.

I bought a 94 mk3 a couple months ago, and I've been working on restoring it back to it's former glory. Watching this, and also the fact that this mk3 came from the same city as mine, gives me full inspiration to complete my restoration build. I seriously needed to watch this.
I got my hands on a nice 5 speed cabrio. Not EXACTLY sure what I’m going to do to it. I know im going to make it perform much better than it currently does and restore a lot of parts on it, but idk if i should just end up buying a rwd beater or making this cabrio something you only see in a dream.
Zach is the only one who knows how to enjoy the start of a car, and actually rev it.

I was honestly expecting an LS swap so this was a nice change of pace.
i put off watching this video for 3 months for that exact reason, i was scared it would be a butchered golf

Don't fit in golf , both stock engines in that car can be easily tuned and are both compact, but golf has gr8 stability control that that car doesn't have
Wait saw the video he could has fit LS bc custom mounts so It would be better with LS bc that engines is smaller and better that than that 3 series shit

That is one of the best sounding v8s I have ever heard.
You should have heard it when it was in his e34. He went to a trophy truck event and saw that everyone ran 8 to 1 headers, which produced a sound like it was 'revving to the moon'. So of course, Mike took a week out of work, ordered some random eBay tubing, and made 8 to 1 headers for the e34. Holy shit did that thing sound amazing!

This is a car fit for hoonigan. Its so over the top. Most people do 1J/2J, or LS swaps in the usual suspect cars. Nobody goes M62. Nobody does it in a golf. Especially not a Mk3.
So rad. Really clean too. Diggin the metal work in the doors and the roof.

I know you guys love VW as much as I do, and I especially love the Golf, I always loved the car, and then I bought an 05 TDI Golf and a 92 Gold Diesel and have loved the car forever.
But there is one VW I haven't owned and it is my dream car, so can we PLEASE get an episode on the 90's VW Corrado. This car is so sexy and will 100% eventually be a collectors car. Please review the VW Corrado, which i think I've spelled correctly, maybe not lol.

Obviously the build is absolutely nuts, but the fact that it was done in 2.5 months is the part that blows my mind. Most of us have a project car in our driveway that only needs some new wiring and brakes and it’s sat there for a year😅

I have seen this car in person at the fall matserie and it SHREDS.
Usually I'd say its sacrilege to take a VR6 out of a Mk3. But obviously this is one of the few exceptions. What an awesome build.
Done it ..a 5 cyl Turbo from a Volvo V70 in the bay of a 2002 Volvo V40 T4..1100 KG /380 HP....a true FWD sleeper.
And all that in TWO AND A HALF MONTHS. That guy IS insane, god damn
