Some tips for meat-less meals: beans, beans are filling, cheap and a great source of protein and relatively flavourless so good for absorbing flavour. Mushrooms are really good as a ground meat substitute (stick them in a blender), similar to beans they’re great at absorbing flavour, also king oyster mushrooms are an awesome vegan fish substitute, Lauren Toyota has made some really cool vegan calamari with them. In a real pinch tofu can be made at home although it is quite time consuming. Hope this helps if y’all can’t find any meat, as a veggie these are my staples :)
love this! you can also make veggie pasta really easily (just throw together some veggies and pasta), it's filling and a crowd pleaser. vegetarian chili made from beans is also great. no one needs meat in every meal! :)
Glad in times like these, I eat tofu and beans. No one's wiping the shelves of tofu but its so versitile. Good time to be supporting local farmers too. An underappreciated resource.
I sighed up for a local organic farm delivery service... I have been wanting to do it for ever, but this really pushed me to decide to just DO IT. It's actually really reasonable for produce. You can also order meat and pasture raised eggs.. I guess you could say it's my own silver lining for this situation...
Have you ever thought about buying a whole cow or half a cow each year for your family? We live in NC too & buy from a local butcher & it’s AMAZING! We buy half a cow because there’s only 4 of us & it lasts us literally the whole year in our deep freezer.
I’m in the UK so we’ve been in lockdown for nearly a week now, and already stocks are starting to return to the supermarket. Some stuff is still out, but bread, meat, veggies are all available now that people have stopped panic buying and only go out for essentials. So don’t worry, if your situation plays out anything like ours then meat is on it’s way! Watching your videos is such a welcome distraction during this turbulent time, I hope you and the family are all doing ok and are staying as relaxed as possible amidst it all 💕
Look into local butcher shops! They will be open like grocery stores, have a wider variety of items, support local businesses, and tend to be forgotten in options. You can call in and ask about their stock and they may be able to hold items for you
I would suggest you try meatless meals so you don't have to stress about finding meat. Lentils, beans and meat alternatives best. Cheese, full wheats, legumes, eggs, nuts- the list for things that have protein are plenty!
You can live without meat for few weeks you know :D instead doing spaghetti with meatballs you can do a vegetable pan and add some tomato sauce to it and it's very easy. You can do a big bowl of boiled parboiled rice and some vegetables in the oven and that's another easy no meat dish (you can use every vegetables you like with a lot of spices, olive oil on top after baking and rice together and it's so good!)
From Michigan here. We have been in for 2 weeks now. Making mostly meatless meals or using meat as a seasoning or addition- spaghetti, bean and rice bowls, hummus and veggie wraps, soup, loaded baked potatoes. Just a few things we've been eating here. I also made a shelf for my boys- age 13 and 21- of foods they can eat any time like popcorn, oatmeal, nuts bc they are always hungry and i don't want then to eat things i haves planned to use for meals. Just some ideas of they help anyone. 💛
Angela you are doing great! I honestly do not know where you get your energy! You are supermom! I admire your preparedness and organization skills! You are a great example for women everywhere! Thank you for sharing your lives with us all!!
We definitely don't homestead, but we buy a half cow from farmer friends every year. It lasts our family of 4 for a whole year & it is nice to have on hand!
Why am I, with 2 grown kids, watching sweet Angela speak of grocery planning and finding food for meals for her beautiful family of 10😋?? Because her videos are always fun and super CALMing on a Friday night, lol🌠~:)
Roasted chickpeas are yummy and super filling! I like them as a snack or I’ll add them as a side to a meal, on top of rice and veggies, or a salad. Just toss them in a little oil and season them however you like and then roast them in the oven until crispy!
