Chickens will follow you everywhere until you want them to then ??? You got it chase chase chase... Love the family life little ones love to help. 😁 rock on
I think…. No… I KNOW, that one of the best things about working on our homestead is working in projects and chores, side by side with my wife! What great memories!!
I find it amazing at how fast a pair of gloves actually wears out. You've gotta be saving $200 per year by doing it bare-handed. What a burly stud Indiana has produced! lol
Don't know why, but the chickens and chicken coop reminded me of a kids movie from 2000. "Chicken Run". Maybe something your kids would enjoy watching. LOL
That is looking good Captain, I love the chicken roundup😂 Bob thanks you for the new palace🤗 If you had the burning barrel going, the top of the tree would have been gone by the time you got down there😂 You stuck both landings 💪👍🇺🇸
Nothing like using a sledgehammer to drive a tiny staple 😂😂😂. Use what ya got!!! So funny watching how concerned the chickens were, when you started moving the pen!!!
Mike my girlfriend has chickens, she found some 48 inch chicken wire pvc coated. That's the best stuff since cold milk. 😉😁😁 And we use a hard wire leg catch. When moving her birds. 😉
Bend a hook on the end of a 3 - 4' piece of heavy wire to catch the chicken's foot. A much easier way to catch them, and doesn't hurt them at all. When I was young we raised meat birds, and always had a hook or two around.
Easiest way to move chickens wait till dusk when they go to roost. Simple to catch then, hold them upside down by feet and they will be calm as can be.
Mike, you are indeed a workaholic!!! BTW, to lock down your chicken water spigots you can use E6000 liquid glue, available at Walmart, and most hardware stores. Works GREAT!!!
Totally enjoy your videos. Your content is so varied there is never a dull moment. My favorites are the projects on the home place but you always make the part time with DP interesting as well. Thank you for keeping it fresh.
Good morning Mike. I got a late start watching this morning. Getting ready for a friends funeral today. I sent You something in the mail on Monday, C/O the Derby Market. Settling down with my breakfast and coffee to watch the video. Have a great week.
Nice job with the chicken run. Great aim with the burning barrel. Oh the joy of maintaining fence for birds. As a kid my mom and sisters would bring home baby chicks every spring and I always ended up with more chores. I think at our highest count we had 20 chickens, 24 ducks and two over 30 geese. They started multiplying after a while. The oddest situation was when we had gotten rid of all the chickens and I heard some peeping and followed the sound to an old abandoned coop we hadn’t used in years. Apparently the conditions were just right and the chicks hatched on their own after we took the moms away. A few dozen chicks running wild having the time of their life. Learned the true meaning of feral. You couldn’t get within 20’ of them in daylight. At night they roosted in the tops of our fir trees. Come fall we found a butcher that wanted them and bagged up a few a day and dropped them off each day for a few weeks. Had to make a catching pole and snag them out of the tree tops at night. Wishing you and your family the best.
Great family working together. Looks good Captain ever get meal worms to feed the chickens have a lot of people who have chickens in my area they just let them run all over got to watch for them on the road and all have fresh eggs for sale.
Those are some cool chicken digs! We are in the process of refurbishing our chicken yard from welded wire fencing to chain link. We uses metal chicken wire over the top of ours.
Nice chicken run. The water barrel is cool idea. :) You might want to clean up around the barrel unless you are want to practice your trade. Thank you for the upload and have great day.
Awesome Mike, we just love your little farm, I love raising chickens, I always did that when I was young. You and your family did such a nice job on, you should be very proud of your family and your self, it’s so pretty there, maybyou and your family be blessed 😎😎🤗🤗😌😌☀️☀️☀️❤️❤️🍮🍮🍮
Along the outside, plant chicken tasty perennials amongst the rocks. Comfrey and seaberry are two of my favorites. Consider a mulberry in each of the outer corners. All of these are good understory plants but have root systems that will hold the hillside and drive predators to distraction.
I always wondered why you didn’t utilize that awesome river view..but since the barn series started I finally realized your house is right there with some great scenery. I bet you get a front row seat for some impressive weather fronts coming from the south.
Gonna be some happy chickens after they settle in.
Chickens and Goats are going to be livin good! Nice work Mike
You've made some happy Chickens. Awesome progress Mike.

It's good that you ignore the naysayers and their coocoo comments. Always a pleasure to "work" alongside you 👍
Great helpers u have Mike catching the chickens
Nice run for the ladies. Great job on dropping trees.
I’ve seen you work with a lot of people - but - todays chicken wranglers are the best looking ones.
Cap’n the only thing funnier than watching a chicken running is watching a person running after a chicken! You had me in giggles.
Thanks!
😂😂
He obviously does not know that you are suppose to catch at night when they are sleeping. :) But that chicken chase was funny. :)
@@dennis2376 - Where's the entertainment value in that though?
I wouldn't use PCV glue on that watering cup. I would use silicone caulk. That way if you need to replace it you can. God bless
Good point!
You could not have gotten any luckier rolling that old reel to the Fire........we all thought that was not gonna stop till the river....😱
Honey do list that never end
The "chickenminiom" looks good. I'd say it turned out eggcellent.
Buckin' Billy Ray would be proud!
Spectacular Capt
boy you sure have 2 do a lot to protect chickens ... great job ...
It will have to be one very determined critter to obtain access to the chicken run. It looks great now and will be a palace when complete.
Don't know why, but the chickens and chicken coop reminded me of a kids movie from 2000. "Chicken Run". Maybe something your kids would enjoy watching. LOL
Russell… I have it on DVD. Cap’n do you have a DVD player?
Looking good Mike.
that coop makes for some happy chickies- hen patrol is working well - around the inside of the coop.

Im so anxious. Waiting the hilarious comedy in your videos. You do good work, but the funny stuff is needed. Thanks!
Bend a hook on the end of a 3 - 4' piece of heavy wire to catch the chicken's foot. A much easier way to catch them, and doesn't hurt them at all. When I was young we raised meat birds, and always had a hook or two around.
That looks very good. Nice work there.

It's looking great mike !
Easiest way to move chickens wait till dusk when they go to roost. Simple to catch then, hold them upside down by feet and they will be calm as can be.
They were trying to roost where their run used to be, that was the issue. Some confused birds
Great video Mike, I would recommend using a few pieces of lathe to close up the netting to the building. At least temporarily to keep the possums out.
Mike, you are indeed a workaholic!!!

That would have been an interesting emergency call to your neighbor
Love the barn n nice burn barrel placement lol
A much-needed upgrade for the chickens. And there is more for them when the barn is completed!
Good morning Mike. I got a late start watching this morning. Getting ready for a friends funeral today. I sent You something in the mail on Monday, C/O the Derby Market. Settling down with my breakfast and coffee to watch the video. Have a great week.

Put silicone on the threads of the cups That will help them keep from turning

Great family working together. Looks good Captain ever get meal worms to feed the chickens have a lot of people who have chickens in my area they just let them run all over got to watch for them on the road and all have fresh eggs for sale.
