Hello! Love your works, and you help me find a lot of good stuffs on amazon. I wanted to buy dust mask too, but the link to it doesn't work at your vids. Can you tell me it's brand, or should I just choose something similar from amazon? Thank you
I love your videos I am just getting started in wood carving and I'm learning so much from watching your videos. But I have to say that you look just like Roman Atwood and you have the same positive attitude as he does. I look forward to learning more from your videos as I go on this wood carving journey..
I have scrapped many projects because I've done this I'm going to admit I was skeptical about your fix but great job bro I'm definitely going to use this
I just love your videos and vibe. I wish you a beautiful wonderful long life. Such an awesome and genuine man. Thanks for all your help with my new craft!
I know this is an old video, I hope you still see this. I love that wheel that you work on, it looks like it tilts also. Did I read somewhere that you made that yourself or is their a place I can purchase it or something similar that tilts like that? Thanks! Seriously love your stuff!
I was carving a cross, where the cross is the empty space, into some tree bark a couple days ago. Made the mistake of not knowing how far I could take the wood. Got a crack on one side which caused the other side to crack as well. Have to start this one over once I find a good piece of tree bark.
Can't tell at all. Looks really good. Do you have a video on how to clean up letters negative relief? I have only a difficult way to do it, repeat repeat repeat and risk making my cursive letters too big. Is there a wheel or something I could use that won't tare up the wood?
Great video Matt!! Thank you! I'm just starting out and am learning a lot of good things psince I subscribed to your channel. You do some phenomenal work as well.
Thanks for the awesome video, been learning lots! I was wondering whereabouts you got your rotating easel? I haven't been able to find anything similar but think it would be a great addition
Thank you so much for your instruction! I've learned so much from your videos and just finished my first attempt at carving. It actually looks like I intended it to. Is the wood you're using your preferred? I find that softer woods such as balsa splinter a lot and that harder ones dull my bits quite fast. Thank you again for your videos! ~ James
Love your cobtent, where are you located.I'm looking for someone to do some wood carving designs on my custom subwoofer box,go crazy with it.,can't find anyone in my area to do it.I'm in Brooklyn ny
Sound advice! I usually find accidental marks usually look worse than they are...saw dust and glue is an alternative to filler for deep mistakes. I always like that phrase "an amateur woodworker shows you their mistakes....a professional doesn't" :-)
A question please, I have used basswood for a sign I did and what do you use for a finish on this wood,?? I find that it sucks up any type of spray immediately and wont give a finish of gloss or even satin, what am I doing wrong?? I love carving basswood
A lot of times i drench it and let it sit a day or two.... Then take those soft felt polishing wheels at a pretty high speed on the dremel and polish it up. It seems like it picks up the extra splotchy spots and evens everything out.... And it leaves it all nice and shiney. Just throwin some thoughts out there
@@CorneliusCreations I did a little 12x12 sign and burnished it with a torch, then put 1/3 of a spray can of protective enamel clear gloss and it just sucked it up with no apparent change, odd huh
I quit wood carving for a while cos I got bored of it so I transitioned to knife making But I think I'll make a weird fancy knife thing idk what to call it Maybe 'I regret my decision'
@@Mads-hl8xj ok but when I say knife I mean a 1inch length blade that is hidden in a hand sized key ring accessory I will it make it soon cos I want one but didnt have the time before
Covering up means something different in my mind. I don’t think you really covered up a mistake or flaw rather you altered the piece to make the esthetics pleasing to the eye. I understand the lesson for a large scale piece. But on a smaller piece like this why wouldn’t you sand the unties piece? Not trying to be “that guy”… just trying to learn.
Give yourself permission to not be where you want to be yet. Start making slow changes and try some different types and forms of carving or whatever you are doing to stay fresh.

I left this one plain. Have you tried multiple coats? Sometimes it takes a while to get it down. Also, get a brush and try some poly in a can.

You could also sand the entire surface down so the error disappears.