A few tips. Find out what time the resupply truck comes. At Walmart it’s late and they fill the shelves. So going when they open gives the best selection. At Harris Teeter its early am,so they restock from 6:30am until they are done. So arriving at 7-8:30am is better. CVS only gets one truck on Thursday’s early. It’s 12 noon before they are unpacked. Some stores have vendors who resupply so find out what days that is and the usual time they arrive. Plan to shop 2-3 stores at a time. PS some people put cushions on the lids and turn the 5 gallon food bucket into a seat. Godspeed
Tips for finding meat: shop at places you don’t normally. In my area (AZ), we have Food City, ranch markets, and carnicerías (aka Mexican meat sellers). I was shocked to learn they’re all mostly stocked
I live in western ny. We are almost 2 weeks into sheltering at home. Initially our stores were sold out of so many things. The stores said they have no problems getting stuff, they just weren't ready for it. The grocers put limits on many foods and the stores are starting to look more normal. I shopped Thursday and was able to get everything I wanted, including meat, except paper products are still pretty sparse. Everything feels a lot calmer now. Most people are now just normal shopping rather than frantically hoarding. We've all sort of settled into our new normal.
I’m a mom of only 2 but I admire you and you truly inspire me with ideas for my own home. We are under a state of emergency here in canada so I have had lots of time to watch your videos and I’m filled with ideas to improve while stuck at home.
Tripp. It is a demand issue. You have to take into account that people who normally eat out all the time are now having to stay home and cook. The demand is very high then add the hoarding. It will eventually balance out.
Google or look up on Facebook local cattle Farms. The smaller farms in our County that supply all of the restaurants are hurting for business. They started making family packages because they realize not everybody has a whole extra freezer to throw half a cow in. We live across from Seattle and there's no meat in the stores but all of the small farms have plenty! A lot of them are struggling to quickly convert their small office to accommodate for direct sales. Several farms in our County have made it so you pay online and drive-thru. They open the trunk of your car put your order in and off you go.
I’m really sorry about the grocery situation, it sounds bad, especially given that you have such a large family. On a contrast, there is plenty of meat in NYC, the only thing that doesn’t meet demand is flour and beans. I opted not to buy much meat and intentionally make more vegetarian dishes these days, granted I have a little more time on my hands then usually. I think most people in the US will have enough food, but it just might be the food they don’t normally eat or like (which is a good lesson to learn if you ask me). Hope it all gets better soon, but in the meantime let’s try to support and care for one another.
Honestly, there is no need for the chicken nor red meat. I am not vegan, btw. Lentils and dry beans can be bought in bulk and they store well for a long time all while providing protein and other nutrients. Dahl is a delicious dish; very flavorful and filling. Just by using the right spices (cumin, some salt, black pepper and maybe some others if you felt like it), can make for a hearty, filling meal when used with lentils/or beans and rice. The only thing to keep in mind about that type of eating plan is b12, but fortified cereals or milk have it. But regardless, it’s good that you managed to find a good amount of things at the grocery store; take care, Angela
The rotini pasta can make a fun filling cold dish. I use a box on rotini, a can of mushroom stems and pieces, Italian dressing, and either cheese cubes or shredded cheese!
Not sure where you live but check if you have a cash and carry (renamed to Smart FoodService Warehouse Stores) they cater to restaurants so you can by eggs in a 15 dozen box, 5lb blocks of cheese or pre-shredded (we got the blocks and did it ourselves using an electric shredder), tons of meat selections and 30lb bags of flour, sugars, rices, big bags of chips, baking ingredients. And they have bread too. Family of 10 here, and we always had people over too. And definitely go to a butcher shop too! We ate A LOT of meats so we had a whole chest freezer outside the back door just for meats
Love these vids! I also love the vegan/vegetarian suggestions in the thread made me so happy! Yes plant based is totally doable with practice and a little research and just makes you feel good💚
I have a ziploc bag that I keep in the car with masks, gloves, hand sanitizer and antibac wipes. It stays in there and I replenish as needed. I also keep one in my diaper bag and I have a area in my kitchen for his kind of stuff
I've had the same issue in N.C but with dairy luckily I'm vegetarian. Chickpeas, Lentils and Beans are a great source of protein and are super filling!!
