- Hello there!
I needed a project to work on while my sewing machine was embroidering the six ruffles for the engageantes, and I had this petticoat project planned. I decided to hand sew it while I babysat my embroidery machine.

Very pretty 😀
I'd go absolutely crazy if i ever have to hand sew something completely by hand! It looks gorgeous! Cant wait to see the finished gown!
Honestly, a year ago, I would have said the same thing! I have found that as my hand-sewing technique has gotten better, my sewing speed has increased. I think that is a big reason why I don't mind it as much.
"And it ended up going a little bit quicker than I thought..."....said me....NEVER : ) I am handsewing an 18th century linen petticoat and a gorgeous linen striped apron now. Learned and did a new thing for the first time ever: stroked gathers. Yay us : )
Oh, I haven't tried stroked gathers yet, but I want to for sure!
@@SwimminginaSeaofEstrogen well...can't believe I have done one sewing thing before enormously advanced you : ) always great to learn and then do : )
That is such a useful tutorial, thank you very much 😻😻😻
I'm so glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching!
I love the color of your petticoat, it’s just beautiful and you did such a great job of it.. I’m looking forward to seeing the dress!
Thank you so much!
Beautiful work 😊
Thank you!
Way back then how on earth did they get all the fabrics fibres beads lace it is more lucious and beautiful than we have
I'm not sure I understand your question completely. Fabrics were hand-woven, and hand embroidered. If a man wanted a waistcoat, for example, he would order it from an embroidery shop. They would do all the embroidery work, and then he would take it to a tailor to be made. Beautifully embroidered fabrics were cost prohibitive, and they would have only been worn by the richest of the society.
Great tutorial!!
Thank you!
The 18th century link isn't working. Ty
Thank you for letting me know.
