I never got to see the old WTC in person but what I like best about their appearance in photos is how they met the ground just sheer-faced. No setbacks, no colonnade, minimal decoration.
By 2030, the Twin Towers will be gone longer than they stood. It's a real shame they were barely around for the 21st century. I was born in 03 and it sucks that I'll never be able to see them or experience a pre-9/11 world. I like the new Freedom Tower, but I think it would've been a lot better had a second one been built. The NYC skyline just hasn't been the same since that fateful day.

Something in me died with them on 9/11. Minoru Yamasaki built the Twin Towers as "Living symbols of peace." That pile of s*** F building will NEVER come anywhere close to what the Twin Towers stood for. Thank you for not showing 9/11 attacks on them

Honestly, the WTC complex today, including the current One World Trade Center, pails in comparison to the OG WTC complex with its magnificent Twin Towers. Even the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, isn't the same as what Lower Manhattan lost on Sept. 11, 2001.

They say 1973 -2001 but they were both topped out by 1971 and they weren't properly completed until 1975.
You could say they weren't properly completed until 1979, because that's the year they attached the antenna onto the north tower.