Here in Vegas we had no canned goods, eggs, pasta, and Ramon for over 2 weeks. Now everything is rationed. Try calling your stores to find out when trucks will be in. That has helped us plan large trips. Stay safe 😄
In Sydney people have been panic buying for about 3 weeks. They introduced limits on pretty much everything now & the stores have started to look restocked. We actually eat a lot of beans in our house so it has actually been harder to manage the 2 can limit, than missing out on meat! Everyone is being forced to adjust our eating lives a little - you are not alone 🥰
We only have 5 in our family but we live 30 minutes from a grocery store so we have a chest freezer and 2nd fridge in our garage. Twice a year a grocery store has a big chicken sale so I stock up on 50-70lbs at a time. My family splits a cow once a year and that takes care of beef.
Go to the butchers! Also see if any restaurants in town are selling stuff. We have several delis and locally owned restaurants selling meat and produce since they won’t be open. They have chosen to buy from their suppliers and are selling to the public at their discount. So many places are getting creative!
We homestead and raise most of our own meat. Check out your local farms, farmers markets for meat. I would call around first and find out if you can place an order. Some places you can even place an order for half a cow. When they are ready to be processed they will contact you to pick-up your order. You will want a freezer for all of it. I hope this helps a little.
Love you Angela! You are doing great momma!!❤ here's and idea for future- after craziness dies down: since you have such a large fam to feed, consider buying a side of beef that you can have processed any way you desire, and store in deep freeze. Can do this with chickens and pork as well. Local farmers and meat processing plants will work with you. Its super healthy meat, and also much cheaper per pound than paying at Costco, etc. Praying for you and for God to multiply your five loaves and 2 fish😉 or your bag of wings!! He can do all things!
You did a great job. I'm Mormon so I have a great pantry because I did what our church advised a long time ago. Religion aside, but when things are better, learn from this and develop a pantry. My daughter has 8 kids too and she isn't stressed about food food. True they did just butcher a streer. Love your channel.
California has shelter in place for 1.5 weeks so far. Food will come back to fill grocery shelves. It’s the worst right before you start a lockdown. I also started growing lots of veggie seeds last week!
Don’t forget about the butcher shops. In our area the chain restaurants are offering meat packages that you can order over the phone and they bring it to your car.
In Australia, we are in a similar situation with groceries. Meat has been hard to come by but over the last week shelves are slowing restocking in some stores. Still no toilet paper in most stores. Our new favourite when we can't get meat are Mexican Vegetarian Taco Bowls. There are many variations. We used a variety of beans, corn, tomato, cucumber, avocado, corn chips, cheese, salsa, coriander and lime.
They will come back - no doubt. I don't go in the AM and it has been a solid week of lockdown here - I was able to find everything, milk, eggs, chicken, beef. We are in Texas. Don't worry people do calm down and things do get replenished.
In England I've found smaller corner shops are better stocked than big stores and far less people. Also, get creative with finding online meat delivery packs and local farms for fresh produce. If you have prime, Amazon have a small pantry section. People who have gone insanely crazy hoarding for Armageddon have forced others to go out more to lots of shops to find essentials. It's a scramble to get online pick up slots so if you can, book weeks ahead. Here we are limited to 80 items and 3 of one thing xx
Here in the UK, some shops sell soya mince protein (like Quorn) and you can make a chili with that, if you add beans it has lots of protein :) hope this helps, take care!
Tips from someone who's been in quarantine for two weeks : - beans, - spices and tomato puree/sauce/cans to make your own sauce - Quinoa, rice, lentils, etc (all the things no one buys because they just want pasta lol) Also, there might still have whole wheat pasta ! - fresh veggies and mushrooms - LOADS of fruits as snacks - Tofu, seitan, textured Soy protein, etc. - peanut butter (100% peanuts, not the sugary things) is a great source of protein as well.
My friend asked me last night if I've been able to find paper products because it took her two weeks to find anything! When I went to the store the other day it was hit or miss on stock but they were all over the store restocking shelves as fast as they can. The store I was at (and most stores in my area) are limiting the amount of stuff people can buy in certain categories.
You don’t have to be a homesteader! Buy a half of cow and a whole pig a year from your local farms. Better quality meat and a full freezer of meat all the time! -Jess
I've found it depends on the cuts you request and some do it by the pound on the scale when "hanging" plus the costs of slaughter, processing...etc.. When we order from our local Mennonite farm, we get a "mini cow" box that is 40 lbs of a variety of meat cuts (roasts, ground beef, steaks). It is a flat $250 for it and it is grass fed/finished with no extra costs of buying a meat cow from the farm.
I know it’s not usually what you do but with 10 in the family what about a freezer in you’re office and when things settle down fill it for such emergencies x
@thisgatherednest turn the chicken wings into broth. Roast them, the simmer them in water for 12 to 14 hours. Remove the solids, pick out any meat, then make soup.
This! That's what I thought as soon as you said chicken wings aren't going to fill the kids up. Soup will, plus if you have snack-y crackers or chips it makes it fun for kids. I think a big starchy breakfast then a lighter soup lunch. Balance :-)
Try your local butcher/farm! We have some rural areas near by and they have had plenty of meat. Thanks for encouraging everyone to take it one week at a time and not panic!
Soups are a good way of making enough for a lot of people with not a lot of protein. Like you have very little spaghetti noodles you can chop them smaller and make your own version of chicken noodles!!
Monday will be our 2nd full week quarantine. I would love to see some of the recipes a lot of your meal planning sounds really yummy, and we are always up for trying new things.
Hey Angela!!! I live in your area and shop at the same Food Lion as you do! I have seen CR there a few times! LOL! Anyways, one of the employees told me the best time to come in is around 11am-ish. She said that is when their shelves were the best stocked for the day! Hope this is helpful!! Be safe and next time don"t forget your hand sanitizer!!
Jordan Paige is awesome for teaching you how to shelf cook! I normally do things like how you do, only a week at a time and only get the ingredients you need for your meal plan. So this has been such a learning experience! This whole thing has taught us that we want a freezer of meat and vegetables, back ups in the pantry, and double the emergency fund! 🤦🏻♀️
The first week we were wiped out of produce at one of the main stores I use. The next week's trip I could hardly find canned goods. Only my husband eats meat at we don't go through that very fast but I use a local farm and she is stocked. Especially since a lot of her restaurant clients had to close or cut way back.
Don’t fret about the meat situation!! A lot of families don’t usually eat meat at all so you should be fine during this temporary situation!! Luckily you don’t need that much meat, or protein for that matter if you’re not pumping serious iron. Here are some ideas from our vegetarian family to get bellies full: Lentil soup (red lentils, carrots, potatoes, spices etc.) is suuuuuper Filling and red lentils have not only protein but also iron! And see if you can get some pumpkin to make soup, very filling, nutritious and the easiest thing in the world to make. Bean burritos! If you can get your hands on soy sausage I promise it tastes the same!!!
Thought about it and a good vegetarian lunch is a loaded baked potato bar. No meat needed. Cheese and bbq sauce and veggies and onions. The works. Super yummy and filling. I notice you dont often buy things like potatoes or veggies to roast but I mean nights well buy produce while the supplies are still in
We are ten days at “quarantine”, I went to Costco at day 9 and it was completely normal and stocked. Only difference was I parked up front and didn’t wait in line at the register.
Panic buying here in Australia is becoming a problem. Will be happy when this awful time is behind us all. Having a big family feed, big grocery haul. Stay safe xx
I'm from the PNW and our grocery stores have been insane too!! If you're still looking to buy more meat for the fam, maybe check any local butcher shops that may still be open!! That's been our saving grace here!
Good job I did the same , eggs , bread , banana have gone through lots, and baking muffins and cookies - get creative with tortillas, PBJ with banana rolled inside, quesadillas with chicken and cheese, salad or cucumber on the side - lots of hand washing while cooking 👨🍳
Beans, lentils, chickpeas, tofu all make wonderful meat replacements! Check the shelves for some TVP also that can be a replacement for "ground beef". Google vegetarian/vegan versions of your favourite meals and see what you can come up with. I'd recommend lots of soups, stews, curries, tofu/veg stir-fry, mexican dishes w/ beans only, a great veggie lasagna and other pastas are also SO filling. Don't stress too much about eating lower protein... we need less than most people consume anyway, and it's only going to be for a small time in the scheme of things so you'll all be fine :) Stay safe and sane!
Here in Canada we are on lockdown but our stores are restocking and in that way it feels normal. But two weeks ago people were panic buying chicken. Went a couple days ago and there was no dishwashing detergent or taco sauce.
Thanks for the ideas. I am kinda in the same boat with meat. Last Friday when I went to the store I found a box of turkey patties and those were basically gone and fish...
One of my favorite vegetarian food bloggers is Cookie and Kate. Everything she makes is delicious. If you can’t find meat next week you could try looking at some of her recipes 😁 I especially love her pineapple Thai fried rice and her sweet potato quesadillas
Your makeup is so pretty in this video! We eat mostly vegetarian at home normally. Frittata is a great meatless option... Beans and rice, Lentil Dahl, bakes potato etc. Legumes are your friend.
Yes our stores are low on fresh meat also. If you try to go early you might get some or maybe not. It is very stressful when you have a big family to feed. I made cheesy broccoli cheddar soup for lunch one day. It was easy an only a few ingredients. Used up some stuff in my pantry.
I live in the Bay Area and we have had the stay at home order for almost two weeks and the same thing happened to us on the first day, now most of the food is back because people are less panicked
Hi Angela, you cracked me up with the "who's laughing now ?" comment. On another note - in order to have a full protein - grains and pulses together are a good combo - as a Brit - baked beans on toast was a staple - I know Americans think it's a crazy - but kids love it (yes I still do at almost 60!!) Also rice is fantastic and there are a few good you tubers about leftover rice with veg and eggs stir-fried into it... Keep your eye on the prize - Good Health and an end to the chaos. Stay safe.
Hey, a few words from a place that has gone through this a bit before you guys. Now, after a week or two the stock at shops is doing better, when the first wave of panic has passed. I am based in Europe so it might be different for you but I hope it will all be okay. Stay safe and healthy, much love!
This was so relatable !! I live in South Africa and we have been out on lock down as well... it is so difficult because all the shops are out of stock and we dont have shops that have the amount of things that America has so ... it's been hectic and there is still 21 more days to go 🙈 luckily I'm vegetarian and I am just trying to make super tasty vegetarian food for the rest of my family
Situations like this are making all the large families on TH-cam who aren’t preppers refigure everything. It’s crazy the difference in the people I watch who have similar families. Nova Scotia living has been prepping a long time . Jamerril Stewart is refiguring her whole approach .
Have you checked local butcher shops or local farms for meat? That’s how we have been finding meat, milk, and eggs. I might have to pay a little more or drive a little farther out, but it has been well worth it. Good luck, momma!
I also live in the Charlotte area and it is hard to plan meals. You never really know what items are going to be "the" items that are hoarded each week. Enjoyed the video and looking forward to your updates!
I’d recommend checking out your local Trader Joe’s. The Trader Joe’s near me have been well stocked and they only let a few people in at a time so they aren’t crowded and no one can take excessive amounts of food.
If you have ethnic food stores around you like Afro/Caribbean food stores, Asian food stores or East European food stores most of them will sell meat and have a butcher counter in their store, that is how I was able to buy meat. Here in the U.K. about 2 weeks ago there was no meat and eggs anywhere and when I popped into my local African food store where I normally would just buy things like yam or plantain I was shocked to find they were stocked with fresh fish and meat. I enjoy meat but I have come up with some creative and tasty meat less meals for my family this week. Pinterest is a great help with that. Much love to you and your family . Love from the U.K. 💗
In the U.K. you can only buy like example today we ordered our food online, 6 chocolates items 2 milks etc we’ve ordered the boys Easter eggs this shop, and then our eggs the next shop, and leaving us 4 chocolate items left. I knew this was going to happen, but I didn’t have the money to go stocking up my cupboards! Altho I did bye a lot of soups! This also means my brother who’s doing my parents and Grandads shop has two milks between 3 house holds, hopefully they will improve and let those picking up for others collect more foods.
Not sure when you filmed this but our city got a Stay In Place order last week and grocery stores were out of meat. This week, meat is back!! Now they are just still out of dry boxed goods and soups. Buy more veggies and beans than you normally would do you can do meatless meals. You can also do things like cheese enchiladas or quesadillas if you can find tortillas.
If you boil the chicken wings up then you can pick all bits of chicken off make a chicken and sweetcorn soup with it or add small pasta or rice to it make it go further or make chicken and mushroom pie
Some tips for meat-less meals: beans, beans are filling, cheap and a great source of protein and relatively flavourless so good for absorbing flavour. Thanks for the tips! Love Angie's comment section.
Ashley I had the same idea for my family. Our local stores are out of all the beans, both dry and canned.
Ashley good tips! Lentils are my go-to. They’re quicker cooking than beans and I love them in anything Mexican inspired- tacos, burritos, etc.
love this! you can also make veggie pasta really easily (just throw together some veggies and pasta), it's filling and a crowd pleaser. vegetarian chili made from beans is also great. no one needs meat in every meal! :)
Jessica Bradley oh noo! Hopefully you can get some soon!
Glad in times like these, I eat tofu and beans. No one's wiping the shelves of tofu but its so versitile. Good time to be supporting local farmers too. An underappreciated resource.
Heather Applegate my stores were indeed wiped of tofu 😢 luckily I have gotten my hands on some now though

Beans - Beans is the answer 😁 cheap and filling... Ciao from Italy!
Guendalina Mion I hope you are staying well.

I'm also from the UK and I couldn't agree more. The sense of global community has been so comforting. Hope you are well✨
I'm in Illinois and this has been my experience as well.
You could buy some chickpeas and make falafel. It's a great meat substitute with lots of protein.
Laura K Add some Tahini (sesame paste), and you can make hummus too. Yum! I love both falafel and hummus.

I've thought about doing that thanks for the info. I wondered about how long a half would last. Thanks for sharing ❤️

Sounds like latinos are eating arroz, tortillas, and frijoles. Survival food lol.
Ja Crispy Sounds delicious 🤤

The only thing to keep in mind about that type of eating plan is b12, but fortified cereals or milk have it. But regardless, it’s good that you managed to find a good amount of things at the grocery store; take care, Angela
Yes, so much cheaper and kind to animals and the environment.
Yes plant based is totally doable with practice and a little research and just makes you feel good💚
Beans and rice and potatoes are great and filling. There are so many recipes that you can add just a little bit of chicken in to stretch it.
your videos are the main thing i look forward to every day as i sit and do basically nothing all day lol... love you angie
Tips from someone who's been in quarantine for two weeks :
- beans,
- spices and tomato puree/sauce/cans to make your own sauce
- Quinoa, rice, lentils, etc (all the things no one buys because they just want pasta lol)
Also, there might still have whole wheat pasta !
- fresh veggies and mushrooms
- LOADS of fruits as snacks
- Tofu, seitan, textured Soy protein, etc.
-Jess
What is a reasonable total price to expect for a half a cow?
Our butcher quoted us $600 for 1/4 of a cow.
Plus you pick your own cuts of meat, that was for $3.99 a pound
I've found it depends on the cuts you request and some do it by the pound on the scale when "hanging" plus the costs of slaughter, processing...etc.. When we order from our local Mennonite farm, we get a "mini cow" box that is 40 lbs of a variety of meat cuts (roasts, ground beef, steaks). It is a flat $250 for it and it is grass fed/finished with no extra costs of buying a meat cow from the farm.
Marisa Martinez totally depends on where you live! And if they are a certified organic farm or not.
What you might try is to get to the store before opens, because there tends to be more stuff on the shelves when you do that.
I love meal planning it helps us save sooo much money! Now with limited food sources it’s much harder to meal plan. Nice job!
Monday will be our 2nd full week quarantine. I would love to see some of the recipes a lot of your meal planning sounds really yummy, and we are always up for trying new things.
My husband and I are experimenting a lot with our cooking to keep food exciting. We live in Nevada and currently the quarantine is more self imposed
In my town, the grocery stores are generally out of meat, but the local butcher shops are more stocked.
Hubby says if you get up at opening you can meat at Walmart and Harris Teeter. He has had really good success with it.
I iwsh you luck with doing groceries. Here in the neterhlands groceries where a problem a week and 2 weeks ago. Now its okay.
Don’t fret about the meat situation!! A lot of families don’t usually eat meat at all so you should be fine during this temporary situation!! Luckily you don’t need that much meat, or protein for that matter if you’re not pumping serious iron. Here are some ideas from our vegetarian family to get bellies full:
Lentil soup (red lentils, carrots, potatoes, spices etc.) is suuuuuper Filling and red lentils have not only protein but also iron!
And see if you can get some pumpkin to make soup, very filling, nutritious and the easiest thing in the world to make.
Bean burritos!
If you can get your hands on soy sausage I promise it tastes the same!!!
I am happy that you can find most of things especially kitchen paper and toilet paper
Loved this video! I'm going out grocery shopping tomorrow and this helped me reverse my thinking and get a bit more creative. Thanks! Stay well ❤️
Thought about it and a good vegetarian lunch is a loaded baked potato bar.
Don't stress too much about eating lower protein... we need less than most people consume anyway, and it's only going to be for a small time in the scheme of things so you'll all be fine :)
Stay safe and sane!
My husband delivers bread to grocery stores, so he considered an essential business and y’all, it’s been crazy.
Find out when the truck delivers and then go in early the next morning. It works!
Yes our stores are low on fresh meat also. If you try to go early you might get some or maybe not. It is very stressful when you have a big family to feed. I made cheesy broccoli cheddar soup for lunch one day. It was easy an only a few ingredients. Used up some stuff in my pantry.
I live in the Bay Area and we have had the stay at home order for almost two weeks and the same thing happened to us on the first day, now most of the food is back because people are less panicked
if you are making a meaty stew you can add red lentils; they cook down and make the meat go further
I only buy what i need.
Sometimes, what i find. 👏🏻👏🏻
Love from Portugal 😘🇵🇹
Yes, please film the recipes because I want to know what the meatball dish is about :).
Angela go to small stores, idk if you guys have small supermarkets around but Hispanic supermarkets carry fresh meat and they always have stocks.
Stay safe.
Support a local butcher. Our meat selection was very picked over as well but all our local butchers had plenty to choose from.
Ca had a panic in the first two weeks, but now the Costco and grocery are pretty well stocked.
Hey, a few words from a place that has gone through this a bit before you guys. Now, after a week or two the stock at shops is doing better, when the first wave of panic has passed. I am based in Europe so it might be different for you but I hope it will all be okay. Stay safe and healthy, much love!
That cracked me up when you’re talking about who looks crazy now all of us in line at Costco trying to get thrown a chicken breast 😂😂😂
Yes! LoL
Angela, can I just say how impressed I am by the amount and quality of content you put out! Love your channels!
We are in Indiana and we are a week into quarantine and it is getting better with the grocery hoarding.
I loved the sweater you wore in this video! Our stores are really low as well on items. We just have to get creative when we cook! 🙂
We started stocking up on food back on March 1st. We saw this coming. We are now ready for the next 30 days or so.
Same here!
When in a tough situation you make chicken wings (we eat them regularly) and fill in with other items.
Your comments Are on yay!! I love you and your family Angela!! God bless you beautiful
If you boil the chicken wings up then you can pick all bits of chicken off make a chicken and sweetcorn soup with it or add small pasta or rice to it make it go further or make chicken and mushroom pie
yummy!
